I am trying to find out what the salary for a town employee is and have not had any luck in Google. Anyone have ideas about where to look? I googled town, state and job name salary.

Perhaps in the minutes of the town council meeting? I work for a municipality, and because our salaries must be approved by a vote, they appear in meeting minutes. You should be able to put in an open records request with the town for that information as well.

In NYS we have this great website called SeethruNY which allows you to look up any state employee's payroll.

Or perhaps the town budget has been online and approved it may be in there

does the town have a website? they may have had to post their annual budget on the website but I guess if you have googled it would have come up.

A lot of newspapers have a data center that records all this.

You might want to go to the town or city's website and see if it is there.

If it isn't listed there, especially if the town is a smaller municipality, you can go the town's clerk office and request the information.

If you pea mail the name of the town, I can try and look it up.

Thanks for the ideas! I will try looking for budget info. I didn't see anything on the website, but will look more closely now with that in mind.
