Here are the layouts I have been working on
Courthouses The layout design was inspired by GeorgiaMolly I just love her style. I needed to have a consistent design so I would have a place for all of these type of photos (Courthouses) would have a place to live. I am doing the same for the other photos I take consistently which are Churches, Schoolhouses, and abandon buildings. I am also doing the same type of design for a portrait series.

Meeting Mickey
Carlsbad Caverns - Sara 2012 This will also be a series (not same layout design probably) to document the granddaughters trips to National Parks and Monuments. I hope in their lifetime they will get to visit all of them.
Shout out hello to all of you this morning, I hope your day is happy, healthy and if you want it to be so, scrappy.

We made it to PAGE 4!
MARIBETH you've been on a roll. Love all your architexture photos. What a fun project to document different buildings...churches, courthouses, etc.
I'm up, dishes are done, I still need to fold the laundry from the dryer, and now I'm reading email and the message boards before I do my 15 minute decluttering in the master bedroom and another in the extra bedroom today. Then I'm tackling the pile of paper on my dining room table. What's on your list to do today?
If I succeed, maybe I'll take a moment to scrap later. Haven't done a page in a few days.

Debi, in response to your question in a gallery comment, but I can see you found where I am doing all sorts of buildings, so yes, it is not just a fascination with courthouses but buildings of many kinds. I am drawn to taking photos of buildings, and wanted a way to showcase them without having to design a new layout for each one. So inspired by the layouts of Pea GeorgiaMolly (link posted earlier) I came up with something that I really liked which I think will suite all the photos I have now and will take in the future of buildings, changing colors and textures to suite photo.

Good Morning to all - Nylene, Debi, Linda, Pam, Cindy, Kelly, Leah, Angie, Val, Amy, Anne and Jana (hope I did no forget anyone, please let me know if I did)
Hope you all had a happy and healthy week, and are looking forward to a weekend with friends and family and some scraping if it is on your agenda.
I am going to my first Copic marker class, never even touched one before. I am hoping it goes well. I have never been much of an "artist" so the blending and shadowing scare me because you need to visualize where the light source is coming from and try to shadow. EEEEKS that my be difficult for me. But I sure love to color, so I hope that I can get the hang of it, I would love to incorporate some colored clip art into my layouts.
I worked on some more layouts yesterday at lunch and last evening so I should be posting some more this weekend. I have also been putting together my page kits and other projects that I can take with me on my RVing trips this spring/summer. I have been very productive and I sure hope it continues throughout the rest of the year. Thank you guys for keeping me motivated too.
Well, I better get back to work. Yay its Friday, but I still have loads to do today.
Have a wonderful day and back to chat soon.

Good Morning Ladies,
I've been busy card making again. These I will post this time.
Cindy - Thanks for the compliment on my travel album. This is my letting go album. It's time to move on since I have a new beau in my life. Someday, I'll tell you more about him, but I don't want to jinx things.
Maribeth - You've been on a roll girly. Keep em' coming. Have fun r-ving. I wish I were doing rhat. There's still so much of America to see.
Debi - When you get finished de-cluttering your house, I'll let you do mine.
Oh Kelly and Nylene - where have you gone?
Have a good day everyone. |

Linda - thanks will have fun, wish I could see more of America though. Hubby retired last February, but I still have to work, 12 more years until retirement age for me, so we don't get to go far, but we do enjoy wherever we get to go. Our big trip this year will be Utah.

Hi Pokeys! We have had the flu at our house the past week. I am so ready to have everyone healthy again!
I would like to ask for your good thoughts and prayers. I am dealing with a health issue right now and have a lot of tests coming up this next week. I hope it's something that can be fixed with a daily pill but at this point I am getting a lot of disappointed head shakes from the doctor. I'm trying to stay positive.
I hope you are all well! Hugs |

CINDY yay for pulling off a surprise party...not always an easy thing to do. It's seems wierd to think you have a 40 yr old dd...my goodness girl, were you 5 when you had her? LOL Since I had my boys late in life I know I'm the odd one --old enough to be a grandparent yet have teenagers at home...who thought that was a good idea? LOL
The boys helped me rake the backyard and pick up all the stray fallen leaves we didn't get around to getting in the fall. Then we had a corn beef for dinner, played a game of scrabble and then I did a LO. SO the evening is about over. Here's my latest LO from 2008

Maribeth - a Copics class. How fun! Please let us know how you liked it.
Debi - you sound like you're really great at getting household chores done. I'm not. I would rather get a wee bit of scrapping done than do dishes. hee hee! Btw, your comment about a drive by and the "beep beep" put a smile on my face.
Sarah - I know what you mean about leaving a long post. I had just finished one and was telling you that I've done that a number of times by hitting the reply button instead of submit. Guess what just happened? I did it again! Argh!! So, this post will most likely be shorter than the last that just disappeared.
Linda - you've been busy traveling and creating. I love seeing your travel pages and your cards. You're definitely not as pokey as me!
Pam - you're cooking sounds so good! I could sure use a piece of that sweet roll.
Angie - You are so good about popping in and out. I need to do that instead of trying to draft this ginormous posts every once in awhile. Btw, LOVED that Fuddruckers layout. Amazing titlework and journaling, girlfriend!
Jen - You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers. Whatever is ailing you, I hope you are better soon. ((hugs))
Cindy - Congratulations on pulling of the surprise party for your dd. That is no small feat and a 40th birthday is a milestone. Happy birthday to your daughter! Can't wait to see pictures.
Kelly - So glad your computer is up and running again. Isn't it amazing how disconnected we feel without technology? And to imagine we didn't have all this when we were growing up.
Ok, hopefully I got everyone. So sorry, this is my 2nd post because I lost everything a moment ago.
Here's a layout and card I completed today: believe
Now off to figure out what to do for dinner and watch the Oscars. Have a great week, everyone. Hope to chat with you all soon! |

Good Evening Ladies, Not much going on around my house.
Debi - I have met a total 14 peas. 11 of which were Calendar Girls (now known as Chatty Scrappers). Let's see there's Melanie, Jan, Monica B. (a couple of times), Tammy, Theresa, Nylene, Wanda (one of my bffs), Tina, Cindy, Toni and Val. Then, I met a couple of Peas in Canada (where we spent many of DH's days off. I think Wanda's met more that I.
Cindy - W2G pulling off the surprise birthday party.
For all those not feeling, my prayers go out to you. have a great evening.

Val, I am sorry to hear about your brother. I will send hugs and prayers your way! Congrats on the job!
Cindy, I would love to see your crochet projects! I have a class over at Craftsy that will teach me how to make amigurumi crochet. I am on vacation this week and was thinking of getting my yarn out!
On Scrap-a-palooza, there was a mix-up with the venue. It got double booked and the crop was left with finding a new venue. The venue they found, the SG gals didn't approve of so they decided not to be a part of it. This is for this and future crops. They had decreased the crop from 3 to 2 times a year for family and obligations with the store. Now, K.I.S.S. scrapbooks will be part of the crop. They are based out of Joplin, MO. I am going next Saturday! I am hanging out at the store this Friday at SG though and they are having a special sale for the locals.
Maribeth, I have some Copic markers and have always wanted to learn how to use them. I don't have anywhere that does classes. I need to watch some youtube videos. Have fun with your class!
Jen, prayers for you. I hope you can figure out what is wrong.
Kelly, glad you are back! I hate computer problems. I have been having my wireless router acting up.
I am at my fave coffee shop relaxing. I am on vacation from work this week and feel like I need it! We have had some rough patients lately that haven't been very nice to staff. I have been having to many dreams about work lately. Ugh! I am looking forward to scrapbooking next weekend and need to get kits prepared! I also want to continue on organizing things.
I hope everyone has a great week. I hope to check back soon! |

Angie - I totally agree. I've been missing your mom's pages too!
Amy - thanks for your sweet comments. The color combo on my "believe" layout was pretty easy since it's all from the Studio Calico Memoir 6x6 pad. But thank you for the comment. I normally spend wayyyyyyy too much time trying to coordinate my patterned papers.
Debi - I wish I knew how to digi but no, my layout is traditional paper and glue. If there's shadow, it's because it's real. lol I try to take the photos outside in the afternoon.
Jana - Amigurumi crochet - isn't that the wool crocheted cute animals? I can't wait to see your creations. Please be sure to post!
Ok, just finished watching the Oscars. Congrats to Angie and Nylene about "Brave" winning best animated film. I was totally thinking of you two and was so excited that it won. Alright, off to take a quick jog with my pup, Brady.

Hopefully I can post layouts more frequently throughout the month and not all at once like I did last time. My big problem is light source - I like to take photos of the layouts during daylight hours and since I work practically sunup to sundown that only leaves the weekend, and then I want to actually scrap, (gads I wish there were more time to do all I want to do - LOL)
Maribeth
Maribeth - this is so me! I was going back and read your post. Even if you have to do that (which I do all the time), none of the pokeys mind (at least I hope they don't! ). Debi thought my layouts may be digi because of the shadow in my photo. lol

Good morning everyone. Looks like everyone had busy weekend.
Well my beginner copic class went pretty well. I have never considered myself an artist. I can put a page together okay but anything to do with drawing or pen work scares the heck out of me. I will take the next class in the series (unfortunately it won't be until April 13) and meanwhile I will practice with the pens I purchased for the class, and I will decide after the next class if I think it will be something I can do. It is a huge investment in the pens, so I want to be sure I will use them.
Well it is Monday morning and I could not be more down in the dumps. I just hate my job and it is just so difficult to muster up any enthusiasm. Snowed heavy last night and it would be so nice to stay in my warm home with hubby and scrap some more. I did get a few pages done this weekend, and I will take photos at lunch today if it is sunny and get them posted tonight.
Have a great Monday everyone.

Good MOnday Morning Peas! Hope everyone had a good weekend! I was exhausted yesterday and sat in my chair and crocheted. Feeling much better this morning but I think the DH is getting the tummy bug the grands had last week. Here is a link to some of the pics I posted on my FB page from the party. I am waiting to get more pics from my sister and neighbor as I was so busy with other stuff I did not get to take too many. Becky's surprise Party
Jenn-you are in my thoughts and prayer-I hope what ever is wrong can be made right!
Jana-so glad to hear you are having some relaxing time off. I will post some pics of my crochet work in the next couple of days-I have not had time to take any.
You gals have been posting some fabulous pages! I hope I didn't miss any! Going to go for now- will BBL! |

Good Morning Pokeys! How is everyone today?
NYLENE hope you can check in soon. Miss seeing your sweet face.
ANNE I asked if your page was digi because it was posted in a digital gallery, yet it looked so 3D (real paper) that I couldn't believe it was. The shadows were so perfect (one of the real challenges of digi to make it look real). Shadows aren't bad BTW, it's what gives that textured, layered, "I can touch the elements" look that is so appealing about paper pages. And looking at the posting it looked like it had been photographed and uploaded, but the digi gallery threw me...The page was very good.
JANA I've never heard of amigurumi crochet...please share photos of your creations.
MARIBETH kudos to you for taking a class to try a new technique. I'm not much into coloring myself, although I did a ton of watercoloring when I was younger, but some of my virtual scrapping friends LOVE the copic markers and color to their hearts content. Hope you enjoy trying them out too.
Sorry you dislike your job. What do you do? How long have you been there? Unfortunately I'm on the other side of the coin, I really want to work and can't seem to find a job. it's always something, isn't it? But I do relate, way too well, to wanting to stay snug at home. If it weren't for my kids, I'd probably never venture out on my own.
CINDY protect yourself, try not to catch that "tummy bug" from your dh. Too many people have been sick this year. I really llke your last posted LO of the cardinals (that's the type of bird, right?). We don't have them here, but have beautiful bluejays instead.
Took the boys to school this morning as they had their saxophones and I'm a softie not forcing them to walk the 1 1/2 mile carrying those awkward cases. Dont' know why they brought them home on Friday though when neither of them practiced at all this weekend. LOL But by my driving it gave them 15 extra minutes to get ready this morning, allowing both boys to shower since neither of them showered this weekend either. LOL Otherwise we usually trade alternate days, unless they are especially active (sweaty) or dirty. Of course I have a kid who probably should shower every day yet only showers if you tell him to, and another kid who could get by probably with showering every 3rd day but who likes to shower daily. Figures.
Not sure what the weather is planning on doing today. Kind of gray, cool and a bit breezy at the moment, but no rain, although it was sprinkling earlier.
It's Monday. What else is there to say? Focusing on the living room today for my 15 minutes stints of decluttering. Yep there is still some Christmas residue out, so will be working on getting that back into the basement. Just have to have the boys haul boxes up and down the stairs for me as I can't do that myself anymore.
have a great start of the week. Do something nice for someone else today.

Just a quick note. I called my mom (Nylene) Sunday night and she had the flu. I hope she'll be up and around soon. I hope the rest of you can get healthy or stay healthy too.

sending virtual chicken soup to NYLENE hoping she kicks the flu out the window quickly and doesn't give it to her dh. Nasty stuff.
I don't have the flu but I'm feeling really odd today. I had some stevia in my tea (in hopes of cutting down my sugar) and ever since I've had a headache, dry mouth and feel like I'm going to vomit. Hope i'm not getting the flu. Don't think I'll try stevia again. Anyone else have a reaction to stevia?
Otherwise I managed to spend over 1 hr sorting, filing and responding to paperwork on my dining room table. Made good progress (nearly 80 done but there is still more. That's all I feel up to doing today though.

Sylvester continued to eat like the end is near, lol.
Nylene, get well soon, you know how unstable we become if you or Cindy are missing in action. I am sending cyber soup and cyber ginger ale to soothe you.

Yep there is still some Christmas residue out, so will be working on getting that back into the basement. Just have to have the boys haul boxes up and down the stairs for me as I can't do that myself anymore.
Debi - glad I'm not the only one. Dh has to put our stuff away in the garage. I'm unable to do that as well. I had back surgery years ago and ever since then, I try not to lift or carry heavy items. Btw, thanks for letting me know about the digi gallery. Not sure how the layout ended up there.
Angie - thanks for the update about your mom. I think we were all getting quite worried not seeing her here.
Nylene - hoping you are feeling better soon. We miss you!!
Maribeth, Jana & Linda - I don't have any Copic markers. I used to love coloring when I was younger but not sure if I would use them much in my layouts. Plus they seem like a big investment. I'm sure if I went to a class, I would HAVE to have them.
Cindy - love, love, love your cardinal layout! You did a wonderful job of highlighting the photo. I wasn't able to see your birthday party photos. Maybe because we're not friends on FB? Btw, would love to see your crochet work. I don't know how to do any needle crafts other than cross-stitch. I had learned to knit but have already forgotten how.
Kelly - sorry about the gallery. I think I read a thread that said that there was an issue uploading but it was fixed. Hope your issue has been resolved as well.
Pam - I think idling the day away sounds lovely, especially if you're ending the day with a long soak in the tub. It's getting windy here where I am. I'm not looking forward to that since it means my pup will be scared. He's terribly afraid of wind and thunder, poor thing. Btw, I was thinking of you today since you're the resident cook/baker. I had the day off and tried a new recipe. I made a braised chicken with rosemary, sage and pancetta from a Williams Sonoma cookbook. It was quite tasty. Let me know if anyone is interested in the recipe and I can post it or pm it to you.
I got a layout and a card done today but still need to post it in the gallery. Maybe tomorrow...
Have a great week, everyone!

Good morning everyone!
My depression over work situation is still very present. Here are those layouts I promised you on Monday. Hope you enjoy.
Churches My continuing project with the same basic layouts (inspired by GeorgiaMolly) for Churches, Courthouses, Portraits, and abandoned buildings.
Portraits continued
Courthouses continued
Twiggy on orange
Sara's Music This layout was difficult to photograph as everything reflected in it, but you can get the jist of the layout in this photo I think.
Have a wonderful day everyone.
Nylene - hope you are getting well (knock wood, no flu in our household yet this season)

"morning" all..
Kelly, I had the same issue with posting a lo,,then checked back today and it posted twice,so I deleted one. ??? Sometimes I get that server error message too. Probably due to high volume of posts and changes to the website... I have no idea really. Just thrilled that we mostly have this great place to chat and gallery to enjoy.
Sassiescrapper, your recipe sounds divine. I am a huge fan of Williams Sonoma catalogs, products and recipes. One of my fantasies is to be able to have an unlimited budget when their catalog arrives to my door.I am going to look up your recipe and try it. tfs... I do have a couple of their cookbooks and they are also divine.
Val,thinking of you and your loved ones daily...
Nylene, are you still on sick call? If you had anything like I had,it lingers quite a while and idles you. Here's hoping recovery will be soon.
Debbie, when you mentioned lugging boxes for storage,it reminded me of my storage room in the upstairs of the garage. It has a ladder, but I am afraid of heights .. I can get up ok,but I am afraid to come down. I hope that is my one and only phobia, lol. I usually ask one of my children or grandchildren to go up,while I hand them the stuff to put away. One of the trillion reasons why my late husband was such a magnificent helper for me.Word of advice, don't get old, lol.
Maribeth,I am so enjoying your pages...wish I could see some of your lovely architecture in person. I love the rounded edges of adobe and the texture of many of those kinds of structures. Also, I have long been fascinated by the many designs of court houses and municipal type buildings. tfs
Well,I have been quite windy, hello to all my other pokey friends.Hope you are enduring the snowy weather or winds etc.
Knutschen, how are your furry friends? Sylvester sends a purr.
Soon Come pam | |

PAM I agree getting older has its challenges but since I've been dealing with rheumatoid arthritis since I was a teenager, I've gotten "old" before my time in that I don't have the ability to lift, climb, even walk as most people my age. It's frustrating but its a "what is" if you KWIM. I do what I can and try not to sweat the rest.
NYLENE hope you are on the mend. That flu can knock you for a loop. I lost 8 lbs and a good 2+ weeks to it in October. Stay hydrated and sleep as much as you can. We'll be waiting for you here.
PAM I have to ask, being relatively new to Pokeys, what is the meaning behind you signature SOON COME PAM? Curious minds (well nosey ones) want to know. LOL
Woke up with an aching shoulder and pain when I breathe suddenly or deeply. Hope I'm not getting pleurisy again. One of the drawbacks of long-term chronic rheumatoid arthritis. Unfortunately NOT the only drawback.
Ok dryer just buzzed, meaning I need to navigate to stories of stairs to the basement to retrieve the clothes and fold them. Still got my morning dishes to do (well some last night ones too), if I'm being honest. One task at a time.
Have a great day. Take your camera with you today and photograph something that makes you smile.

A warm hello to all my favorite peas! Things are not sounding good around here. I have been taking care of the sickies and so far I have not caught it yet! The grands had it last week and I watched them. Now the DH and the DD both have it and I still have lucked out-good handwashing I guess!!!! Plus I throw everything I can in the dishwasher.
Nylene-hope you feel better soon! Virtual chicken soup to you my friend!
Pam-we are waiting for the snow-you will get it before I do. The rain has stopped but it is very gray today. The birds are telling me it is coming as they are eating a lot today.
Maribeth-I am so sorry younhaave to work oin a bad situation. It just makes the job ten times harder. Hope things turn around for you soon. My DD is in the same type of situation and it is very hard to make yourself go in there everyday.
Thanks for all your kind words on my layouts-they are appreciated.
Here's a layout I worked on this morning-and yes it is digi!!!

Happy Wednesday! It is beautiful today and I hope to make a trip to M's and see some crafty stuff. Hope they have some new things to see.
Here is the Valentine's card I made for my dh. He loved it and that made me happy.
Valentines Card
Also, here is that envelop lo I made for the Scrap Your Stash challenge. I was so disappointed when the computer problems prevented me from submiting it but it still makes me smile. It is a special lo to encourage and inspire me. The pictures are of me and love how it all turned out. Fun challenge!
Just Be
Anne- That chicken sounds so yummy. I want to try new recipes too. I get so bored with my menu at times.
Pam- The gallery is ok now. Yippy! I also think lounging is a fantastic thing especially on a raining cold day.
Cindy- Keep washing those hands girl! This bug is no joke.
Nylene- Sending you soup, too. We miss you! |

Happy last day of February! I didn't get much scrapping done this month but hope March is more productive! You are all inspiring me to get at it.
I hope everyone continues to feel better. I think we finally all got over the flu here.
I have my last tests for this week, today and tomorrow. I hope to have some answers next week...

Good Morning Peas! I have a heavy heart this morning as one of my instructors from Creative Passions passed away yesterday. Pattie was a great teacher, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was also a designer at Designer Digitals and will be truely missed. We traded emails and she lived about 20 minutes from me.
Nylene -Hope you are feeling better. My DH and DD are still battling this flu bug and I am still trying not to catch it! Hope to hear from you soon.
Big hugs to all my scrappy friends this morning! You all mean a lot to me. |

Anne, Amigurumi is crocheting stuffed animals. I had to get into my scary closet in my extra bedroom today and found all the yarn I bought for my class on Craftsy. Now, I just need time to sit down and start!
Pam, Orchids are so pretty! I have never attempted to have one since they are a little expensive for my non-green thumb.
My furbabies are doing good. I need to take Pheobe and Pandora to the vets to have their teeth cleaned. Phoebe also has a cyst on her back that I would like removed. I hope to do that in the next month. I am confusing Felix as I have relocated his dish to the scratching post. I am sure one day he will catch one but he keeps walking around the old spot for a while till I show him where I put his dish.
Kelly, I am enjoying my vacation! I haven't been able to get used to being awake during the day. I keep falling asleep in the afternoon and then can't sleep at night. I have yet been to sleep! I hope to sleep for a few hours and be up all day today. I have all day scrapping on Friday and Saturday!
Nylene, I hope you get to feeling better soon!
Cindy, I am sorry for your lose.
We have had 1-2 inches of snow with some sleet this week. It has stayed below freezing and it has stuck around. It might get above freezing today but still cloudy. I looks like next week the weather will get a little nicer, of course when I go back to work! I started getting ready for my crop last night and need to finish today.
I better get a few hours of sleep! Have a nice day! |
