Will you tell me what to go check out?
Who makes good how to videos?
any good sites to visit?
I plan to use it just for basics like titles on my LOs. I'm hoping its user friendly...that I can push a button & go....but I have a feeling its not going to be so.
I think I'm having buyers remorse cause its gonna be too hard to use! I never figured out how to use my gypsy!!

First off...I love love love my Cameo. I think the software is super easy to use and you will be able to make titles, etc the first time you go to use it. Way way way easier than the Gypsy. Make sure to download the Silhouette software (free) and start playing now.
I love the Kerri Bradford classes. She has 2 specifically on the Silhouette (beginner, advanced and one for the designer edition of the software). You can find her classes on jessicasprague.com.
Have fun wtih your new toy and you won't regret it for a moment!!! |

Kerri is an amazing teacher. I have loved every class she has done, and the money was well spent. There are others at You Tube that are also great teachers. Doodling Debbie and 2TinyTreasures are the ones that come to mind right away, but there are MANY wonderful teachers there.

another Kerri Bradford fan here!!! and I'm pretty sure her classes are on sale right now at Jessica Sprague!
Don't be like me...jump in and use it and you will never look back!!!! I let mine sit on the desk for over a year and was never used because I was intimidated!!! Omg. now that I've learned to use it I can't stop!
Have fun!!! | |

great! Thanks for the info.
Next question...where do you buy your images?
and one more...this may be a dumb question - but I really know nothing...but do I have to do anything special to have my words connected? It was a PAIN to try & meld (I think that's what it was called)with the gypsy & I never really figured it out.

Yes Kerri's classes have 25% off at the moment cos she is moving them to her own site soon. Definitely worth investing in the two cameo classes and there's a third called colour me up or something which is really good.

You can buy your images right through the software at the Silhouette store although there are other places as well. 2peas sells some, for instance. However, for just getting started, the Sil store should be the easiest for you. There is a small computer mouse icon on the left side of the software workspace. Click that and it brings you to the store.
Welding is easy to do in the Cameo. You can just type your words, scoot them close together so that they are touching and then you can click weld. It's under the modify tab (upper icons, the one with the M) and then click Weld. (You need to make sure that there is a box surrounding the word you want to weld, but once you start playing with it, you'll see what I mean.)
I can also recommend Online Card Classes for their Make the Cut class. The second part of it has info on the Silhouette Cameo. That's where I started to learn everything and then I signed up for Kerri's second class and then her color class.

so...it seems like I'm looking for SVG files?
What I am looking for is colorguard stuff....how do I go about it? google colorguard + svg????
I know I can write the word myself...but I'd like an image.
It looks like from what I can gather I need to upgrade my software from the freebie that comes with the cameo - is that right?
