UPDATE
After ScrappinBetty offered hers up for sale; I took her up on the offer. I received it today along with an awesome surprise stamp! THANKS SCRAPPINBETTY!!!! I appreciate it!

Now...off to find pics to scan

If you do, could you tell me about it?

Are you happy with it? How does it do with old old old photos?

Where did you get yours? I can't find a retail location that has it.

It looks like a mini scanner - but instead of putting the photo on the scanner you put the scanner on the photo. I get it.

I got one for Christmas. It is very easy to use. The reviews said that battery life isn't good, but I was able to scan in a whole photo album on one set of batteries. The cover comes off if you want to scan bigger items. You have to scan those in sections and it has software to stitch it together.

My husband bought it at the flip pal website. He also got the carrying case which is nice to have if you plan to travel with it. It works fine with old pictures. If you need help repairing and editing old photos, Jessica Sprague has a great class to help with that.

I ordered mine online. Saw it at Scrapbook Expo two years ago. They kindly advised me to buy it online because if I bought it at the show it would cost more because of the software. I had no use for the software because I have a MAC. They already scored points for that! I think it works great. I have scanned many old photos and the quality is good, it's very easy to use and very handy. By the way, if your photos are 4X6 or smaller you put them on the Flip Pal just like any other scanner.
I haven't had much luck with the whole stitching a larger photo together though, but I haven't really given it much time.
Hope this helps. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

I have one and love it. You can put it on the photo or open the lid and put the picture in it. It can scan at 600 dpi, or lower (I forget what resolution the lower setting is).

I scan a lot of photos at a time, and yes, I usually have to change the batteries. I use rechargables, so I just have to remember to keep an extra set charged up.

I love that it is portable. I use it when I visit relatives and want to copy their old pictures.

I don't know about the battery life, but they do a nice job on the photos. I scanned over 100 on one set of batteries and it still was not run down.

I haven't tried the stitching software. I got it mainly for scanning my in-laws photo albums so I don't have to try and get the pictures out of the albums.

Works like a charm. The good reviews are because it's a great product.

I also received one for Christmas. It seems to work very well. Besides photos, I have used it to scan newspaper articles which required several scans. Overlap about an inch on each scan (as the directions recommend) and it stitched the article together flawlessly. I was very impressed. Extremely easy to use right out of the box. I would recommend it. My son bought it on the website and it was delivered promptly.

It is an awesome product. I was lucky enough to see it when they first launched at CHA and was very impressed with how well it worked and how easy it was to use.

I bought one for my DH to use for family history projects, but he has never used it (he was mostly done with the projects by the time I bought it).

I am selling mine. Here's the cost on Amazon.com:
Flip-Pal

If you're interested, I'm selling it for $120 including shipping.

Is there a reason this would be better than a wand scanner like the one they sell on HSN for around $99? Just curious

I love my FlipPal. I have had it about 6 months. I scanned all my mother's childhood photos. Now I am working on my husband's. No computer needed, I can scan anywhere, like in living room while the family is watching a movie.

Not sure how many photos can be scanned on the battery life, several hundred or more. Guess it depends on resolution and type of battery.
