I was sorting some stuff out in my scrap room and I found a whole box of patterned paper. Meaning I have double the amount I thought I had! I am pretty sure I have enough to last a lifetime!! |

Depends on the size of the box!
I did three purges last year and purged over 1/2 the paper I owned. The remaining stack is still taller than me at 5'2" tall. It does include all of my collections though so maybe it isn't too bad! |

Hah, I had my epic paper reorganization session of 2013 yesterday. I thought it would take me all day, but it ended up just taking 3 hours and I am so much happier to have wheedled out the stuff I will never use and condense what I have into papers I can still see myself using and combining with other papers and even new purchases much more easily. It has really breathed new life into it. I have a healthy pile to give away for rehoming, but still a shelf and a box full of "old" paper that I can rummage through must more easily.
You can never have enough patterned paper, but it's nice when you fall back in love with what you have. |

Don't think my paper is taller than me (I'm 5'4" however I did feel like 15 cropper hopper of 12 x 12 paper was way to much for me. So....... at one point I had matched cardstock to my pattern papers so I had was ready to use the papers. However I recently switched to my background paper/foundation would either be kraft, white or black. So I did not need as much cardstock. So I went through that and pulled out only the textures I like about like crisscross, and a couple of others I don't remember the name. The rest of what I pulled out went to a coworker with 2 small kids who needed some goodies. (she was excited) After that I went through all the pattern papers and separated them by transparencies, die cut papers, velvet/flocked, glitter, dots/circles, stripes, flowers, journaling, grids, words, chatterbox(still hoarding it lol). I love it. Now it is much easier to find stuff and use it. Found lots of paper I had forgotten I had and fell back in love lol.

Definitely!!
I know what you mean, I feel like I have too much at the moment. I usually use cardstock for backgrounds, but last night I went through all my old patterned paper and made kits pairing with my photos to use up some of it - for nearly each kit I made sure I had a whole sheet of pp to use as a background so it's used and out of my stash!
I recommend doing it for older stuff, otherwise I'll never make a dent in the pile!

My wake-up call was needing to empty out a BIG tub of random supplies in order to pack what I wanted to take for a weekend crop. I came home from the crop yesterday with the desire to clear out a bunch of that stuff, a lot of which I knew I would not want to keep -- or take with us, or store, when we move to S. Africa later this year. So far I've cleaned out that tub and reduced it to a stack of paper about a 1/2-inch tall and a reusable grocery bag (with space left over) of embellishments and paper scraps. I also emptied out a small drawer of chipboard embellishments (got rid of most of the "naked" chipboard), cleaned out a couple of binders (compiled in 2003...) of flat embellishments (filed some in the paper files I'm now using, added some to the giveaway box) and have started on another box. I've got a banker's box FULL of stuff (paper and embellishments) ready to give away to our local Girl Guides troop, and I know I will be purging a lot more yet. Feels good! Oh, and this is AFTER I purged my patterned paper during the ScrapRack organizing class a year ago and gave one box away and sold another one with several hundred sheets of patterned paper.... I need to address my cardstock soon, as I hardly use it any more.

I'm a paper hoarder too. I have to purge at least once a year to get rid of the excess. I try to keep the stuff I really want to use but when I go through the two cropper hoppers and find 47 of almost the same black and white chevron papers throughout multiple manufacturers, its time to cut some lose. |

I have 2 huge boxes full of paper because I have no room and it is in the closet so I constantly have to remove everything out of the closet to get to the boxes on the bottom. I need a bigger room but it is the only extra room that serves as a guest room, office, sb room.

Haha, love this thread *joins club of happy scrapping enablers*
It's an addiction, this thing with papers.
I keep trying to convince myself that I most certainly absolutely feel really guilty when I buy even MORE paper. But... you know... it's hard to fool myself. Maybe I think I should just accept the fact that it is just one of those things in life, where buying pretty papers just satisfy me on a completely silly level and it makes me happy.
Granted, if I stacked my papers they would not be taller than me, but I AM reaching a point where I am running out of space to store my paper in a manageable way. And that's when it turns into a clash in my little scrappy brain, because I love to keep organized as well.
All jokes aside:
I remember when I started scrapbooking, and could fit all my papers into one 12x12 folder; one stack of papers 1 inch high at the most. I remember that it took me ages (well, it could take days) to put a layout together, I never felt I had enough choices.
Well, I do now And I am very grateful that I can "shop from my own stash", and always find something I love to use.
