Are there products that you love & have come up with a thrifty way to recreate/fake/imitate?? I just made an attempt at recreating the Dear Lizzie 5th & Frolic gold spot vellum & a couple of variations. I think it turned out pretty great & used it immediately on a layout. It really didn't take too long & little tricks like this, just might help me stay frozen & use the things I love. Take a look at the fakes: gold vellum fakes

Wow, you did a great job with that! I like to make my own embellishments, but I don't think any of them are quite good enough to be considered knock offs of other products.

I did recently DIY a transparency sheet by using a background stamp and some Staz-On ink on a piece of plastic from some embellishment packaging.

I bought that paper and it is expensive! You did a great job. I just don't have time right now to do stuff like that. I would never get any scrapping done.

Is this an instrument of torture or communication?

I was thinking of trying something similar with gold embossing powder. Does anyone know if the heat gun will melt the vellum?

This looks great but I don't have metallic paint

I do this all the time. I usually buy papers that I can't recreate but I don't buy the embellishments because I make them myself to look just like the companies.

I do this a lot and help run a blog where we share three tutorials a month AND fake our own kits using our stash! Come see us! Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog

tiffanyo, I've never embossed on vellum but I've seen other layouts where it has been done, and it looks great.

What are you looking at?

That's such a great idea! You did a great job with the DL vellum. I have one piece that I'm hoarding - it rang up as the price of a regular sheet of paper at A's (not sure what the price is supposed to be) and I wish I would have gotten at least 5 more pieces.

Tiffanyo - One of the GG showed heat embossing on vellum in a video last week so it seems to work. I haven't tried it myself but vellum is pretty durable.

Looks great!

I've done it a couple of times, not recently, but I had been thinking of recreating some valentines embellies in the last couple of days.

I have been waiting forever for this to come back in stock. After seeing this post, I tried heat embossing on vellum and it worked great! Just remember to do it quickly and keep that gun moving because the vellum will melt. I have a picture on my instagram if any one would like to see how my sheets turned out.

dani_nelle is my instagram user name. I wish I knew how to link.
