Well done Katie on your PR, can't believe you took so much off it when you were ill - just imagine what your time will be when you are fully fit
Got 4 miles in today, although my legs felt very heavy at 3.5 miles. I was just not feeling it today |

My half marathon is next Sunday, so not much running for me this week. CrossFit today and tomorrow, run Thursday, mobility Friday. Gotta keep things stretched out for Sunday! |

Day off of running for me. I'll get in 3 miles tomorrow.
Dh and I are thinking of changing our gym because we have a Spartan race in June. He's out of town, so I went solo to try a free class at Soldierfit, a pretty local boot camp type place but without the yelling. It was friendly, work at your level but super tough. I will be sore tomorrow, I know that much.
I want dh to try it, but we need something to really boost our strength and ability to complete some of the obstacles the Spartan will throw at us. The penalty for not completing an obstacle is burpees! (30, I heard, blech) |

Got in 2.4 miles this evening. Looking for a slower week before I start half marathon training cause my left heel is still giving me a bit of discomfort.
Finalized most of my race schedule for the year, at least one a month through December and a mix of 5k, 10k, and half marathons, so I'm excited! |

I ran 2.7 yesterday. I had an incredibly busy day at work, so it felt really good to blast it off on the treadmill. Turned up the i-pod very loud and turned up the speed. |

Zumba and 3 miles last night. I'm still sore as hell after that soldier fit class on Monday though, especially arms and chest. Luckily my legs can still move. |

Ran a very hard 3.5 miles last night. I was on the glucoaster all day yesterday, so I wasn't really feeling that well. It was hot and way humid but I finished! My blood sugar started at 176 and came down to 108 at the end with no insulin. So glad I made myself go
It's supposed to rain all day today, so I will probably TM it tonight.

Whoops - haven't even seen the thread so I haven't checked in. (Anyone else have a Daily Mile account?)
I did four miles on the treadmill last night. Tonight, I'm switching the kids off with DH when he gets off work, tackling five miles, and then going to a Whole Foods customer panel meeting. I'm hoping to finish my mileage early enough to at least partially de-stink myself before that meeting. I'm bringing a change of clothes, baby wipes, and perfume, and hopefully that will do the trick.
My first marathon is in less than a month - eek! I'm crunching numbers to decide whether or not to take advantage of the early start or not. If I start early and have a ridiculously great day, I will have to seriously slow down at the end to avoid getting DQ'd at the finish line. If I go with the normal start and have something weird happen, I won't make it under the time limit. I'm hoping that at my next one, I will be faster so I won't have to make such a tough decision.

Wasn't planned to be one but I realized my passport will expire while I am in Florida for the Princess Half Marathon. Oops!
So ya, my run morphed into standing in line at the passport office.

I had one like that last week. It was 60 degrees in Ohio, I ran in shorts and my time was amazing. I smiled the whole time! I could have easily gone twice as far but it was getting dark. |

It didn't feel like anything, but I'm pouring sweat right this second. Weird. I guess I'm just used to walking outside where it's like 40 degrees and keeps me cool.

3.1 yesterday and 3.1 today. My calves were killlllling me at the end of it today. I haven't increased my distance or speed etc (except for the 2 times I did 4 miles) so I'm not sure what was up with that. Tomorrow is a rest day. I'm thinking that's a good thing. |

Thanks everyone for the kind words for my PR!!
Sounds like everyone has had a great week! Beth- congrats on the Hyster-versary! Can't believe it's been a year already!!!!!
My legs are not quite ready to run. Maybe tomorrow. I REALLY need a run after the whackjob on the lose today, beginning in my city this morning, but I'm not going to push it. Instead I will nurse the bag of Reeses hearts (damn those things) and recover from the stress of trying to keep 30 sixth graders minds off the idea of a man with a gun!

I did Week 5 Day 1 of C25K on the treadmill. I was really nervous about it, but it felt good. On the last 5 minute interval, I was smiling the whole time, because I knew I could do it. Now, I might be crying on Monday when I have to hit that 20 minute run. I started out hoping that I could run more of the 5k than I walked, but I am really beginning to believe I will be able to run most of it, and it feels good!
TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY I LEAVE FOR FLORIDA (and my 25th Half Marathon) AND WILL BE WARM AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
Maybe we will pass each other in the airport. We fly into Orlando on the 21st too. Have a blast at the half! If I survive the 5k, I will be putting a Disney half on my list.

If you don't mind I will offer some advice on the return to running. It may seem conservative but hubby and I have a rule......no running for one week after a full marathon........walk, power walk, hike, cycle but no running.....
After all it's only a week and your legs with thank you. We have never had a post marathon injury unlike many people we know who return too soon and end up with aches and pains.
Of course I don't mind & in fact I welcome it!!! I planned to follow the Hal Higdon post marathon recovery plan, but that had me running 2 miles tonight. I chased after a 1st grader running from the playground yesterday. I am SURE that my legs are not ready. I'm going to follow your no running for a week rule!! |

I did 2 miles today...wanted to do 3-4 but ran short on time and it was HUMID as all get out. I felt like I was running through sludge.
Tomorrow I'm doing a bunch of mobility and some short runs in between (1/2 milers). Saturday-rest Sunday-half marathon! |

I don't know if I have a full in me....
Any words of wisdom on this one?
Don't pick a Intermediate training plan for your first and then ignore two of the recovery weeks by running 3 half marathons, a 17, and 19 mile run in 5 weeks. Seems obvious but sometimes runners are dumb and think they are immune from overtraining. Then you might end up run/walking the half instead of doing your first full.
I'm finally feeling like my legs are getting back to normal. I had a great 5 mile run tonight where I got faster each mile and felt good when I finished.

Candygurl-that's fast to me!
I was supposed to run a 10 mile race tomorrow but they postponed it due to all the snow we got and now it conflicts with my indoor tri. I've had the makings of a sinus infection for a few days and I figured I'd rest and taper and now I want to jump out of my skin. |

Plugging away at the Couch to 5K Program Week 7 Running 25 minutes at a time which is HUGE for me!! Woot!!
I officially felt like a runner last Sunday when I ran my 25 min in temps with a wind chill of 6 degrees Fahrenheit. A neighbor opened up her door and yelled, "Girl, you are crazy!" As I plodded on by---totally made my day!
I love reading about everyone's efforts! Keep on running!
