I have a regular feature on my blog I call "A Peek at My Process" You can see the latest one here.

The Burning Question Is: would you rather see this with photos and a brief explanation, or in a video format? Just trying to decide if I should take the plunge, get a YouTube channel, all that stuff.

TIA for your input!

I think your still shots show a really nice progression in building your layout. You've done a great job demonstrating how you make your page from start to finish.

I do know that scrappers *really* love videos, though!

Your style is fairly clean so the photo process (at least this one) seems to work pretty well. And the page is cute!

I will totally agree with the previous poster and say I am a sucker for video. I particularly love when the thought process is included so I can hear why you do what you do.

Could you maybe do both?

I think the layout you showed is fairly self-explanatory (and really nice BTW). Maybe do videos for layouts that require more explanation?

It IS always nice to actually "hear" the reasoning that went behind design choices, I think.

I recognized this layout from the gallery that I looked at yesterday.
Beautiful! Love the cameo cut background, but I did not recognize the strips around the edge because I was looking at the center of the layout. I am so glad you shared this!

Love seeing the progression. I'm one that rathers photos with a brief explanation, as I don't always want to take the time to go through a video. Photos I can skim! Just saying.

your step outs are perfect sue!! for people like me i don't have time to watch a 10 minute video on scrapbooking- i have to admit i have NEVER seen any of the videos here at 2 peas ( i know i am in the minority here) but... i just don't have the time-- i love your step outs because i can see it in 1 minutes and it is cool! i love the start to finish

OK I will be the 'different' one. Unless I am seeing something that requires a lot of explaining I prefer to look at pictures such as yours. Videos seem to take too much time and can really drag on.

I can seldom watch without doing a lot of 'fast forward'

But I seem to be alone with this thought process

I'm another who isn't a big fan of watching videos. The picture progression is great and I can look through it quickly.

I like both.
I like the photo tutorials because I can just look and really absorb what you have done.
But I also like video to hear any extras that aren't in the photo description.

I do make videos...it is a lot of work to get everything together, then tape it, then edit and lastly upload...which takes about 45 minutes for a 5 minute video.

Even though I do videos I like to keep mine short. I don't have time to watch a 1/2 our video, so I try to keep mine under 10 minutes..5 if I'm lucky.

Maybe try a couple on video, if its not your thing then stick with the photo tutorials.
Do what you want to do...its all in good fun either way

I vote for pictures! Maybe if you find the process difficult to describe via picture...then do that one in video format.

Always enjoy your work!

I would love to see you do a video. You obviously love teaching and I would like to see this translated to video. I think a lot of scrappers could learn from you.

Your photos do a great job at showing the process but if you are ready to jump into the video world, go for it! I myself am not there yet but think it would be a fun adventure!

My two cents from the perspective of a viewer: I really liked your photos and your explanation. As for your burning question, Photos are nice because you can just go the one you need more info on and read the explanation. Takes two seconds to do that. Videos on the other hand take a long time to watch. But what I love about them is I get to see how much the person plays with the position of photos or emebellishments. Yep, a response that is not answering your question.

My two cents from the perspective of a poster: Videos are all the rage with design teams. I'm thinking that if you really want to become "famous" and be on many design teams, you might have to do videos. But if you are just blogging for enjoyment and for sharing with a few close friends, you can stick to photos.

I actually prefer the photos to a video.

Videos tend to be long, and I can easily be distracted (or even annoyed) by someone speaking. In fact, if I do watch a video, I prefer that they be so self-explanatory that I can mute them and still understand what their process was.

I like to be able to look at the photos, come back to them as needed (as opposed to trying to find the right portion of a video) and move on.

*But* I am going to guess that I am in the minority with my preference. I think in general more people probably like to see videos.

I like both actually.
Although on blogs I think I prefer the picture format.
I don't always have time to watch a video and if I do carve out some time, I tend to come watch the videos here at 2p's.
Not videos on blogs because I can't always find them again when I do have the time

If you did a video though, I would be interested in watching.
I read a lot of blogs though and might not have more than a minute or two.
So maybe a link on the side of your blog to your videos would be helpful for finding my way back since I read your blog regularly

I prefer no video... Simply because I tend to do a lot of web surfing on my phone, and videos don't always play well.

I liked it without a video. I feel your instructions and the good photos you provided are enough.

It's great Sue, love the layout. I'd rather it the way it is now - step by step photos. My internet is pretty slow and I get frustrated waiting for videos to buffer, so more often than not I click out without watching.

I'm off to check out the rest of your blog. TFS.

I enjoy both formats. I can get a lot from photos that I can't from videos, as usually they are sharper and show more detail. I like videos for the sake of the creator explaining things that may not be evident in photos only.

I say do what works for you. Share your work in the way that you are most comfortable and able to keep it coming on a regular basis!

I love process videos however it all depends on the person, their voice and their process (whether or not they're tapping their fingers for a minute on camera.) having said that, I really like your stills!

It's nice to have both if you are willing to do that. I don't always have the time to watch a video, so I like to see photo tutorials. But if I have time to watch videos, I like to watch them, too. Sometimes things are explained or shown more clearly and with added details in a video. Finding the time to watch them, though, is hard for me.
