In Shimelle's archived Cover to Cover class that I'm currently working my way through, one of the printers that Shimelle recommends is York Photo. I just checked them out online, and their prints are really cheap! 9 cents/print!!! Plus they're offering free shipping right now on orders over $20.

Here is the link to their website.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I'm no help now - but I know my dad used them in the old days! ya know pre digital...he sent the rolls of film off to them - they've been around a while. I'd try it - you don't have much to loose especially at a decent price & if you hate them you still can reprint them using someone else.

WOW! York Photo - they're still around! I used to use them a long time ago too! That's great they're still around. I'm going to check out their website - thanks for sharing.

We used them for film printing. Also Clark - they might even be owned by the same company.

I haven't done digital through them though.

I received a coupon from Shimelle before and I tried them and loved their prints...they were much more vibrant than Shutterfly when the same pic was placed next to each other! Send me your peamail and I will refer you and you can get 60 free prints and I will get a store credit. I pay a little more with them but I like the prints better.

It was fate that I would enjoy paper crafts...my name is Sharmon (like the TP)!

My mom was another who used them back in the "Mail out your film" days.

Years ago...probably 6 or 7 or so, I sent a few of the same photos to Shutterfly, Snapfish, York, & Winkflash, and I definitely liked the York prints the best at the time. I've been using them since then and haven't had any problems.

I did recently want to try someone new just to see if I could get back prints that were really super fabulous for this year's PL album, so I am trying mpix right now.

If I don't feel that they show a noticeable enough positive difference then I will go back to using York for this current album.

I still plan to use York for the backlog of pics I need to print. I just thought that if I could get awesome prints by paying a bit more, I wouldn't mind doing that for 2-4 weeks worth of photos at a time, kwim? But a couple years' worth of pics is an entirely different story!

Thanks you all you lovely ladies, I went and checked out York Photo and really like it.. it seems easier than Persnickety Prints at the moment.

However, I noticed you can't upload the pictures straight from your phone.. is this true or am I missing something here?

Most of my photos (esp for PL) are on my phone and I'd love to be able to just upload them from there...

Not quite as cheap but i ave been uploading from my iphone to Postal Pics and I have been happy with the outcome. Super easy and fast as well. I have even loaded the app on other family members phones (it's free) and loaded some of their pictures that I wanted a copy of placed the order then removed the app off their phone. Yes they have know I did it, they just did not want the app left on their phone (think brother)

Thanks for all of your input, ladies. It looks like York Photo has been around a while, then.

Melanell~ Would you mind posting again when you get your photos back from Mpix and let us know if there is a noticeable difference between them and York? TIA!!!

Sure thing. I am waiting for those mpix pictures right now!

I have a notebook where I jot down brief notes on what photos I take each month, and then I mark when I printed them and who did the printing.

(Because prior to PL I scrapped in any old order I felt like, so I didn't print my pics in order, either.) And I was flipping through it today and the vast majority listed in there (2005-2013) were printed from York.

Thanks! That's quite a great system you have to keep track of when and who printed your photos. Do you print them matte or glossy? I had never printed matte photos before, until I decided to print some last month from another well-known printer. I just didn't find the colors were as vibrant as glossy prints.

I started printing matte about 10 years ago. Before then I always printed glossy (ever since my first camera at 10 or so years old).

Then when my SIL had her first baby and she started sending people photos, I noticed that hers were matte and I really liked the look of them. Plus, they don't pick up as many fingerprints as my glossy ones did.

My mother just switched from glossy to matte about 4 or 5 years ago after she decided she preferred it, too.

It's definitely a different look, so I think it's definitely a personal preference type of thing.

I've used them since I took Shimelle's class and I've been pleased. Get on their email list for coupons and they have Facebook offers too. I found their shipping to be a little high so I usually try to use a free shipping coupon.

I just placed a large order with them and was pleased. I also print everything in Matte as I haven't liked glossy prints for years and they came out decent. I have only printed 4x6 with them, so I can't vouch for their larger sizes. If I print anything large or that I want framed I tend to order from Adorama.

I have always liked York, and have used them for the past 4 years or so. Their photos are good quality, they have great customer service, and frequently run 3 or 4 cent print sales. I'm a loyal customer to them!

I've always preferred matte, don't care for glossy. That's one thing that's annoying about Walgreens. If you pick up at store you're stuck with glossy.

My mpix pics arrived today.

I bought the 19 cent prints. Those are only 4x6, do not have a choice of papers, and do not have any color correction done.

(You can also choose the 29 cent and up priced prints, which give you 3 paper choices, 29 size choices, and expert color correction.)

So, the 19 cent prints, in my opinion showed no real visible difference from the York prints. They felt the same and they looked very much the same. If anything, I actually think I like the look of the York ones a bit more.

So some day, maybe I'll try the 29 cent prints just to see if there is a "Wow!" factor to those, but for now, I'll just stick with York.
