The Mini requires you to use a computer and be online. It uses their Cricut Craft Room program. I have read that some people love it, and some people hate it. I was not particularly impressed with CCR. The Gypsy is much handier for me, anyway, and I can sit and watch TV while using it, or take it to the LSS.

The Expression can stand alone. You don't need a computer. I take mine frequently to the LSS, where I scrap with friends. Since I also have a Gazelle, an even better cutter, that uses the computer (and better software), I would never spend the money for the Mini. I love the Gypsy for welding and manipulating Cricut designs. I use the Gypsy all the time, but Provo Craft no longer makes/sells it. You can do some things with the Expression 2 that you can do with the Gypsy, but not that much.

You can use the Cricut Craft Room with the Expression 2. You have a lot more capability with the Expression 2 than with the Mini, for many reasons. You can also cut your own cards and envelopes, and a lot of other projects. You can do that with the Mini, but it will limit your size.

I wouldn't waste money on the Mini. I recommend the Expression 2 if you are buying a Cricut machine.

Any Cricut system is more expensive in the long run than other electronic cutters, though. You should also consider the Cameo, but it has more of a learning curve. It also has more capability, and the Silhouette store sells designs individually, for better prices than the Cricut Craft Room individual designs.

I'm wanting an E2. Does it work with the Gypsy? I currently have all my carts linked to my Gypsy which I use with my current Cricut. (The one that uses the 12x6 cutting mat)
