I have a Gypsy that I bought and have never used, but I have loaded cartridges on it.

Here's my question. I want to sell my Gypsy, but NOT the cartridges. Can I do this? Why, on ebay, do some people say something like, "there are 45 cartridges loaded onto this Gypsy, but the cartridges are not included with the sale."

Help! Can I sell it if I'm not including the cartridges, but there are cartridges linked to it?

Feeling dumb here....

I dont know much, but I know that provocraft has been shutting eBay auctions down if the seller isn't including the cartridges. You are technically supposed to sell the cartridges with the gypsy. However, people list them on here without the carts. I bought mine on here.

CAN you do it? Sure. Are you SUPPOSED to? Absolutely NOT. A cartridge can only be linked to ONE Gypsy--EVER. There is NO way to EVER unlink it, only to relink it to the same Gypsy if it were repaired (and if it were repaired, all carts would be wiped and need to be relinked) or linked to a replacement Gypsy which would be given the SAME serial number--so still need to be relinked.

Say someone buys your Gypsy with say, 45 carts linked to it but YOU KEEP the carts. Then the Gypsy breaks and needs to be fixed or replaced. They would get either a fixed Gypsy now with NO carts on it, or a replacement with the same serial number and still NO carts on it. Without the actual carts to relink, they are out 45 carts. Even if they rebuy those 45 carts--assuming they are all even still available and not retired--they CANNOT link them to THAT Gypsy, so they can only use them in a machine.

Hope that makes sense.

Why haven't you used it? You REALLY SHOULD. It isn't as hard as you may think, it is so fun, you can do so much and also save a ton of paper and time.

Posted mine on Craig's list and sold it there. I did the most recent update and told the gal that she could bring it back to me for future updates. I didn't sell any of the carts with it. I know Provo says it's a no no. I just never embraced my Gypsy. I thought it better to go to a home to where someone else could use it.

I listed mine on ebay without the carts and the listing was removed. I ended up selling it with the carts and selling all of my cricut stuff.

Here is my thought on it. Cricut should come up with a way to "unlink" a cartridge because you have a right to resale an item you bought and until they do so you are stuck with the gypsy according to the Eula agreement. Of course they are not going to do this because it is not in their best interest to do so. If I were you I would be upfront to the buyer that they are paying for the gypsy and the linked cartridges are a bonus since you can't guarantee they will always have access to them. Being upfront will protect you and the buyer. That way they make an informed decision if they want to go forward.

I am with AmyBugCrafts, I have seen them listed here for up to 700.00. I think if something happened to it in a couple of months, I am out 600.00 worth of cartridges. Ouch.

I sold mine on eBay on a Saturday, one day auction. If you sell them longer, or on a different day, Provocraft will ask eBay to pull the auction. I had 35 Carts linked to it and it went for a little over $200. I only used it a couple of times and was glad to get rid of it and the person that bought it was thrilled. I then used the money to buy a Cameo, which I LOVE.
