About 65-70% of my job is spent at my desk lately. In the past I listened to CD's or the radio. Now I'm finding that I listen to talk radio on SiriusXm more often than I listen to music.
It's one of those things that makes me feel old... |

Even the Ipod with earbuds can't cover his loud voice. He has no idea what an 'indoor voice' is!

Not working now, but a few years ago I had a budgeting/finance job (no customer contact). I either shared an office, or was next to the front desk or near the sales staff.
I have the nice over the ears BOSE speakers. I listened to my IPod for at least part of each day. I have lots of Winter Solistice/Windham Hill albums on a playlist. I also have a more upbeat rock/pop playlist for the end of the day, to perk me up.

At my day job, I have the radio or my ipod playing, we aren't allowed earphones though, so I just keep it low. We also have humidifiers this time of year so that white noise is nice! My boss is always on speaker phone at top volume, so even though he is 3 offices away, I can still hear everything! I try to drown it out, especially during his daily 10 calls with his wife!
When I work at home, the TV is usually playing, which isn't helpful, but I work in the living room so I don't have much choice!

Sirius NASCAR - all day long.
Almost that -- I can't stand the "Men of the Midday", Chocolate drives me nuts, so I listen to Pete & the Bagman in the morning, and The Godfather & Angie in the afternoon (love their shows with Kelley & Delana!).
In between 11-3pm I'm listening to The Highway, Willie's RoadHouse, Outlaw Country, and flip around the 50's, 60's, and 80's when those get too repetative! I find Sirius plays the same damn 8 or 9 songs all day! |

I work in a 100+ year old building on the top floor with dormer windows and a huge office. The rest of my co-workers have already gone to telework (hopefully I'm next), so it's me and my supervisor right across the hall. It's so freaking quiet and he is in and out all day. I usually have some talk radio on and at times I stream courttv or some other talking show.
It makes me feel so old that I chose talk radio over music because that's what my grandparents did. |

When I worked at a Library, No, extra sound would just get to grating on the nerves. And low volume radios/music would absolutely drive me insane. It is the "humming" that gets me.
When I worked as a caterer/pastry cook I didn't like the radio on either because it was just more noise.

I also work from home but am not into music. I have a small TV in my office and it is always on. I typically have my back to it as the computer I work on the most is located at a different desk. But I tune into the TODAY show from 8am until 11am and then switch to DSS and have Law & Order or NCIS marathons running. For me it is the noise - and I don't really have it up very loud as I can still take phone calls but they don't hear the TV noise anymore than they would hear other office background noises. I have been working from home for 2 years now - prior to that I was in an office environment (cubicles) for 20+ years so it was a major shock to go from constant noice, talking, interuptions etc. to NOTHING....so the TV noise keeps me from going nutso. |

I stream music mostly from my Amazon Cloud Player. I have my whole music collection stored there so I can listen to everything I own without having to manage playlists on my iPhone. I wouldn't mind listening to Pandora but it is blocked on our work computers and my AT&T connection is spotty at best while in the office building.

It depends on what I am doing. I put in my ear buds and listen to a lot of audiobooks and occasionally pandora and Abc.com or other downloadable shows. I use it for background noise and to block out those around me.

This is totally me! Including the NCIS and L&O (and Criminal Intent.) The background noise helps me concentrate. It can't be anything I haven't seen or would pay attention to.

Oh yes.
I have listened to Pandora, the Dave Ramsey Show, various podcasts, etc
Right now I've discovered TV shows online. From cross stitching I have developed the habit of having the TV on and only glancing at it occasionally. I find listening is enough most of the time so I generally have it on in the background.
Maybe someone will tell me no at some point but it hasnt happened yet, and I get plenty done all day.
Right now I am proofing and approving database records. I just compare the records to the actual book or journal and it doesn't take a lot of concentration. When I have something that takes a lot of my attention (like data forensics) I need it completely quiet so I won't have anything on at all. |

Yes, I always have music on. I turn it off whenever my boss is in my office discussing some issue with me. I can't use earbuds because I need to answer phone calls from appellants periodically, and various people are always in and out of my office throughout the day.
I listen to various radio stations. I bought a Tivoli radio 5 years ago, and the thing TOTALLY rocks. I work on the 18th floor of the building and so reception is really bad, so I finally had to buy a radio with an actual antenna (not the pigtail antenna). Clear as a bell. It has an IPOD dock and I use that periodically.
I have my own office so I don't have to share a space with anyone (thank goodness) so I listen to whatever station I like.

I usually listen to christian music when I'm alone on my cd player at my desk. It is only me in my office on Mondays, and on Fridays my pastor works as well. His office joins mine, although we can close the door if he has meetings or appointments. I generally don't have the music on when he is there. (I only work there 2 days a week, as the church secretary.) |
