SPOILERS...
I never guess anything correctly, but I got the Supreme Court justice right on this one. Never saw the rest of the evilness coming though! To (plan to)kill your husband when he was planning on protecting you?!!! The look on the President's face as he killed. The cold shoulder to Olivia and then his smarmy run back to his wife?! Whoa. So much packed into tonight!! | |

I'm sure that they will eventually show that Fitz' mindset change is due to the bullet in the head. If you remember when he first woke up the doctor was telling him and Melly that sometimes there are personality changes with that type of head trauma. I was kind of expecting a turn around in his feelings for Olivia and Melly because of that. | |

I haven't liked Fitz from day one. I don't like Liv either. Good at their jobs. Not good on personal levels. I clapped during the last scene last night bw Fitz and the first lady. | |

See, now I don't see it as a change at all. I think he has a plan. I think he's angry at everyone for the rigging (had to be a blow to the ego to know you couldn't win without cheating) but that he still wants to be with Olivia.
I don't see how Melly can say that she loves him so much and always has when every time he's tried to go against her, she has threatened to take him down. True love doesn't come with blackmail or threats, IMO.
I think he's employing a "keep your enemies closer" kind of angle with Melly.
You all have to remember that this is Shonda Rhimes we are talking about here. She is the queen of "HOLY $&#^!!" plots and writing...lol.

OMG I love this show! Although I wondered why Fitz decided to stay with Mellie and not Liv when Mellie was part of the whole vote fixing plan too. Then I read this on some blog.....makes sense!
He has faith in his buck toothed wife because like Fritz said, she has always showed who she was. When he was running for president, Mellie lied about being pregnant to help his numbers increase. She induced labor a month early, she forged his signature and she made that public statement regarding that situation in Africa so Fritz would have to send over troops. Mellie has always been cunning and Fritz knows that about her. She doesn't try to hide it. That's why he said he could trust her. Now Liv. Liv use to tell him while he was running to show his heart and that would win the election. She said for him not to do underhanded things because it wasn't in him to do that. Liv was his moral compass. When he looked at Mellie, he saw this evil woman but Liv was his angel, the angel who believed in him. So for him to know that Liv helped rig the election means she didn't have the faith in him that she said she did. Also they were always so honest with each other but Liv did this behind his back. So he can't trust her. Mellie wears her emotions and everything on her sleeve.

I like the idea that Fitz's change is because of the bullet wound in his head. I don't like mean Fitz. What did the judge mean she owed it to Fitz's father?

I am so excited to see what happens...you know Shonda is famous for breaking up the super couple only to get them back together. I saw it many times on both Grey's and Private Practice. I believe that Fitz and Olivia will be together eventually.
I understand that Mellie has done a lot but what I see that no one else has pointed out is that every one of the things she has done has been to preserve herself as much as Fitz. She has mentioned on more than one occasion that she wants her own political career after being First Lady, so the more successful her husband is, the more successful she will be. She is banking political capital. I think her true nature is revealed every time she threatens to take him down. And its happened at least twice that I can remember.
I think David Rosen would be a wonderful addition to Pope and Associates.
One of my favorite scenes was in the elevator with Hollis, Huck and Charlie. Fantastic scene...lol. "As long as you do as I say, Charlie won't do his job." or something to that effect...LOL. | |

I agree, I don't think he would change that fast. He loves Olivia too much.
I guess I was shocked at the final scene, where he actually killed Verna. But when he was at the hospital, and David Rosen was waiting outside the room to talk to Verna, I wondered if something was going to happen because he was alone in the room with her and Secret Service was no where close by.
I love this show. The last two episodes I have watched, I have found myself sitting there with my heart racing. So intense!
