What do you all think of the team concept? I don't really like it.

Do you have any favorites so far? It's kind of at the point where there are still too many designers to really know who to pull for.

I'm still not sure, I suppose it makes sense if this is what really happens in the fashion industry (not something I have any knowledge of).
I'd prefer it if the mixed up the teams for every challenge.
I'd didn't know Michael Kors was gone, so that was a bit of a surprise, but I like Zac so far.

I really liked the Aussie guy's first dress, but the second outfit was horrible.
The first girl who went home - I think that has to be the worst outfit ever made on PR.
I cannot believe Susan Sarandon was completely unaware of the existence of 'skorts' she seemed to think this was the best idea ever.
I actually liked the kilt.

But the whole concept of her club...drink and play ping pong...yeah, count me out of that! I bet most of her clientele is guys, which is probably why she came on PR to promote it ad get more people to go.

I think the older guy with the moustache seems pretty good, I loved his first outfit, plus he seems nice too.

I like the team concept because it makes for more conflict. These last few seasons the designers have been way too friendly to each other.

With the one team losing so many members I think they're going to have to reshuffle the deck.

Well after last night's episode I am a bit sad. I liked having Cindi on there to represent another demographic. I mean, Heidi is not 21 anymore either. So I thought it added a different vibe, but right from the beginning they trashed her stuff, so why did they cast her on there? There was nothing fashion forward about the bondage dress - it looked like a Halloween costume. And the Aussie's guy's hot mess of a dress - was that really 'better' than Cindy's little dress?

I thought the Native american girl's pink leather was much better than the gold and leather dress. The black and pink corset dress was the cutest of all of them - deserved win, but I am feeling both last week and this week that the brown hair girl who won last week and her mini team won this week, that the other person is the stronger of the two; she just seems to go along with them. It will be interesting to see what she can do on her own.

I haven't watched it yet, but I figured she would be the next to go. The older women designers don't seem to last that long. I think Peaches and SweetPea made it the longest.

I love the guy with the big mustache.

I hope this is the only season where they do teams. Yes, there is a lot of collaboration in design, but don't most teams in the industry have a leader? That's the problem here, all this jockeying for position.

I miss Michael Kors, especially his comments about pants. If you did not make a good pair of pants he was on you like white on rice. There was no passing off a saggy crotch or a cheek chafing butt on those pants. "The crotch on those pants! She looks like she's got something 'extra' in there!" Made me laugh every time.

I think they should have a Project Dead -- one challenge where they design costumes for The Walking Dead.

Cindi isn't gone for that one little dress she's gone because she's been in the bottom 3 all three times and they just do not like her style. I did not think the dress was 'that bad' Certainly not the worst of the three this week. I agree with you as to " why did they even cast her on the show if they didn't like her stuff right off the batt.

On the other hand I have agreed with the winner and most of the top 3 each week so far this season and that is extremely unusual. They usually like stuff that I think WTF, and always pick the 'worst dress' (IMO ) of their top 3 to win so I'm surprised so far that I have agreed.

i have watched this show from day one and usually love every moment...i am not loving this 'team' idea.

i would think (i can barely hem so i'm not a designer and/or having sewing talent) that in a 'real' design house there is a leader with a vision - they design a collection and then pick/design the textiles and the 'team' gives any additional input/feedback and the busy bees get to making the vision come true.

in this PR there is no leader,on team 'keeping it real' they do bounce ideas off each other but i don't see a whole lot of helping with construction until it gets to the end/crunch time (although they do talk smack about how they do/don't like someone's idea and it could hurt them in the end).

i didn't care for Cindi's fabric choice (irr. taffeta) from the beginning but i don't understand why her 'team members' didn't steer her from that and point her in another fabric choice to better their 'team' chances....???

it seems like they are still looking out for themselves rather than their team.

I've watched this show from the very first episode on season one and I'm not even the least bit interested in watching this season because of the team concept. I hate team challenges, why would I want to watch a whole season of it. I didn't even DVR it.

I'm not sure I like the team concept. I mean..the one team is really doing poorly. Can they just keep widdling them down there? til there's like 9 on one side and 3 on the other? KWIM? I didn't think Cindi's dress was that bad!! I mean..like someone else said, Heidi is NOT 21 anymore..and I knew she would pick that one yellowish dress with the leather trim, becuz I swear I have seen her in that same dress before!!
I LOVED!!! the native american gal's dress! and I've loved everything she had done so far! She is very talented! That would have been something totally original and different, and good.

I miss MK.
I think it's nepotistic (is that a word) for Heidi to use the teams for her own purposes.

Not really into the teams concept.

I don't mind the team concept. They have to know how to work with others. And I had no problem with Cindy going home. There are still others who are "older." I thought everything she made was awful - there was nothing trendy or fashion forward at all.

I wasn't keen on the team concept this season, but I'm actually liking it okay. I think it makes sense and flows nicely. They work in teams, but they are also very much on their own.

When I saw the first team's designs go down the runway, I like almost everyone of them. Then the second team sent their stuff down and it was so clear the first team was the winner. The second team was AWFUL!

I was good with the winner, although I thought the second winner should have been Native American lady. I LOVED that dress. My dh didn't like it all though. I think he's nuts!

I was also fine Cindy going home. That dress was pretty IMO. I agree that all of her stuff has been bad--bottom three three weeks in a row, it was only a matter of time. I wasn't wild about her personality either. And I know this should not matter, so please don't start scolding me, but the fact that she is older, well-established in her other business, wealthy, and with a beautiful studio...well, I would just rather see a designer that is struggling financially to get it.

Again, I am confused about why Cindi was cast in the first place? They must have liked her point of view. Oh well, she's gone now. Someone has to go.

Twice out of 3 weeks the native american girl was in the top 3 and didn't win, even when it was 2 out of 3 last night. Might be something about her own style they don't like. Because Heidi said she wanted two different looks but ended up changing the category of the mustache guy and choosing two gowns.

The teams are not so bad, except I think people have gone home who didn't have the worst stuff but they were on the losing team. But everyone does create something, except for those 2 shared garments.

I don't like the team concept, but I think they thought they had to do something different to make up for the loss of Michael Kors. I like Zac, but I think the loss of Michael Kors was huge-no one can deliver those one line zingers like he can.

I can't help but believe that somewhere on the planet there is a 50+ female designer who is not stuck in the eighties. I suspect that Cindi and Peach were chosen more because they fit the den mother role, than for the fact they were great designers. I'd like to see Project Runway pick a mature female contestant who designs modern clothes.

I don't understand why so many people keep asking why did they even select Cindi if they don't like her designs? They selected her because they liked what she brought to the casting session. That doesn't mean she will be able to produce for the show. That's what the show is about; otherwise, why not just select the best portfolio at the casting session and call it a day? What someone can produce in their own studio, for their own client, under their own direction and their own timeline can be very different what they produce under the constraints of the show. That dress Cindi showed last night was sub-par to anything she brought to the casting session. She seemed a little conservative at the casting session, but her construction looked really good and I think she surprised them with that latex coat. So...they gave her a chance and it didn't pan out. I completely see how that could happen.

Cute (to me) story: I watch PR with my 10 year old daughter and when Daniel was talking about the "Bond Girl" influence on his dress, my dd said: "Oh, just like the guy on the Dream Team was inspired by Bond Girls."

I thought for a second and was like "what is she talking about?" It was Matthew's dress, inspired by "bondage."

LOL!

Just got caught up.

I'm glad Joe went home. The whole show I was thinking "WHO is Joe?" I thought they were unfair to Amanda. She has been calm and performed well during all the weeks they won. I don't think she should win the whole thing, but her dress was definitely better than Patricia's this week.

I've liked Patricia the whole time and think she should have won 2 challenges that she got 2nd or 3rd for. But this week's dress was hideous. I didn't see any kind of style or design. I thought it was a mess.
Glad to see Ben is improving on his time management.
cheers,
Cindy

They did. They let dream team (losing team) pick 2 people from the other team and then they let keepin' it real pick one from dream team. The dark haired girl with the circle tattoos kept saying "don't pick Patricia" over and over because she doesn't like her and lo and behold, keepin' it real ended up picking her, so she's on the same team with Patricia after all.

I couldn't understand why they all said the teams were so close this week.
It wasn't an Avant-garde challenge, it was using unconventional materials. The team who won made very obviously wearable clothes. They could be reproduced in fabrics and look great. Based on what they had to use, their collection was stunning.

Most of the other team made clothes that couldn't be converted to fabric, and if it was no-one would wear it. Patricia, Joe and Amanda's were all horrible and even that black 'blind' dress was awful, and they totally dropped their big collar idea which may have saved it,

As far as I could see it wasn't even close, there was a winning team and a clear losing team (based on the brief).

I agree. I was shocked when they said they LOVED both collections. I think sat gape-jawed staring at my tv for a few minutes. I thought the losing team's collection was just awful. Every single piece that the other team was good. I definitely wouldn't have picked Amanda for the win though; I would have chosen Matthew, Benjamin, Stanley or Layana over hers.

I do the same thing-it takes a while to remember who is who. I only remembered Amanda because of how everyone threw her under the bus, and Samantha is my dd's name.

I know. I'm surprised I didn't remember it for that same reason. I felt terrible for Amanda. And the judges didn't like the way she handled it (felt she was defeatist) when I thought she actually handled it very well. Normally the designers cry, shout, start pointing fingers back or engage in all levels of nastiness. She acknowledge what they were saying, but was surprised and said she didn't agree. I thought she was great.

I think if they wanted to switch it up, they should have done like a "couples" type thing where contestants apply in twos -- so like Ivy and Casanova could have been a couple etc. then the couples work together to create one or more looks per challenge.

I thought Amanda handled that well. I hate it when they go back and forth with the blame and fingerpointing. They said she needed a lot of help and support to finish. Her garment was not bad compared to the guy who got voted off (sorry, can't remember his name). His poor model looked like some kind of overgrown sea monster with all that crap hanging off and the boxy thing underneath.

Next week should be interesting as poor Amanda has to go back with everyone who tossed her under the bus.
