I recently purchased some of Timmy's dies, and i LOVE LOVE LOVE them, but I am finding them hard to use. Does anyone else struggle with this? I am having a terrible time trying to figure out how to paper piece using the dies, am I missing something? For example, the vintage camera die - which I have in both sizes, how the heck do you get it to look so lovely with different layers.... like on the cover? I also happen to have this same struggle with the Sizzix dies in which it obviously should be paper pieced but the die comes out connected. Does that make sense?
Am I making it too complicated? any help would be appreciated....

I do not have the full size / bigz version of the camera die you are referring to, only the mini mover & shaper one. I know what you mean, though.
Try cutting 2 of the one you need, contrast colours or 2 shades of the same colour (light & darker). When the cut has been done, flip one over & you will see the little circle which represents the lens of the camera has 3 concentric "rings" which can be cut apart easily with a Craft knife- they are only joined by a millimetre or so. Same with some of the other detailed bits. Layering the colours gives you more of the look you want. Good luck!
