A young man in Orange County worked for Del Taco for 6 years. He was only 24 or so but recently passed away from a brain aneurysm. Unfortunately, his parents weren't able to pay for much of a funeral/burial. That's where Del Taco stepped in.

They ended up paying for the whole thing!

It's awesome to hear of corporations going the extra mile for their employees. I go there every so often since their fries are the best around. They've been in business here for a long time and I hope they are still here for years to come.

It's a Higgs, baby!

What a wonderful thing to do for this employee's family. What a way to both show and inspire loyalty. Thanks for sharing.

My friend's mom passed away a few weeks ago. I know how relieved she was to find out that our church provides a funeral luncheon free of charge for members and their families.

My employer has a policy of paying $10k to the estate (surviving spouse/partner) of any employee that dies. It's meant to help offset the costs associated with a funeral, but can be used however the surviving spouse/partner sees fit. This is in addition to the life insurance policy that is carried for each employee (generally 1.5x their base yearly salary) should they die whilst an employee of the corporation. It's nice to know that some corporations do take care of their employees.

That is wonderful. Six years is a long time for a fast food employee to work in the same place.

That is nice to read! Though I don't consider it customer service--I consider it kindness to an employee/family.
