So I broke down and got a Mac. Hubby got it for me for Christmas. MacBook Pro, 16 gigs of ram, 512 solid state drive. It's supposed to be fast and fantastic.
So far, I'm not feeling it.    
Photoshop Elements is totally different. The structure for where my photos are is totally different. I feel like I have 12 thumbs and no regular fingers.
AAAAAAHHHHHHH!
Talk me off the ledge, please! I've gotten NO pages done in the last month. Nothing. Because I can't make the %%^@^$!!!! computer do what I'm used to. Tell me I'll get used to it. Please! |

I won't go back to a PC after using my Macs for 7+ years. Love it. I find it easier. But it is different you just have to get used to it. But I'm sure if you need help with something particular we can help. |

You will love it! I switched two years ago and it's awesome. Yes, there are a few small differences, but we can probably help you through them. Do you have PSE 11, or an older version? PSE 11 has some differences that are going to throw you whether or not you are on a Mac or PC. If you are on an older version, there are just a few little things to get used to. What's tripping you up? |

I converted almost a year ago and there is NO WAY I will EVER go back to a PC. I  my Mac. Both DD and DH drool over it too... when their PCs die, they will both be getting Macs.
I didn't actually find that there was that much of a difference. Sure a few things are different, but all in all, I didn't have much trouble. |

I use both, and I prefer my Mac, though I use my PC laptop more due to logistics.
My photo storage structure is the same on both, but that's because *I* made it the same.
I have PSE 9 or my Mac and PSE 10 on my laptop, and don't really notice a difference. I'm thinking maybe you have PSE 11 on your Mac now, which I've heard is very different from the previous versions? |

I'm not in love with my Mac. I upgraded the RAM and it still spins that stupid wheel/ball at me. You got a nice solid state, but I would still get an external drive for things. Idk....if I didn't have the thinking all the time, I would probably love it.
It seems difficult because PC has made their stuff hard and Mac makes it so stupid simple that it's hard. Google what you want to do. I think the hardest thing is screenshots.

Yes, I have PSE 11 for the Mac. It doesn't look like anything even close to the PSE that I've been using on my PC. I think I had 8 or 9, so I'm a few versions back.
Not being able to right-click sucks.
I would ask some specific questions but sometimes it's so overwhelming that I don't know where to even start. Grrrrr.
I have nothing against Macs. This is my fifth one. It's just the first one I've tried to scrapbook with. |

Nancy, you can right click using the track pad. Put your fingers toward the bottom and click the track pad and hold it down, you should get your right click options. Personally I do not like the trackpad, so I use a tablet. On which I have pre-set the stylus for right click!
I upgraded from PSE5 to PSE9 to PSE11, and 11 is by far the best. But, it does look a bit different and takes a little adjusting. I'm still betting you are going to love your new Mac and PSE11. Keep breathing.  |

Did you check out that YouTube video by Jessica Sprague made about setting up PSE11 and how to make it scrapbooker friendly? It had a lot of helpful tips and made the program seem much less intimidating. |

I have had a Mac since 2007. Other than running out of memory my computer is still going strong. I handed it down to my daugher and last summer bought a new MacBook Pro. At my place of employment we are issued pc laptops so I have lots of experience with both platforms.
I am on my 3rd pc laptop at work because they are just not up to the standard of Apple. It is so easy to get stuff done on my Mac. I never have trouble finding things, dropping and dragging, and most of all I use PSE for scrapbooking. I also never have to worry too much about viruses and other pc related problems.
I realize that you paid lots of $$$$ for Apple products but I feel confident that my new computer will last for a long time. Apple support is only a phone call or an easily made appointment for free help.

Pick up a mouse that allows you to right click. Check on the box to be sure that it works with a Mac, most do. I am using a Logitech mouse right now on my Mac Book Pro and I right click all of the time.
I started using a Mac about 14-15 years ago when I went to work for a marketing/graphic design firm. It was confusing at first, but by the second week, I was in love, ordered my own Mac laptop and never looked back. I would not go back to a PC even if someone offered me a lot of money to do so. You can find answers to just about any question that you might have by doing a quick Google search. Or, of course, you can ask the Peas. There will be someone that can help you. |

I think change can be hard - takes time to get used to for sure... but I was totally PC and switched to Mac years ago and never looked back. Love it! |

I'm stressing about this, too. This summer I'm teaching a digital scrapbooking class to a bunch of fellow business teachers at a high school. But the school has CS5 on a Mac. I've used CS4,5, and 6 so that's not a worry, but MAC's? I have NEVER had one and find them akin to learning Spanish. (For all I'm a computer teacher!) So now not only do I have to learn to scrapbook on a Mac, and I have to TEACH A CLASS on Macs! GAH! At least I have until June to figure it out. Luckily there is a lab in our school that has CS6 on Macs so maybe I can figure it out. I played with it for a few minutes yesterday, and it just didn't behave the same! I tried simple things like adding a gradient, and the gradient didn't show up. And it just LOOKS different. I understand what you mean--its hard to describe, but you feel like your hands are tied behind your back! |

Takes time to get used to but u will loveeeee it!!
Tap your first two fingers on the mousepad to right click. Go into your mouse settings to see if that setting is on. There are other settings you will find useful in there too!

I'll keep playing with it. It's just ticking me off not to be able to do stuff as quickly as I can on my other laptop. My older MacBook is sitting just 2 feet away, still plugged in, and running Windows through Bootcamp. I should probably just hide it rather than let it sit there and stare at me. ;D |

Nancy, I'm sure you'll love it once you get used to it. I am a PC girl, but one of my daughters has a mac after being a pc person for all the time growing up, and she loves hers! I'm old and don't easily change though, so I'll stick to a pc. We got a new desk top a couple of months ago, and it's got windows 8 on it, and I haven't touched it!! I'm a laptop person now!! |

I think my mac heard me whining about it. On Wednesday, it froze on me, the fan whirred like something was on fire, and the whole thing died.
My solid state drive fried.
