I am so sorry for your loss. I know you feel for his family.

When my dad died suddenly two years ago, he was training Law Enforcement Officers and providing dogs to various departments. The local Sheriff's Department really had a rough time with his death. I sometimes see them out in public and talk to them to see how they're doing.

The worse part for me was that I had *just* moved back to NC. I had no friends here, and the only support I had was my husband and my inlaws.

It would have meant the world to me if any of Dad's friends, had called to check on us. My stepmom turned out to not be so great, and she doesn't respond to phone calls and actually sued my mom. So I have none of my dad's things, wasn't notified of the ceremony to put his portrait on the wall at the Sheriff's department or told when his ashes would be spread.

You don't have to "say the right thing" that is so overated. A hug and just being there means more than you'll ever know. It will help you grieve as well.

I have to see a psychiatrist for the some of the meds that I take for my chronic pain issues. The woman I go to is also a counselor and has been wonderful in helping me deal with my health getting worse, my grief, and other issues I have going on in my life. I definitely recommend talking to someone like this. It really made a difference to me.

Oh my. I am so sorry for you and for his family.

OK. Newbie. This is how it works. If your post consists of 80% sanity, 10% stupidity and 10% all kinds of crazy, we immediately focus on the 20% b/c it discredits the 80%.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure going to work will be very difficult for quite some time.

M in Carolina....I'm sorry for your loss too. It's bad enough to lose a loved one, but to be left out of the important parts of the grieving process, must make it even worse.

I am very sorry for your loss. I went to Sandberg's homecoming back in the day. I had a lot of friends who went there, but I did not have the pleasure of knowing your boss.

I saw this on fb posted by my dh's cousin, who works for d230. I thought he passed away from cancer, as there is a local coach fighting the good fight, but I couldn't remember his name. So incredibly sad.

I also graduated from Sandburg in '81 and have several relatives working at d230 and friends working at Sandburg. It is a small world. I am sure your fellow co-workers will be a great support to you.

It seems like he was liked by all.
