and I am not sure why. I checked her paw for stickers (which is the usual issue), she has no blood, is not whining, and when I feel her entire leg she doesn't whimper.

The vet can get her in Thursday afternoon or Friday.

Since she isn't in pain that I can tell, I am going to wait it out overnight and stay with the Friday appointment. If she seems to get worse we'll take her to a vet in one of the near-by cities.

Poor doggie.

Poor little fella. Maybe she will be alright when she gets up in the morning. Could she have arthritis?

She's 11, so it could be arthritis. Would that happen between this morning and now?

She may have damaged her ACL. My dog has damaged her back left one but, thankfully, not enough to require surgery. She will do something every once in a while to cause her to limp again. We just make sure she doesn't jump or go up stairs when it is bothering her. It usually doesn't bother her for more than a day or so (if it is ever longer than that I would take her in to have checked).

She did not have any pain reaction when we would feel her leg to check for injury. I know when the vet checked her when she first injured her leg, she held her leg above the knee and then would bend and unbend her leg and said she felt clicking.

I have an almost ten year old German Shepherd and he has this issue whenever he does anything strenuous.

We had him checked out and was told the big guy is just getting old.

I give him an aspirin and he is always better after chilling out for a few hours or overnight. He doesn't whine or flinch when we check the area, he just limps.

Too bad his all time favorite thing to do in the whole world is to run up the hill in our backyard to catch a frisbee thrown at him. We have to hide the frisbee and can't say the "f" word or he starts barking and whining to go outside to play.

Almost ten years old and he is a 90lb puppy
Hope yours feels better soon.

Just had my Bradley (maltese) at the vet last week for the same problem and he is not even 2 yet. Bad knee.
I had checked his paws too and squeezed everywhere etc, but he never acted like he was in pain and never whimpered. It was confusing. But, the vet messed with his leg and said it was loose. She gave us a pill to take for three days and I've been walking him more.

Our two year old cattle dog is recovering from a slight ligament tear in one knee. Same thing - limping, no real obvious cause. Vet says she probably tore it spinning out on our hardwood floor.

The last time one of my dogs was limping, my chiropractic vet [my dogs compete in agility] had me ice the leg for five minutes, 3-4 times a day. Limit play and jumping as well.

Hope your pup is OK!

My dog did that back in June - started limping for no apparent reason. The vet didn't know what it was, but gave him pain meds and told us to keep him quiet for a week to see if it improved. It did. But then a couple weeks ago he was running in the yard and came up lame (we saw it happen - he yelped and pulled his leg up) - same leg. It was his CCL (doggie equivalent of ACL). That's probably what it was last time but it mended itself. This time it didn't, so he's going to have to have surgery.

Your poor doggie. I hope it's nothing serious.

My dog started limping and I couldn't find an injury to his leg. Turned out he had a pinched nerve in his neck that was affecting his leg. Some steroids and pain pills and a huge vet bill, he recovered nicely. Also. I started using a harness instead of a collar to walk him because the vet thought it may have been caused by him pulling on his leash.
