In 2011 I gave up any scrapbook purchases for Lent. It was hard, but I realized that I was spending because I could, not for a need. It has made me change the way I purchase scrapbook supplies since. In order to curb the craving to spend, I would go to Michael's and just walk around the store to see if anything new had arrive and then walk out of the store with nothing. When I would get emails for scrapbook sales, I told myself that another sale would come again, which it did. Have I gotten better? YES! Do I still purchase? Of course, but with a different mindset and not as much as I used to.

I don't give stuff up for Lent. Instead, i try to do something nice for someone everyday. Even if it is just opening a door, or letting someone in when in traffic.

No, nothing craft related.

I gave up eating meat last year for Lent and it turns out, I never went back to eating meat. So, a year later I feel better than ever, both physically and ethically.

I honestly haven't given any thought to what to give up this year. I like your idea of drinking more water, though, so I might give up carbonated sodas this year.

I have given up crafty purchases in the past and it was hard. It reminded me of how fortunate I am to afford to use my money for something so unneeded. For a long time after, I was much more aware of all of my spending, not just my crafty spending. I am currently playing the part of a Frozen Pea so I will not be "giving up" crafty purchases for Lent. But I do use this time of year to remind me of how much my family and I do have and how we can put some of our resources to better use.

No way!! I couldn't even think about letting all this stash sit for an extra 40 days of my life!

Hmmm...that would be a good thing for me to give up! I can't do it though and now I feel selfish!
