This looks like such a fun weekend. I would to take my Mom.

Wondering how much the classes cost and what you get in the classes?
Do you have to bring your own tools?
Is it jam packed and not fun due to crowds and out of control scrapbookers?!

I have been 4 times and plan on going this year!! I love it! The classes are awesome. They have make and takes all over the mall. The price of the classes are good I think. They range from 18.00 to about 30.00 depends on what the class is.

LOTS of people. Yes, super crowded. Long lines for make n takes the couple times I have gone. Booths are all over the first floor of the mall. Classes vary in price. I have never taken any of the classes. Now, I just pop in to see a few specific people and be on my way.

I've been 2 out of the past 3 years. Very fun event. It's very crowded. The lines at the Make and Takes are so long that I find it to be a waste of time. However the classes are great. Depending on the vendor you can get some extras. The instructors work for the company and in some case they're the owners which is fun. Tim Holtz is usually there. I took a class with Teresa Collins last year and she is so sweet. I got to try out new products some of which I went out and bought. The Archivers store is packed with stuff. They have a sort of clearance annex down in the main rotunda area where you can find some good deals. This past year my friend and I loaded up on classes (I took 16) instead of spending time in the Make and Take lines. It can be tiring but it was the right way to go for us. I flew in from MA so I figured I would take as many classes as possible since I was paying all that money to get there. Unfortunately it's just too far for me to go every year but I would definitely go again. All the scrappers I met were so nice and friendly.

I think th eclasses are a good value for what you get (kit, etc.) but I was amazed that every class was 45 minutes. So you take home A LOT of unfinished projects. The make and take lines are long, I couldn't stand doing more than a couple in a day. I live 45 minutes away and had never been, but after lst fall's experience I'll definitely be back, and probably for more than 1 day!

I live about 45 minutes from the Mall and have attended 8 of the 10 events. Even though my friend and I live fairly close, we book a hotel and stay for the duration. We love the Country Inn and Suites for the close proximty to the mall, free shuttle, breakfast, and crop space that they make available for the event.

To be honest, the first few years we did several classes and then did make and takes during our free time. This worked well, and there were some AWESOME projects well worth the time standing in line. The last three years though, we no longer wait in line for make and takes--the lines are unbearable for any of the more quality make and takes and it is just not worth it to us anymore to stand in line for an hour plus to make a simple card or such. Instead, we load up on TONS of classes--which are all well worth it in my opinion. We also try to do at least one Manufacturer sponsored Crop--which is spendy at 50.00, but fun and if you pick a good one--well worth the money. This past Scrapfest we attended the Heidi Swapp crop and were loaded up with lots and lots of her new Sprays and products. She also had a darling doughnut bar set up with dips and sprinkles---very fun! She also had stations set up with sprays and resist products to try out, which was a very nice touch.

Despite the long lines that have now become the norm, I can't imagine not attending. We always have the best time! Hope you decide to come--I am sure you would have a good time!

I went to it for many years, but haven't gone the last few years. To me, it isn't worth it unless you are able to get some good classes. The classes usually become available the last week of July (usually I am on vacation and not able to sign up). I do try to go to one of the crops though. They are pricey but if you get a good one, you get some products, make and takes, demos of that manufacturer.

Last year my family and I went to Mall of America for our family getaway. Not even knowing that Scrapfest was going on.
Bad scrapbooker I know, lol

I got to watch Tim Holtz and Heidi Swapp teach parts of their classes. It was a family vacation, lol.
I was so excited to just be able to do that.
Then I got my photo with both of them

I don't know if I would attend. The lines for everything were crazy. I think I may get anxiety standing in them for so long.
Not just for the make and takes..but also for going into the classes or crops.
I didn't get Archivers to myself which I usually do, lol....it was packed.

I am about a 7 hour drive away.
I would love to attend one I am sure it would be a blast... but I would have to go with someone who knows the ropes.

I've been once and it was pretty crazy but lots of fun. The lines were long for the make n takes. Archivers was a zoo but I was glad that I decided to go.

The class usually comes out in early summer and signups are about a week later. You really have to be on your computer when it starts. It's such a popular event that it can be very hard to get into your favorite classes. But you can keep checking back to see if any openings have popped up. I did that and was able to pick up a few more classes that I wanted.

The lines for the classes are long but once they open the doors it moves quickly and there's a spot for everyone so there's no need to rush to be first in line.

There are usually several hotels that offer great rates for scrappers and they have shuttles so if you fly in you don't need to bother with a car.

All this Scrapfest talk is making me want to go again! Not this year since the flight can be expensive but definitely in the future.

Living about 20 minutes from MOA, I go frequently. I usually sign up for two or three classes, with two classes on one day and one on another. On the first day, I scope out the make and takes that I have to go to. Someday I'm going to remember to bring my camp stool so I can sit down in those long lines!

I love the classes, you really do get a good value for the money. Last year I took a class from Simple Scrapbooks and one from Carta Bella. Every class has give-aways and extras.

It is a very chaotic event, but if you go with the attitude to do only what you can and not push yourself, you'll be good!

Oh, and it is usually on my anniversary weekend, so my DH is very sweet about letting me spend long days at the mall and understands when I come home and all I want to do is sleep!
