We have two Boston Terriers named Gryffin (short for Gryffindor, of course!) and Kinsey Milkbone (named after the Sue Grafton character Kinsey Milhone). Most of the animals in my life have been males, but I did have a cat when I was a toddler who was named 99 (after my Auntie Ann who had given her to me, lol!). That could've been a cool name for a hockey fan's pet! | |

We have a lot of dogs in our family. They are all girls. Between my ds and my dd and myself we have seven. One golden and her name is Scout. One black lab and her name is Sailor. Now we have five shih tzus. Their names are Daisy, Lily, Peih-gee, Skeeter and Maggie. Can you tell we love dogs!  | |

First of all, congratulations. It's really good of you and your family to give this dear girl a forever home. We had a shepherd mix for 12 years - just said goodbye to her last June - sad day. Her name was Roxy and she was absolutely the best dog either of us had ever had. We also have Abby, and years ago, I had a female dog named Sundance - Sunny for short.

Okay we brought a puppy home today. It was not the one we originally wanted BUT she had several people wanting her.
My dh ended up getting one from a litter surrendered the day before. We are "fostering" her but we saved her from death row! If it works we will keep her.
So far her name is Mila. I will post a few pics tomorrow!! I can't remember how. I will figure it out in the morning! |

Sheila came with her name. She's an Australian Cattle Dog and I think about 90% of them are named Sheila. But it suits her.
We were going to name her Aurora Barky Alice (Aurora Borealis... get it?) and call her Alice. But when we adopted her, she was silent. For months. The dog never made a sound. We thought maybe someone cut her vocal cords, she was that silent.
Anyway, she eventually got more comfortable and now barks all the time. Just like a regular dog.

Our girl dog is Bullet, so I'm sure that won't help you much. Can you tell our then 8 yo ds named her?
If I were to get a shelter dog that was found running loose in town, I'd try to come up with names from the town for her:
Urban
Alley
Metro
can you name her after a street that's there?
Can you tell I just watched the silly/sappy movie "Darling Companion" about a couple and their rescue dog? She named him "Freeway" because that's where she found him. | |

My yellow lab is a chestnut color, she is Chewbacca, or Chewie, cause dh & ds wouldn't let me call her Woki.
My various cousins have Lindsay, Lily (both jack russels), Grace (mix), Lucy (RIP, she was a beautiful lab golden mix that would lay on the ground with her hips splayed like a frog), Gabby ((Shepard mix), Lucky (a boxer/pit mix) and the old guy Dexter (a lab golden mix) who is adored by all his cousins, especially Chewie who just him.
When we were young my cousins had a black lab called Misty. She was the best dog, loved to swim with us, hung by our sides no matter what we were doing.....

Yes, I swear I think the picture they had on Facebook made everyone want her. My dh went to the pound yesterday morning to see if they would release her a little early.
The lady said they had to wait until this morning to give her a chance to be claimed. She then told him that there were three or four people that said they all wanted her so it was gonna be first come first serve this morning.
She then told him about a litter of puppies who had been brought in a day or so earlier. The owner just brought them in and said he did not want them 
He went and looked at them and she was the one that just sat there staring at him and she melted his heart.
I hope it works out for us too. My boys are very excited. My eight year old dog is not as excited. I am keeping them apart until she gets a clean bill of health. Vet suggested for about 72 hours to keep them apart as much as possible.
We took her in to our vet this morning to get her checked. She appears to be healthy, there is a concern for some spots on her skin. She is being tested for ringworm but the vet said it could also just be from lack of care. I am keeping my fingers crossed she is all okay and we can make sure everyone gets along!! | |
