Are their any out there? If so what do you like to scrap & whats your style, favorite products to use, etc.?

I feel like the woman dominate this trade & was curious if there was any men (besides Tim holtz lol) that scrap like us woman do?? If so or if you know a man that does speak up.. Because I'm curious to hear what your style is like!

Mitchell Kraft is a 20-something male scrapper. I saw that he was recently added to a kit club team (gossamer blue, I think?). His style is nothing like Tim's, but I enjoy his work.

I've met several over the years, mostly doing heritage or personal history albums. One in particular was doing geneology and his albums were beautiful--very classic, no fluff, solid cardstock and fabulous journaling predominated.

There is a guy who lives around the corner from me that scrapbooks. He does more of the heritage layouts. He also scrapbooks his kids.

I don't know him, but let's not forget one of the most well known male scrappers - Hugh Hefner (the playboy guy). He's probably not a pea - maybe we should invite him to join the pod. Check it out here.

I just found out he got married again last month, he'll need to start working on a (another) wedding album now.

My brother in law is this type of scrapper. He and my sister in law travel a lot (retired) and he scraps all their trips, plus visits with grandkids, things he plants in the garden, etc.

My brother in law is actually the one that got my sister scrapping, and then me.
His work was very classic, more for documentaion of his travels...but still had a great eye for color and placement...had great journaling too...he doesn't scrap qnymore though. My sis does it all for them now.

Yes, there is a guy on the board, maybe he will chime in here! I can't remember his Pea name but he was posting a lot on the CHA threads.

Other than him, I have only personally met one other male scrapper in the 14 years I have been scrapping.

My bf asked if he could go with me to a crop but he would be bored to tears!

A guy posted on the 5 facts about me and you thread a couple of days ago. Maybe he'll see this thread.

My DH wants to get into scrapping and card making, he's made a card or two for me. He will as soon as I get the time to get my redo of my scraproom finished. I got an album for him for Christmas, it is a dark cream or sepia color and has musical scores all over it. The moment I saw it, I KNEW he'd love it to start scrapping the pictures I take of him playing the sax, harmonica & clarinet.

I was "mad" that it wasn't pink or purple because I wanted it to scrap my recital pictures but then realized it would be perfect for him! He actually DOES have a pea ID but only used it to post on the Chewsday thread when Mr.NiceGuy was still doing the dog version.

I worked with a young man who was making a V-Day album. We had so much fun! I saw at Paperclipping.com that a man commented about using PL to have his pictures of his kids (a divorced father) where he could see them and remember them.

I would love to have more men memory keeping. So many marriages split and I would think that many dads would love to have their pictures out of a box. Many men just don't know where to start with their memory keeping and they don't want to appear whimpy.

Let's make that a priority to help men who want to have their memories readily available and not in boxes .

I'm here!! The lone male scrapper that's posted the odd time on the boards... I've only been at this about a year, so I still have a lot more experience to gain. I started to scrapbook and journal my vacation experiences, which is really the entirety of what I've scrapped so far. I also got into card and tag making as well.

It's pretty hard to come up with 'masculine' ways to do a layout, and it's even harder to find embellishments, etc., that are not frilly foo foo if you know what I mean. It's not like I want to put flowers on a page, however the sewing/stitching looks pretty neat. Haven't tried it yet but soon I'm sure. I tend to use boy colors, and not a lot of pattern, and I'm not a fan of what I call faux male papers, like putting blueprints or tools on a page butches it up, not! So it sometimes limits what I work with. I do like to use paper/cardstock with texture on it in a layout.

If you've got any leads on blogs or other web sites on the interdolly that are for other scrapbook guys or masculine layout ideas I'd appreciate it. Rikkatikacrafts you mentioned some YouTube videos, do you have a link?

It's been a pleasure meeting you all, I trust our paths will cross more frequently in the forums. Cheers!

How awesome! Nice to meet you! I think it's great that your a scrapbooker! Everyone should enjoy memory keeping.. Push the pretty things a side and that's what this purpose is! I agree with you and the foo foo products! I have seen more and more company's coming out with more "masculine" colors and patterns in there lines.. As they should! I can imagine it being hard to choose and pick items to scrap with! Come to think of it I do recall watching a male scrapper on youtube once.. I believe his YouTube name was cardofmyeye.. But his style is very foo foo lol he works a lot with prima flowers and does crazy projects with them! Not really my style I'm more into clean, brights, pastels, simple pages with great layering and embellishments! I kinda hate flowers.. Maybe in small doses! But his work is great If you like that kinda look! He is really talented!

I'm glad you spoke up! And it's fun to here your style of scraping!

Welcome, KMoller! You need to post some of your pages in the gallery!

I enjoy "girly" scrap products, but trying to think of something that might be more your speed ...

Have you seen the Here & There collection from Studio Calico?

Jillibean's "Macho Nacho" http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/shop/jillibean-soup/128634-macho-nacho-collection-pack/?filters=physical-only%2Fjillibean-soup

Sorry, those are the only 2 I can think of right now. Hopefully some other peas will have ideas of more masculine product lines and some for travel pages.

I follow Eric Erickson on FB and his blog, Load of Scrap. Super talented!

Check out his website here.

Click on "load of ideas" on the left hand side to see his work. It is amazing!

Ironically there is a pea here who went high school him. Small world.

There is an ex-marine in my scrapbook circle who comes to our crops. He scraps his tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. I always wonder what he must think of the conversations that take place all around him in a room full of women.

Off to check out the others mentioned here.

Cheers!

My DH has done pages about some of his travels. He has a clean, linear style, very reflective of his analytical way of thinking. I find it really interesting to watch his brain working as he makes his design choices, as his approach is so different from mine.

A couple people mentioned my husband, Izzy. He just started Project Life last month. He uses the Cobalt kit I think and I find it interesting how masculine his style is. It's simple but bold. He likes to use the bold burgundy red that is in that kit and seems to like more solids.

I'm hoping to share some of his pages at Paperclipping.com this week.

He's waiting for the Rain kit to come out, too.

Just a side note - I thought the Seafoam kit would be non-feminine and that he'd like that but turns out I'm way off. Both he and my son say the color is very girly!

I also thought he'd like Midnight because of all the black and grey, but the hand-drawn stuff is girly, too.

I don't think Hugh Hefner scraps in our sense. I believe he puts all his photos in leather photo albums and keeps them in a temperature controlled room.

There is a guy with a blog, but I can't find it. Once I do, I'll let you know. I also recall someone by the name of Chris and he did stuff with the Cricut at Scrapbook Expo.

Kmoller,
I used to have a guy friend that started and got very discouraged for what was out there in stores screaming "girly hobby" at him. I wish I kept in contact so I can show him tge studio Calico, Graphic45, the Echo Park and October Afternoon. I honestly think this is the best time for guys to get into it because there is a lot of un themed, general, colors based collection this past 2 years.

KMOLLER- had to add that your post cracked me up, about the 'Faux Male' papers! Hilarious. I was once 'doing a scene'/entertaining some scrappers at a shop, acting (lol) as a 'designer for a paper company,' I was trying to imagine how these papers are 'born.'

"Well...it doesn't really look many enough. Put a deer up there, and put DUDEZ in distressed letters down there...okay, now make everything brown THAT'S IT!!!"

If any of the guys here are looking for non-girly but not overly-masculine lines, I really like Basic Grey's Basics line from a few years ago for LOs of my boyfriend (and myself, but I think it works especially well for guys). I'm sitting here planning out a page with it as I type. I'll be sad when it's all gone! I think I have about 3 and 3/4 pages of it left. I think you can still get the paper pack at Two Peas, but if not I know I've seen it in other online shops recently. Hmmm, maybe I should pick up another one!
