|Posted: 2/16/2013 11:58:12 PM|I can see benefits to both methods. I'm really behind on my PL right now after completely failing last year, so I'm wondering if the flexible approach where I'm still approaching the album consecutively, but not as stringent as one week per two page layout. Is there a down side to this approach? I know that Rebecca Cooper does it this way, or some type of a more flexible approach, and it seemed like maybe that would help me not feel like I have a wall to climb. Having to match photos to dates, and then make sure they're in the right pages sometimes takes the most time for me.
Anyway, any help or advice would be awesome! ( oh also loved how Cathy Zielske posted about how she lumped a few weeks into two pages once and didn't feel an ounce of guilt, lol, love that lady!)

I am doing weekly. We don't do much and I don't take pictures everyday. I usually catch up on pictures on the weekend. This is when we are the busiest. So far a couple of weeks were focused on Mardi Gras since here it lasts about two weeks with the parades. This week will focus on valentines day. If I need to find some filler stuff I put in a snapshot of the temps from the week. Every monday I get a snapshot just in case I need it. I will also include a drawing from my kids. I just give them a 4x6 piece of card stock and let them draw whatever.
Will I ever get to Buckethead?!

i follow a weekly scheme but sometimes i'll only do one page for a week, or even 1 page for 2 weeks at once. There is no way i could fill up 2 pages each week so i took that pressure off. I try to use pictures made that week but i'll "cheat" from time to time if i feel the picture might be better in another spread. . remember it's supposed to be fun, so just do it the way you like and feel good about.

|Posted: 2/17/2013 6:17:17 AM|I've been doing it for about 1 1/2 years now and I try for weekly but if I fall behind switch to monthly. Its happened about 5 times to me, where I've gotten distracted by something and several weeks have gone by and then I take a look at what pictures I've taken and there really aren't many so I just do a 2 page month in review. I'm happy with those pages. Then there was a vacation where I used 4 pages for 1 week. To answer your question I would not get all wrapped up with the dates. Just keep it manageable and you'll enjoy it more.

Beth Proudfoot has lumped weeks together or made four pages for a week in her PL too. She has a great blog that shows her PL.

I definitely do flex. Some weeks I don't take any photos, and other weeks I take far more than I could include in one 2-page spread.

My weeks run Monday to Sunday. We have a vacation that starts on the weekend of a previous week and runs into the next week. So because I am a total rebel and think i might get away with this under the PL police radar.... My week 8 is going to be Monday to Friday and my week 9 is going to be Saturday to Saturday. Sssh... Don't tell anybody! I don't want a citation.

My 1st year 2010 I took a photo a day and by the end of the year it was so stressful I just hated the whole process. Every since I just do whatever. Some weeks I might actually take a photo everyday. Mostly my spreads are a week in review. Lately I've done a layout covering 2 weeks at a time. I refuse to take misc. photos just to fill a spot. I also add in additional pages/layouts of big events like holidays and vacations.
So far the scrap police haven't shown up at my doorstep.

|Posted: 2/17/2013 9:33:34 AM|I think I am flex. I take pics everyday but I have started printing pics every 2 weeks. I do put pics in order by date but I watched a video yesterday with Melissa Stinson and she placed her pics in random order and stamped the date on one of the journal cards. I like the idea of stamping in one spot for a week, must try this.

I'm just starting out with PL, but I'm doing flex. The more rules I make for myself, the less likely I am to actually DO the project. For now I'm trying to build momentum and get into a routine with it. Maybe I'll add more rules when I get some momentum going.

Try out a few of the techniques mentioned above, and see how they work for you. You can switch at any time!
Mine is weekly - meaning every Sunday night, I print out whatever photos I took that past week. Sometimes it's a simple 2-page spread, sometimes it's 8 pages, depending on what's going on. It's really my catch-all for most of my photos now, I rarely do a full layout anymore (unless they're old photos, or it's a big event, like a birthday).
|Posted: 2/17/2013 3:00:20 PM|I tried to do weekly last year and it was too much for me to keep up with -- plus, I really don't want THAT much of my life documented when I already have something like 40 albums.
So I'm going flex. I put the monthly divider in, use however many pocketed pages I need for that month, and then move on. Meaning, I'm not trying to fit a month into a side by side spread. I'm not giving myself parameters on how many pages a month should be. I'll just fill in my stuff and move on.
Will be posting pics of this at Paperclipping.com soon. Maybe this week if I have time.

I try to do weekly. But, I'm flexible. If a week only needs one page, that's what I do. If I need 4 for a week, that's what I do.
Confession time, I haven't even started my 2013 album. I was sick the entire month of January. I do have some photos, but not many. If all January ends up with is a 2 page spread, I'm fine with it.
Right now, my hang up is needing to get pics printed. I don't print them at home. Plus, the place I used to have them printed was terrible the last few times. Since they were close to home, it was really convenient to have done. Now, the closest place is over half an hour away.
I've never used an on-line printer. But, I'm ready to change that.

I agree it is your album so do what works for you. January was a quiet month and I really didn't take many pictures so I am doing only one layout for the month this month will have more. I am thinking I will probably do one layout for 2 weeks and if there is a week I need more I will add more. I figure this style is pretty forgiving.
I did the picture a day for two years and then took a year off but really wanted to try again so this year it is more free form. I am using scraps and it is a lot of fun. I am doing things on these pages I would never do in my normal scrapbook - more girly and more glitter - adding a bit more bulk since I am not planning on a layout a week, etc. It has been a lot of fun to pull out some really old product and make it work.
