DD and I both started cheering when we saw Darryl's arrow. I'm fuzzy on the end of last week, DH took over the TV and only let me watch once  Since Tyrees and his crew were completely absent this episode, did they actually leave the prison when Rick lost it? |

Poor Axel, he was just getting likable but that is par for the Walking Dead course.
I dunno, he was creeping me out. I had this feeling he was going to do something to Carol. And that he did--he shielded her, too bad for him he was dead and didn't know it. 
I'm guessing this is where Tyrese and his group are going to come in and join Rick's group. They're definitely outnumbered and need a bigger army.
And, how could all those shots be fired, and only 1 of the Governor's group get killed? Heck, the Governor was standing out in the open and nobody could hit him? He's evil.
This Lori side story needs to end. I thought we saw the last of her, but should've known better. |

Axel wouldn't have turned because he was shot in the head.
For a second, I wondered if it was Andrea in the zombie bomb and we just didn't see the part where she caught up with the governor. I just can't see her unleashing them on her friends, so I wonder who it was?
I was wondering when the prison assault was going to come because in the comics, it's huge. That's where Lori and the baby get killed in the story. I think with the small number of people in the prison in the show, they elected to go a bit more subtle.
Yeah, Lori needs to take a permanent powder so Rick can get back to business. If I were that actress, I'd be happy for another appearance as she looked amazing in the dress and makeup! | |

It was Hershel and Merle. Merle was telling Hershel the type of man the Governor is. Said the Governor would go after him (Merle) first, then Michonne and the rest in an order that i don't clearly remember and leave Rick for last so he could watch everyone he cared about die. |

I don't think it was her in the van, she had no idea where the Govenor was when he left Woodbury and his people were definitely covering for him. He just fed her all that crap about needing her to take his place to distract her.

I went to the Walking Dead Live last Thursday in Cleveland. The actors who play Andrea, Maggie and Merle were there as well as EP Greg Nicotero.
Andrea was interesting. You can tell it really bugs her (as an actress) that she has to make some really stupid decisions and people hate her. LOL. She very clearly said "Give Andrea some time. She's going to come through in a big way in the final episodes of this season"
So I'm gonna give her a little more time to get it together. LOL. | |

I agree!!! I was thinking that! I know its a good episode when I am glad I didn't eat spaghetti and sauce for dinner My favorite parts though are the moral dilemnas and Darryl's relationship with Merle is full of those dilemnas!

Happy to read that. I'm not liking the direction her character has gone.
I really hope Michonne comes around, opens up and can stay part of the group. With Darryl back, Michonne, Tyrese and his group, and after someone slaps the sense back into Rick, I'm hoping for a good ole' fashioned war and Rick's group taking over Woodbury. |

I enjoyed the scene between Rick and Imaginary Lori. It broke my heart. She died when they were so estranged. I was glad to see Rick get a psychic make-up session, I hope it will get him back on track. However I was distracted during that scene and couldn't focus on any details, i.e. what they said.

I hated to see them kill off Axel and I don't think he was in prison for being a sex offender (I think y'all were seeing him as being creepy for putting the moves on Beth) I think he was just one of those fleckless people that end up in prison because of their associations with drugs. He was definitely a gentle person if Carol -- whose husband WAS the child molester, wife beater, and all around JackHole-- was willing to treat him with compassion from the very first, remember it is Carol after she survives the Zombies in the tunnel that wants both Oscar and Axel allowed into the group and is very adamant about it.

I also think that Daryl is going to have to kill Merle to keep the secret that they had planned to kill the Atlanta group for their supplies but I think it will involve Merle trying to kill Carl or Judith (I'm thinking Merle would definitely kill a baby after his behavior at the car on the bridge) to destroy Rick who he sees as being weak and get back into the Governor's good graces.

Loved this episode. I hope this show continues to remain so fantastic. I worry about the day when it starts going bad (as many shows do after a few great seasons).
Like most of you, I am tired of the Lori ghost stuff and want Rick to pull it back together again. I am also completely sick of Andrea. I haven't liked her for a long time, but she continutes to irritate the crap out of me. How long is she going to believe the Governor and look past all the giant red flags that this guy is a psycho?? I do feel bad for the actress (after that update from one of the peas here) and am glad to hear she redeems herself at some point. Not sure if I'll be able to ever like her again though, but we'll see.

I agree it looked like a woman AND I agree that they want us to think it's Andrea, but I don't think it is. It's foolish to think that all this time in Woodbury the Governor didn't have some other broad willing to swill his whisky and bed him. Andrea can't be the only one. I'll enjoy her discovering that though (awful I know).

They didn't show them physically leaving the prison, but they did show them saying "okay, we'll leave" when Rick went nuts and was screaming at Lori's ghost. I assumed they left, but I am also hoping (and assuming they'll be back).

I was so fearful that this character was going to go that route, so it's almost a relief to me that he's gone.

Love Actually is one of my favorite movies and I usually watch it every year. I've known since the first season of Walking Dead that Andrew Lincoln was in it and what character he played, but I hadn't watched it the last couple of years, not since WD started. Watched it for the first time in awhile this past Christmas and it's just so funny to see "Rick" play that role. He looks so baby-faced! In Walking Dead, he is much leaner and rugged looking. I much prefer it. I really didn't love his character in Love Actually. | |

I didn't get the feeling that they wanted us to think it was Andrea at all. She spent all that time trying to get out of the nerdy dude where the Governor was, plus the Governor promised her they were going to leave the prison alone. I think if it was a female, it was that woman with the long dark hair they showed near the beginning of the episode.
This was a good episode. The Daryl and Merle stuff was really interesting. Then the end was full of awesomeness, and maybe now Rick is going to pull his head right back out of his butt. |

I didn't get the idea they were trying to say it was Andrea driving the van either. I mean it showed her walking all over town asking "Where is the Governor" and getting bullshit answers from the chick on the wall and Milton. We KNOW it wasn't Andrea.

I thought the plan was just to rob them? I never got the idea that before the apocalypse or directly after it that the Dixons were mass murderers. |

That's Haley you're thinking of... she got shot in the arena the night that Rick and Maggie came back to Woodbury for Darryl. I don't think it's supposed to matter *who* it was driving the zombie clown car, just that it was all part of the Governor's attack.
I thought this episode was really slow but the last 10 minutes made up for that! When Glenn asked, "Who's on guard?" I KNEW they were going to be attacked!
I hope that Rick has got his sense back and will come back to being the leader. Hershel is not suited to lead, and neither is Glenn, he is too angry. Rick is the only one with the experience to lead and think for the group instead of just for himself. And I really hope that we see Tyrese soon, I think he and his sister could fit in well with the prison group and certainly make the Governor think twice about trying to take it over (if that's where his plans are headed).
I'm sorry that Axel is dead, but it's getting a little predictable.. as soon as someone who's been quiet gets some decent dialogue, then he goes and dies. I am glad, though, that he was the only one who died and not one of our favorites.
We watch the Talking Dead after every episode, and the host said that he did a fist pump when the zombie attacking Rick was hit by Darryl's arrow... I laughed because I did the exact same thing! |

I had mixed feelings about Axel. He did seem like he was getting to be more likable but he was still the most expendable. And, I read some of the comics, and while I know the show has veered quite a bit, if I remember Axel's character correctly in the comics, he ended up being even more creepy than any of us imagined. I was so fearful that this character was going to go that route, so it's almost a relief to me that he's gone.

Okay, who was Thomas in the tv show? And who was Axel in the books? I'm getting confused! I didn't remember any names from the books. I just remembered that the prisoner that seemed kind and docile (and Alex seemed to fit the bill) ended up being a whacko murderer. Or do I have that wrong?
I didn't get the idea they were trying to say it was Andrea driving the van either. I mean it showed her walking all over town asking "Where is the Governor" and getting bullshit answers from the chick on the wall and Milton. We KNOW it wasn't Andrea.
I'm rewatching it again tonight with the family (I couldn't wait and watched it by myself first). Maybe I'll feel differently after a rewatch. I thought that when the truck showed up after the attack was already well underway, everyone (both sides) kind of looked at it surprisingly--like it wasn't clear by anyone's expressions who was driving that truck and whose side they were on. I was only fairly certain they were with the Governor when they ran down the gate and then completely certain when they jumped out and unleashed the zombies. The Governor had a sort of smirk on his face and I thought maybe, just maybe, they were trying to get us to believe that someone (could be Andrea because it was definitely female) caught wind of what the Governor was doing and showed up with this crazy plan to really do Rick's group in. Otherwise, why not just have her come zooming in right at the beginning? That would have seemed like the smarter attack plan. The Governor and his toadies could have REALLY took out Rick and his guys if they did it that way. Rick's group would have been busy fighting the zombies for their lives right from the start, rather than shooting at the Governor and his minions. So....since the car came in late, since it was a female, and since we couldn't see who it was, it made sense to me that *maybe* they were trying to lead us to the possibility that Andrea had moved to the dark side with the Governor. But who knows?

Thomas was not in the show. In the comic, he was a nerdy looking guy who claimed to be in prison for tax offenses. He is the one who killed 2 of Hershel's daughters and went after Andrea, cutting her cheek.
Axel is in the books and was similar to the TV version. He was a decent guy and the only one of the prisoners who ended up staying with the group in the prison. He made some suggestive comments to some of the ladies, but was generally liked and trusted. He was killed when the Governor stormed the prison. |

Speaking of the nerdy guy--what's his story? He definitely seemed afraid of the Governor (and I would be also), but I think he's going to cross over to the good side. He didn't seem to like anything the Governor was doing, but he has no choice but to go along.
Milton. I think he's just with the Governor because he probably wouldn't have made it alone and the Gov valued his research and medical skills. I felt so bad for him in this episode, he was all panicky and having anxiety attacks. He was listening to some sort of relaxation tape when the Governor walked in and scared him out of his seat. Then he was so nervous trying to lie to Andrea that he kept checking his pulse, I couldn't help but laugh. Poor guy. I think he'll probably try and do something to redeem himself then end up getting killed. |

I wonder how many real fighters the town has. It seems that the group that attacked the prison only had a few gunmen really, and not much of a chance of taking it down since the prison is so well fortified. The only reason they killed anyone was because the prison group was unprepared and they had the element of surprise.
They left after only losing one man. So I think they are probably not done- they will come back. Is their strategy to slowly wear the group down, as opposed to going all out all at once? |

I'm guessing this is where Tyrese and his group are going to come in and join Rick's group. They're definitely outnumbered and need a bigger army.

I also think that Daryl is going to have to kill Merle to keep the secret that they had planned to kill the Atlanta group for their supplies but I think it will involve Merle trying to kill Carl or Judith
I thought the plan was just to rob them? I never got the idea that before the apocalypse or directly after it that the Dixons were mass murderers.
I don't think Daryl is a mass murderer because of the story he tells Carol about the death of his mother who was "smoking" in bed (easy to hide an abused and beaten dead woman in a whole house fire) and now that we've seen Daryl's back, it is pretty obvious that he wasn't violent like Merle and their father was an abusive SOB which Merle alludes to the fact he would have killed him if he had stayed. But Merle, yeah, he is a psycho killer who will do whatever it takes to survive including cutting off his own hand and no matter who it costs including Daryl.

Does Tyrese have a GF when he first shows up in the books? I'm thinking it will be either her or Milton. I'm betting Milton lets Andrea know what the Governor is up to or somehow helps her and then meets his untimely demise.
How many episodes are left? I'm really hoping we don't lose any of the core group. |
