So tell me the pros and cons of it.

And can I use any Scotch 3M ATG tape that is the same size of the gun? (I am thinking of getting the pink one.)

I'll be following this. I've wondered about getting one too. I thought I read somewhere at one point that people had issues with their LOs falling apart later... Or maybe that was a different product?

I love my ATG. I have the pink one, and it takes the small, 1/4 inch wide tape refills.

I used to have one that was red. Eventually the lid wouldn't stay shut, but I have no complaints about it. It gave me lots and lots of hours of scrapbooking fun.

I buy my refills at scroll down and look at the 1/4 inch 3M acid free gold. I have had great experiences with them. I'm sure you can find many other places that sell the tape too.

ETA: I forgot to tell you the cons... the red was very hard to load correctly. The pink one is much easier. The only true con is that it's big. And in this time of layered pages, it can be hard to use on some small layers.

I like the pink ATG and have no trouble using it...but sometimes loading a new roll frustrates me and sometimes I think it's the roll itself that's at fault ..(it COULDN'T possibly be me!!!)

I have both the red one (old, and very much used and abused) and the pink one. I keep tape in both...and wouldn't use any other tapes again!

It did take a little practice, when I first got the red one, to get tape on smaller pieces...but it didn't take long.

(finally~a~mama, if I recall, the tape with the falling apart layouts might have been the older Duck brand rollers??? I did have issues with some of my early layouts that used those...but later ones using Tombow are still holding strong...and even later ones with the ATG are glued forever...LOL.)

I have the pink ATG, and I love it!

pro AND con: the tape is really sticky! that's a good thing, except for that I sometimes get a corner of the paper stuck down accidentally when I'm trying to decide on final placement, so I have to (very carefully) lift it up and re-position it. (it's do-able, though)

pro: it's so sticky that I don't have to use very much of it at all. Just an inch or two on each corner of a full-size piece of paper, and it's stuck down GOOD.

pro: each roll lasts a long time

small con: if you're spatially challenged, re-loading it can be a bit involved. But, there's youtube videos out there that show how it's done.

I love mine, and will never willingly go back to those tiny tape runners again!

You won't lose it on your table while you are working.
It is not really *that* big. It is very much manageable unless you have five-year-old hands.

Personally, I have none.

It is good to watch a youtube video on how to load it, and how to use it, at least once.

I have the yellow one and use it with an adapter for quarter inch tape. That was a waste since i never use half inch tape. I get refills through one of my friends who does bulk orders.

Tape lasts a long time
I find the tape forgiving enough to make adjustments but has staying power

It's a little bulky
It's a nuisance to replace the tape

You can use any reverse wound ATG tape with a 1" core (the Scotch ATG tapes are reverse wound also, even though it's not labeled as such)
I use the 7502 from thetapedepot.
ETA: Of the appropriate width, of course.

Okay, I fought buying one of these for a LONG time. I finally broke down and wondered why I waited. I LOVE this thing. I have tiny hands so I was worried about the bulk but it's not a problem. And I love that it's large because I can always find it under piles. LOL! I buy my refills from

I love my pink ATG, have nothing negative to say about it except that the tape is super sticky. There is no pulling something up after putting it down. I use the Scotch refills I pick up from Michaels.

I love my red one, my pink one's lid sticks. I held off for years from buying it and when I finally did I loved it immediately. Con: its tough to load, until you've done it a few times. but I love how long it lasts.

When I got back into scrapping about 6 or 7 years ago, I had a long list of new "must-have" things including an ATG. Many of those things have come and gone in my studio, but my ATG is one of the best investments that I've ever made. LOVE it! In fact, I now have 3. One lives in my crop bag so I never forget it. And two live on my desk. One with the acid free tape for scrapbooking and the other with the cheaper regular tape for card making.

There is a bit of a learning curve related to reloading the tape and how to let go of the trigger and pull straight back to avoid glue boogers. But once you do it a few times, it becomes second nature. I'm not sure I could scrap without mine now. I'm a self-professed over-adhesiver (need to go all the way around the edges ) and the ATG makes that more affordable, lol.

Be sure you get the 1/4 inch tape. I know a lot who accidentally bought 1/2 inch tape and HATED it! And it does not fit all of the ATGs, anyway. I have red, so have no idea if larger will fit pink or not.

I LOVE mine! And once you learn how to thread the adhesive, you'll be on FIRE with adhesive for every project. It is just wonderful!!

I know I'm in the minority, but I don't like it

It is bulky and hard for the arthritis in my hands to hold. It also definatly has a learning curve to get the tape out and release, pull so it sticks and not pull up.

The pros are that it lasts forever and sticks anything and everything!!

I can only ditto what has been said above:
- I own a red and a pink (both 1/4" size tape) and keep both filled
- if you drop them, the hinges can at a time...until you are holding it closed with an elastic band...and yet it still works fine (My red one is 4 years old, and don't judge by clumsy me!)
- best adhesive I have ever used!

I held off for a long time. I didn't understand the love, thought maybe it was just one of those trendy "status" things. . Then some of my pages were falling apart, my LSS had a huge sale, decided to try it. I ADORE it! I now have two - one for DD10 who scraps.

I have a pink one and a yellow one. The Pink only holds the 1/4 inch tape while the yellow will hold wider widths. I have either the 1/2 or 3/4 inch tape in my yellow one. The tapes lasts ages and it is easy to use.
The con is it is big if you want to take it to a crop....

I love mine. The tape lasts forever. Holds well. Can be rolled off with finger if you catch the oops. Perfect size for ribbon. Price of tapes far more economical if you purchase by the case than any tape runner.

Only con size - if you travel for crops.

I have a red and a pink. They are exactly the same except for color and take the same tape. And the loading process is the same. My only con is that when you pack it the tape is exposed where it comes off the roll and it can stick to things. I put it in a gallon baggie to transport it.

OK - I have a pink one & 2 red ones (don't ask) & LOVE THEM!
I only use 1/4" tape. Not sure what happened (TX heat, maybe) but some of my rolls have gotten wonky so it doesn't dispense smoothly out of atg so I put the roll in & sort of use the tape w/the door open (if THAT makes any sense) but that's how much I love the tape & gun. I use a lot of it - Ithink just b/c it is so inexpensive. Nothing moves, tho. Get it -you'll be glad

I have the pink and I like it a lot. The size of it doesn't bother me. I love that it lasts a long time although I probably use more adhesive just because I have a lot. I buy the acid free refills with coupons. The only con for me is remembering how to refill it. It always takes me a few minutes to relearn it but as others have said, if I watch a video of it, I can do it very quickly.

Hey Mamaof8, I believe it stands for Adhesive Tape Gun and it's a neat tape roller.

I strongly recommend it. My only con is the size, I've kept trying other smaller dispensers over the years but I keep going back to my ATG over and over because of consistency and the perfect amount of tack. It holds stuff in place for years, but I can usually reposition if I change my mind during a layout.

It is a '>tape gun that is amazing!

I held off a long time before buying mine last year at M's with a coupon. I love mine, but sometimes still use tape runners for smaller pieces.

I have the pink one and love it because when I do actually sit down to scrap, I do a LOT of projects at one time, and I don't have to add refills nearly as often as I used to with the smaller tape runners. I use the tape from the Tape Depot in mine - it works out to about $1.17 per roll if you buy it by the case. Can't get any better than that!

I never watched any of the YouTube videos to learn how to load it. One tip about that, though: the gun comes with a cardboard insert in the actual gun itself. It has a nice diagram that shows how to load the refills. If you can resist the urge to throw it away, it comes in super-handy at crops when you run out of glue in the middle of a hot streak.

Yes to the points above.
Also you can decorate it. I currently have some black polka dot smash tape on it. And there's beautiful pictures of ones that have been painted you can find online.

Yes, I can spell. No, my Kindle can't.

I just ran out of ATG tape and re-filled it no problem, on the first try! (with the help of a youtube video-- lol!) but last time, I couldn't even figure out how to get the new tape roll to stay on the spool... turns out I hadn't taken the old empty roll off the spool!!

The peas FORCED me to buy one around August 2010! I really like it and so does my DH. He uses it to attach his shrunken sheet music to the mini album that I made for him that attaches to his sax music holder.

The first couple of times, changing the tape was a pain. I kept the paper diagram, still have it but don't need it since I'm much better at loading AND it has the diagram embossed on the inside of the gun as a reminder.

I love my ATG. I have had it for a few years and still struggle sometimes to open it. That's the con.

Before I bought it, I didn't think I would like it that much. I was a Tombow girl. Love those handy, little runners. The ATG just seemed HUGE. It is big, but you quickly get used to it.

Everything else about it is a plus. I love how sticky the tape is and how long it lasts.
