Are there any written or video tutorials for using a template in PSE 11?
Thanks, Rhoda |

I'm sure Jessica Sprague will be updating her classes for PSE11, which will contain tips for using templates. But, it's really quite easy to use templates in PSE, so we can probably just walk you through it. Most layered templates contain masks for clipping photos. Look for and click on the layer marked photo, which is most often a gray box or shape. Drag your photo onto the template. Because you had the mask layer highlighted, the photo will land in the layers palette just above the mask layer. Click control g (command g on a Mac) and this will "clip" your photo to the mask.
The other layers are usually editable or can be removed or added to. A template is really just a starting place and you can embellish however you like. Does that help? If not post any specific question you have. |

I'm back, lol! I've been looking at a couple of sites that have template tutorials. I think one of the sites used #10. I follow the tutorial and have the paper in the layer above the template but I just couldn't seem to fill it.
On another note, I also have ACDsee photo editor which I have used for opening psd templates. I haven't used it in a couple of years and I forgot the shortcut that allows you to insert the paper or photo into the template.
Years ago I watched a short video on how to do it and I can't find the video now either. The girls that had the digiscrapinfor.com site for ACEsee took their site down several years ago.
Wish I could remember how I did it in that software too. |

In PSE the way to use the clipping mask is to insert the paper in the layer above the mask layer in the template, and on a PC click control G (on a Mac click command G). I'm not sure how to do any editing in ACDSee, as I only use that program for indexing. |

I signed up for Jessica Sprague's digital project life class this week. I have not had time to watch the videos yet but I did download the written tutorials for the first two lessons.
I hope I can start watching the lessons next week.
I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes.
thanks, Rhoda |
