Wow Patter! The two girls are going together? That is really cool. My son has a place at Georgia Tech so far...agony waiting for the rest of admissions to come. If he goes he would be attending with his brother who is already there. And oddly he doesn't really want to do that. I wish I was a psychologist to figure that one out. |

My dd is a Sophmore in college and will be transfering to a BFA program at another school. She got on the spot acceptance after her auditions to 2 of the 4 schools she applied to. One school she rejected after her audition, she knew she just wouldn't fit at that school. She decided to not audition at the last school since she already got accepted at her top choice school. Being a transfer student it is harder to get accepted into a BFA program and it means having to redo one and probably both years she has already put in. It's not a done deal yet, we are still waiting to hear about both merit and talent scholarships.
She was accepted to Wright State University and Shenandoah Conservatory

DD was accepted at her #1 choice-the art program at VCU. She's super excited and DH and I are, too, since it's in-state tuition for us.

Yes, they are going to room together. But one was just diagnosed with Chiari Malformation so we are not sure what this means for college ahead. Our 3rd daughter will stay with me an extra year. Whew, I can't imagine everyone flying the coop at the same time. I will lose it for sure! |

I'll stretch the definition of senior. My dd is a college senior and just got her first grad school acceptance
to the University of Memphis, her first choice. She is a speech/language pathology major. So very proud of her!

My DD got early acceptance to all the colleges she applied to: University of Michigan, Purdue, and Michigan Tech. She will be attending Michigan Tech in the fall - she knows about one scholorship, but is waiting to hear what other ones she was awarded. We expecting that letter by mid-March!!
Congrats to all the Seniors!!! Class of '13!

And just for fun... I was rejected from my 1st choice school. I was so disappointed. I went to my 2nd choice. It was the best decision ever and I loved going there.

My dd got in early decision to U-M. She also got into Michigan State, but only really ever wanted to go to U-M. Still not one word on even one dollar in aid or scholarships. Her darn plan to major in liberal arts. |

Still waiting on the "big three" (Columbia, NYU and Georgetown) although a very nice scholarship offer came from Catholic. I am so glad it's finally March 15th...they said "mid March" or "after March 15th" and "April 1st". At least the one on April 1st is email notification.

We are still playing the waiting game!
We took DD's portfolio for the review day on February 27th.
Her application status still says "under consideration" on the college site they gave her a student number for. No email notification yet either.
The website just says "later in March" for acceptances coming out.
It's killing me! |

I grew up just north of Michigan Tech. My mom and brother graduated from there. Great engineering school and Winter Carnival is very fun. |

We visited 6 colleges and ODS applied early to two, was accepted to both of them, with academic scholarships to both, and he made his decision to go ALL. THE. WAY. TO. NASHVILLE. Breaking momma's heart.
He is going to Lipscomb University in Nashville and registration opened today for their summer orientation programs. WHERE HAS THIS YEAR GONE??!!
We are thrilled for him and are migrating attention to our JUNIOR son to get him directed and focused early on. We had his Senior academic conference last Friday. I have a feeling he will decide MUCH slower than his older brother!

My kid was talking to a coach at Lipscomb, but he decided on another school before we even visited Lipscomb. It looks like a beautiful campus, and I was kind of bummed that we didn't at least do a visit. The school is generous with merit money, too (minimum of $12,000/year for a 32+ on the ACT and full-tuition scholarships for National Merit Finalists and even Semi-Finalists).
Good luck to your son next year!

Thanks, Kelli. He qualified for $11,000/year for his ACT score and another $5,000/year for being from Texas. We are very thrilled and while Nashville IS far away, we have all fallen in love with Lipscomb and in my heart I know he is going to love it and do well there. A bonus boon for my heart is that he is going to major in English - their writing track. |

DD received acceptances from both of the Cal State schools she applied to. One was by mail and the other by email. I think my DH and I were more excited than she was, she seemed a bit freaked out.

Luvspaper - my brother-in-law is on the administrative staff at UNC School of the Arts in Winston-Salem. What a great school! It's such a neat area too.
Ten years ago DD was facing the whole college choice thing, and she couldn't ever have chosen better than she did. Undergrad was at Ohio Northern University, and then Masters and Doctorate were at Yale. Even though Ohio Northern is a small school, it really opened doors for her that we feel wouldn't have been opened elsewhere.
Congratulations to all the 2013 college-bound Pea kids! |
