I have been scrapping since 1997. I have 3 dd who were in lots of activities and sports, but never anything to do with baseball. I never bought, or even looked at, anything baseball related. Any baseball related thing that came in a pack with something else I gave away, or never used (like with a set of sports themed stamps)
Now dd#2 is dating a college baseball player, more than two years at this point. Lots of pics with her at his games, we've gone to his games with her, and now she/we have gone to some of the pro games in her city. Since I like photography, I have taken quite a few action photos of him to put on layouts. I never thought I'd be looking for baseball related stuff!!
Anything you thought you'd never need to use on a scrapbook page, but do now?
What are you looking at?

I'm the opposite, I used theme stuff quite a bit when I first started scrapping and now I very rarely do. I'm working on a Disney album right now, though, and I've used two Disney stickers so far (halfway through the book).

I haven't bought any new stuff in awhile. As far as the stuff I haven't used before, like Washi tape, I learned long ago to never think I would never use something. I would use Washi if I had it already, but I just can't bring myself to buy it, when I don't "need" it.

I had a ton of stuff that I got a crops in goodie bags. But, then I discovered smash books, and started using a lot of those things as the style was so different. Stickers were the items I least expected to use that I now use in smash books and PL journaling cards.

I never thought alpha stickers would come back in, but they are great for project life. I also never expected sequins to be big in scrapbooking but I'm liking the look even though I haven't used them myself.
