I'm about to turn 56. While I don't have grandchildren, there are a few people I graduated from high school with who are great grandparents! They started young, and obviously their kids did too!

DD is only 25 and not even in the market for a serious boyfriend, much less kids. And considering how little she cares for children, I'll not be surprised if I never have any grandchildren. I don't really care one way or the other.

I was 43 when I became a grandmother. My mother was only 36(!) when my sister made her a grandmother. Same sister was also 37 or so when HER daughter made her a grandmother!

My mom was 37 when I had her first grandchild.

She was 18 when she had me, I was 18 when I had my DD. If it were to follow along those lines then she could have been a great grandma at 54. However my DD passed away so there is no chance of that happening.

My father was 60 and my mom was 55.

I was 29 when I had Rachel, she's 13 now, so I doubt it will be before I'm 55 or so.

We have often asserted and we affirm it yet again that no fact in history is better attested than the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. It must not be denied by any who are willing to pay the slightest respect to the testimony of their fellow men. That Jesus, who died upon the cross, and was buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, did literally rise again from the dead. (excerpted from Dance Your Shoes Off, Second Baptist Church)

I was 43. I am 50 and have 3 grandkids(7,4,2)from one of my sons( I have 4 sons) plus 2 that my boyfriend's daughter has. We have been together 15 yrs so they count as mine now. They are 1 and 2. Dang,I just confused myself with all those numbers.
One of my cousins was a grandma at 35. Her mother --my aunt-- had 4 kids by the time she was 19 and became a grandma at 35 also. She was a great grandma at 53.

42 and no grand-children on the horizon yet - only DS is old enough (21) and he's not dating yet.

My mum was a week shy of 55 when she became a grandma. Her mum was 66 when she became a grandma. Her grandmother was 69 when she became a grandma. So my mum thought she was too young to be a granny.

My MIL was 36 when her first grandchild was born (my Dh was 18m - he's her youngest). My GMIL was 39 when her first grandchild was born. My three SILs were 39, 32 and 39.

My youngest is 6 - when I go to her Kindergarten events, everyone my age is a grandparent not a parent...most of the parents are close in age to my oldest.

My grandma became a gg at about 55, give or take a year. My gg passed away a couple of years ago, but we were very close to having 6 generations alive in my family and had 5 generations about 20 times over, if not more. That side of the family did everything very young, which might be why I'm doing everything later? lol

I was 37 when the first of the grandkids was born. I'm now 57 and have a total of 8. The oldest will be 20, and the youngest is 8 months. There is a 10 year gap between the first grandkid and the second.

I totally love being 'Mema' to them.

I was 45. My DSS is the child who has made us grandparents. He is 3 years younger than my DS who says that he is not going to have kids. Now, if I want to include the grandchild I didn't know about yet because I inherited him when DSS started dating his GF/mother of his youngest, then I was 43. But, he was already 7 when I met him. I was 43. When my grandson was in school his friends (1st grade) would walk past our house. One or two would always ask me "are you Jake's grandma?" When I would say yes, they would answer "I thought grandmas were old and had white hair. Sweet things, I always wanted to give them a treat. micky

I was 40 when our DGD was born. DH was 37. His sister was about 34 when her first DGS was born. I was heartbroken at first but by the second day of knowing, I was thrilled. And when I held that sweet, precious baby girl, my heart was stolen in an instant. My Mom was thrilled to be a great-grandma at 70.

My mom was 34 when my brother married my sil and adopted her daughter. She was 36 when her first biological grandchild was born.

She wasn't thrilled. My brother was very immature. He and his wife have been in and out of the drug scene and my mom has has custody of the kids off and on. So she was pretty much a mom again in her mid 40s.

Wow, I cannot believe how many Peas in their early 40's have become grandmas.

I made my mother a grandmother at 52 (she had me at 24). I am 47 and my DD is 19 with absolutely no plans for children in the near future. Fine with me.

No grandkids for me yet and I should be in my mid-50s before I have any (fingers crossed). I had my kids later in life, so I expect that. OTOH, I really look forward to being a grandparent one day. And I hope I have the energy to keep up with them.

I feel sorry for my inlaws. They had 2 kids by 22, and didn't get their only grandchild until age 59. (My DH was 39 at the time when we had our son.)

My poor MIL is one of 14, and she was the absolute last one to become a grandparent.
