******Announcement******

First of all, I'm sorry for not being around this weekend to start a thread for Sunday. We have been traveling.

Second of all...I've been thinking and that is an all out "UH_OH", according to my family.

I'm not an experienced quilter, but have trudged through creating these threads. The topics seemed to serve our purpose just fine for the past couple of months. But I think it is time to revisit topics and offer up, again, the opportunity for someone to take a day to topic discussion.

I'll start a new thread for that...just want you all to look for it.

Let's talk about the Log Cabin Pattern. It is so different everytime I look at a variation. This is one of my favorites. Please share your log cabins or pins of log cabins.

I love that! Especially the feather FMQ. I have several log cabin pins, here's a link to my board Quilt Board.

One large log cabin

Quilt as you go blocks

Deconstructed log cabin

Modern design

The last time I made a log cabin block was in a craft class in high school. I think we did them as Christmas ornaments. I'm thinking about doing a quilt as you go version soon to use up some of my scraps.

Those are all pretty! I have a Log Cabin on my quilting bucket list. Don't know what pattern/variation I will do though.......

Judy Martin has a book that I want to get that has 4 or 5 different ones that seem to call my name!

The quilt in the OP is amazing. The colors are gorgeous and the quilting is fantastic. I also love the pieced border. I have never seen one like the one that is one big log cabin block! Very cool!

I'm loving the Modern Design Log Cabin. I also just made a piano key border - like in the OP's quilt- for the first time. I didn't have any instructions. I made some mistakes and so it was a learning curve but it came out ok.

This one is unique

I've made two log cabin quilts-a small table topper and a large quilt for one of my nephews and that was enough for me! I love the look and all the design possibilities, I just have no desire to make another one.

I have two log cabin tops pieced and waiting to be quilted.

This one is a kit from Sew Batiks. I love their fabrics!

This one is Irish Star, using Moda Kansas Troubles fabrics.

I have a few more on my to do list. Someday.

Slicksister, you might want to take a look at this. It shows how to piece corner blocks for keyboard borders.
