My favorites are:
Alex drawer units
I also use a lot of Krus jars and Kassett boxes for scrap supplies storage, but I've noticed that those two series have been discontinued. Oh well, let's hope they will release something new and exciting to replace those storage series.
Have fun shopping!

I love Ikea. I just moved and had to redo my scraproom (my old room had all built-ins that went with the house, sigh). I made an large (60x90) center island with a combination of expedit units (2 2x2's and 1 2x4) and vika tabletops (3). I lined up four Alex drawer units along one wall without the wheels and have a fifth one with the casters on that I keep next to my scrap space. Throw in three more expedits of various sizes for storage. I lined up my jetmax cubes along another wall and topped those off with long skinny vika tabletops. Then a final Alex desk drawer unit and tabletop for my computer. Oh, and five ribba shelves for displaying my punch collection -well, part of it anyway. It looks like an Ikea exploded in here, but I love it!!!
It's a good thing Ikea is a few hours away or who knows what else I would cram in here!!!!

|Posted: 2/27/2013 8:56:27 AM|My scrap room is pretty much all IKEA too. My desk/table are 4 Vika pieces that run along 3 walls in the room forming a large "U". I have a drawer unit and what they refer to as the "table leg with storage", although if I were to do it again, I would have gotten two of the drawer units. I also have the smallest Expedit that holds up one of the table tops. The Expedit is slightly higher than base pieces and legs of the other tops, but it actually works for me because of the configuration of the room. I have shelves from Ikea, two magnetic boards (one which I painted with chalkboard paint so I can scribble current ideas, etc. on it), rods that I have mounted to the walls as my "clip-it-ups", various kitchen storage items that I have having above my table which store my Copics, pencils and such. I absolutely IKEA. It's a dangerous place for me to visit - and there are two very close by! If I had more room in my scrap room, I'd have more stuff from IKEA!

Do you have a link for the kitchen island with the 12 drawers? I have been looking at their website online and can't find it.
Has anyone used the Galant Desk system? I like that the height is adjustable. Just not sure of the width of the working space.

I absolutely love my aqua Raskog cart. I also just purchased 5 Alex 9 drawer units and could not be happier. I feel so organized and am amazed at how much these units can hold. I wish I had room for more! My next purchase will be an expedit unit to replace some other shelves. Have fun shopping!
Regarding the Varde 12 drawer kitchen island, I too have tried searching for it and think it may have been discontinued. So sad...Can anybody confirm?

I'm thinking that I could put some baskets on the lower shelves for my most used supplies and cut-offs, one drawer for keeping my printed photos and then I could roll it in and out of whichever rooms I want.

Lairdoglen... I believe that what I use is the GALANT series desk. I've had it for about fifteen years and the bases are different. I have three pieces that wrap the room in an L shape. The long part of the L is narrow, while the corner/short leg is very wide. I have all kinds of stuff (paper sorters/ink/etc) lining the walls on the wide area and then my mat for work space. HOWEVER, that area is almost always covered in piles so I end up working on the narrow part where my cutter is. Walls there are lined with narrow items, mostly mason jars and jars of flowers. But plenty of room to work. I absolutely love this system - Go for it!!

I currently have 4 of the 1x5 cube Expedits on end in a corner of my craft room and a 2x4 cube unit in the closet.
We just ordered the Expedit Entertainment Center, three more 1x5s, a 5x5 and another 2x4 for the other half of the craftroom closet...
I LOVE IKEA. I chose a different cart than the Raskog, not an IKEA brand, but the Raskog popularity wave got me thinking about it. I LOVE having a big stack of drawers, and mine has a tabletop. Plus it's on wheels!

I have the Galant desk and the corner desk unit. Also, I have some matching 2 door rectangular cube units that match called Effektiv. Don't think they even make them anymore. The Galant is so solid and it is a great desk for scrapbooking. I'm trying to make the room pop(same dilemma different day)by finding a way to make the birch Galant fit in w/my white M's cubes and a cherry armoire. 3 different types of wood is hard to coordinate.
I'd like to help you out. Which way did you come in?
|Posted: 2/27/2013 6:44:22 PM|The Bygel rail (it is a towel rack) and it is $2.99. I've got a bunch of them on the wall and use the "S" hooks which are 99 cents.
Of course, aside from these, my Expedit is my favorite thing in my scrapbooking room.

I have the very inexpensive Bygel cart - $30...I have my Cameo on the top shelf, printer on the middle and lots of 12x12 storage on the bottom shelf like paper and books. There is also a small drawer under the top shelf and I have Cameo cords and assessories in that.
On the side of the top shelf it also holds 3 Bygel containers with pens, markers, small tools.
For the price you can't beat it.
And a couple of Expedit 2x4 shelves of course!

I have 5 of the Helmar drawer units that I keep under my table. They are similar to the Alex units but metal instead of laminated wood.
They have several new designs for kitchen wall storage that are perfect for craft supplies. I especially like the Fintorp line..very MS-like. There are some new ceiling lamps that coordinate well with the Fintorp line. They are called FOTO and come in a lot of colors. They remind me of something from the 50s. Very cute and cheap!
If there's something in particular that you want from your store, you can check the inventory before you leave. I'd highly recommend you do that if you want the Raskog carts because they're extremely popular.
Have fun on your trip.

Has anyone used the BESTA series? They are the same depth as the Expedit but look more versitale since you can move the shelves and are not stuck with a set cube width. I used to love the BONDE series just for that reason. It was the same width column as the Expedit, but I could space the shelves whichever way I wanted.
I might use these in my closet and move finished scrapbooks in there. That way, it wouldn't be so hard to get the items out of the left and right side of the closet. Right now I have the wire cubes in there 5 across-4 high, but the outside 2 columns of cubes are very hard to get to.

I bought the Besta bookshelves based on seeing another pea using them for their scraproom. I like that the shelves are adjustable, especially since I have some taller items like Pioneer 3-up albums and I didn't have to shave anything off of my Cropper Hopper paper holders. One thing to note, the shelves aren't quite as deep as the Expedit's shelves...the Besta bookcase has an overall depth of the same size as the Expedit, the Besta shelves are only 14" deep and some albums (WRMK) will hang over the shelf a little bit (WRMK albums fit perfect in the Expedit though).

**Edited to add that I found the post where I first saw the Besta bookcases used by KateBroccoli here! Scroll down in the thread and there's a good pic of the bookcases. More are in page two of the thread.

|Posted: 2/28/2013 12:04:13 PM|The Varde unit like that has been discontinued, I'm almost certain. I got mine almost a decade ago. It also used to have great rolling drawers that you could buy to put underneath it too. I have a photo of one of mine in my gallery
The photo is my room before I had it repainted and reorganized this past January. I have 2 of these units (with the drawers underneath) and placed them back to back.. the kids supplies in one side (for now) and mine in the other. Plus 2 of the Expedit workstations (agree - LOVE those). The new TV unit from that series, and a 3rd 2x8 expedit on the floor for the printer and other stuff to sit on..
I'd buy a large lazy susan too.. they are super inexpensive and I put my toolbag/etc on it.. love it.

I used three of the 29 1/2 x 59 vika amon tabletops and attached them together. By using the 2x4 expedit at one end and two 2x2 expedits at the other end (perpendicular to the 2x4 unit at the other end), I was able to make room for three people to scrap at the island.

My entire scraproom is from Ikea that I bought 12 years ago. It's not currently available but I have a desk where I sit in the corner and it goes to the left and right of me. I also have 4 bookshelves and a round conference table. I wish it was a rectangle shape, but that's okay. I still love it.
My current loves from Ikea are the Alex drawer units. I've been using plastic drawer units under my desk and I would love to replace them with the Alex drawer units.
And for those Peas looking for scrapbook storage-I was at Ikea about a month ago and came across a new Billy bookcase with wider shelves! It's 31 1/2" width x 15 3/8" depth x 79 1/2" height. It's priced at $99.00 and I think it would hold more scrapbook albums than the Expedit with less floor space. I'm not positive about this since I don't have either one, but wanted to let you know.
Lairdoglen-I checked out the Ikea website for you and I think you are looking at the Galant desk that has a curve in it, right? I checked the rectangle version of this desk and it says the depth is 23 5/8". I think that will be close, but since you have the curve it in that will change depending on where you are.

Ikea shipping in general is insanity expensive.. Because I don't think it's regular shipping company's they use.. I believe it's more like a delivery service like the ones they have at other big furniture stores! But I checked and its around $10 for me which isn't bad at all surprising! I may jus order mine from online since the closet store is 1 hr away..it would actually be cheaper! The cost of shipping could be different for you depending on where you live!!!
