Welcome to the Chatty Scrappers Thread...we are so glad you're here! We are a chatty group of ladies who enjoy sharing our projects with the group and encouraging each other by praising each others projects. We will post a few challenges each month and we would love for you to join in and participate on those challenges or to post any of your projects to the thread to share them with the group. Please feel free to jump in and join our wonderful group of ladies!

Color Challenge by Diana
Use this photo as inspiration to create a project using these colors:

Digi Challenge by Debi

March is here....St Paddy's Day, Easter, and hopefully the beginning of flowers popping up. So for the digi challenge this month I want you to include
1. the color green
2. pastel colors
3. circle or oval shape element(s)
and 4. use stacked frames.
For DIGI ONLY DESIGNERS:.add a masked/blended paper .
For PAPER SCRAPPERS, add torn paper

And remember, just because I dabble in digi doesn't mean you have to. Paper, Hybrid or Digital projects are all welcome.

Sketch Challenge by Toni

Technique challenge by Monica

This month's technique challenge is to try the resist technique! There are many different ways to do this. You can stamp an image, emboss it with white or clear embossing powder, then ink or mist over it and wipe away the excess. You can draw with a white crayon and mist or ink over it. Don't forget that there are a bunch of products out there that make this easy - Heidi Swapp makes several items in her "Color Magic" line!

And a new one I tried in my sample - "draw" with Glossy Accents, let it dry, then mist or ink over it. Make sure to use a baby wipe or paper towel to wipe away the excess. I've found these all work best with white cardstock as a background so the resist image shows through.

Here, you can see I drew my own polka dots with Glossy Accents and misted over it with Heidi Swapp color shine:

Example

Bookmarks Challenge by Theresa

The object of this challenge is to use the layouts that you've been adding to your Bookmarks. You know that you liked them, but how often do you remember to use them as inspiration to make your own?

For this month's challenge, go to the 3rd page of your Bookmarks and take the 3rd layout on the first row. Let any part of the layout inspire you, use it as a sketch or just the colors or the theme, let the layout decide! You'll be amazed what it will do on its own.

A very important part of this challenge is that you should send a message to the Pea that inspired you. It will brighten their day! Also, add a link to their LO in the information section or the comment section. Please be very specific about identifying that you lifted that Pea, we don't want to have any hurt feelings by not giving credit where credit is due.

Bookmarks Challenge 3 in 1 - by Debi

PICK 2 pages off your first page of bookmarks to combine ideas from and then add a 3rd idea of your own

Thanks so much for playing along! We gladly welcome new friends, so feel free to join us.

Tina, I LOVE that photo!!!! Hope your charity event went well last night.

Tessa, glad to have you join us. The more the merrier. Introduce yourself and chat away.

I posted this on the Feb page a minute ago but I'll add it here too:

Snowing here but it's the pretty kind that sticks to the grass and not the roads. Have to leave in a bit to drive to Madisonville but wanted to say good morning and wish you all a great day.

Happy 1st day of March!!

I'm Tessa 27 - soon to be 28 in May. I live in Way Upstate, NY. I'm 7 miles from the Canadian border and we travel there quite often. I've been with my dh for 10.5 years married 3 and we have our first dd Allie Grace who will be 17 months on the 10th. I'm born and raised here and I love it. I work in the school that I graduated from as the Superintendent's Secretary, I'm the treasurer for the local library and recently a Stampin' Up demonstrator. I'm very busy but I try to spend as much of my down time scrapping away. I have only created 3 scrapbooks. I started scrapbooking 4 years ago when I created my first nephew's album because a friend told me about it then I took a break because I felt I had nothing to scrapbook as I didn't have a child at that point but now I realized you can scrap anything

Some of my other hobbies are snowmobiling, card making, hiking, traveling and reading. Tomorrow I'm headed to the mountains with my dh to probably get in my last snowmobile ride of the season. Have a wonderful weekend! [error_in_color:green]

Good morning, Thank you Tina beautiful almost spring thread.
Great challenges.

Tina..I know how spiritual enriching these missions are, I don't know if I would let Monica go, but I know if she really wanted to go, I would put her in Gods hands and let her go. Malory is a very mature young lady and I think she would be fine.

Debi and Nylene...How are you guys feeling?

Welcome Tessa.

Got to go shower and get ready for work.

Tonight we are going to a Wild West no-profit event to benefit Horse's for Disable children event, Stan's company is the main sponsor, I need to read up on this I think I want to become a volunteer will let y'all know.

Have a wonderful day.

Good Morning Ladies!!

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind! Hoping to get into more of a routine with all of the things going on. I started doing the bookkeeping for Rick's business, because the woman his partner hired wasn't keeping up on them, and when she did work on them, nothing was done right! So, Rick and I are going back and correcting everything from the beginning. Hopefully a few more weeks and then it won't take up all of my free time.

The boys start baseball games next week, so we will be living at the various ballparks! I am looking forward to it.

Tina, thanks for posting the March thread!! Hoping to get to work on a challenge or two tonight.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend!!

Sherri

Hi Chatty Friends!!!

Happy Friday! I am sooo looking forward to having a couple of days of down time. Ron and I went to the Pacers fundraiser last night, it was fun. Some of the kids that have been adopted through our agency got to sit on the Pacers bench during warm ups and give the players high fives on their way onto the court. We were also on the jumbotron thing during half time (which I could have done without myself), but it was a lot of fun.

Thank you all for the advice on the Mallory issue. We are going to go to an informational meeting about the Nicaragua trip. She is nervous about it a bit, but she really wants to go, so we will probably let her. The people leading the group have been there many times and will take care of her for me...I just have to get over my own anxiety about it. I guess I'll have several months to get used to it since it's not until this summer. Our church helps to subsidize the cost of it for the kids that go, so I don't think it will be too expensive thankfully.

Theresa - Diana picked the very pretty photo out...but I loved it too, it's so nice and spring-like.

Tessa - Welcome to the group!!! We are so glad to have you join us.
I'm Tina, I'm 45 and have been married to my dh, Ron, for 20 years. We have three kids, Olivia - who is 19, Mallory is 14 and Griffin who is 9. I work at a large child welfare agency in Indianapolis and volunteer with the teens are our church and for the choir program at my kids' school, so I am using chasing my tail in circles. I've been scrapping for about 9 years and have been a member of this group for several of those years.

Diana - I hope you have a great time at the fundraiser! That sounds like a great nonprofit to sponsor, I've had several autistic and mentally ill kids who have participated in those types of programs and it was very powerful for them, it's very cool to watch them.

Well, I'm at work, so I guess I should deal with my very piled up desk. Have a great day all!

Hellow EVERYONE!

Thanks TINA for posting the thread and NYLENE for setting up the posting links. Great Challenges everyone.

I didn't think I'd need to open a 2nd window but enough people already commented that I couldn't keep track...not as good at that as I used to be...Hmmmm.

Welcome TESSA. Of course you can join in. It's an open party. We love new faces and new projects. Jump in any time.

I'm (well older than you) and I have twin teenage boys (14 year olds). I'm a single mom, currently looking for work and I also have chronic rheumatoid arthritis. I am the resident "digi scrapper" which I've been doing for a few years now and love it, as it's portable, cheaper, and mess-free. I scrap mostly my kids and family stuff but occassionally I throw something else in for variation. Scrapping to me is therapy; helps me to stay focused on the 'good things " in life. And I'm quite chatty, at least on the threads, not so much IRL.

THERESA I am so happy we are basically pass snow here. Although we occassionally get a surprise dusting in May and even June. NOt expecting it this year.

TESSA it must be nice to be so close to the border.

As for completed scrapbooks, I have NONE. I have lots of layouts though-over 1200 posted here at 2peas. I stay busy.

DIANA thanks for asking. I'm feeling a bit frustrated that I'm not responding as well to the meds as I had hoped I would by now. Still dealing with fatigue (guess I need to follow up on that B12 prescription) and the arthritis is still being very present. Better but not great. Oh well trying to find things to distract me so I don't have to focus on how I'm feeling...today I'm tackling the last 20% paperwork on my dining room table, and the hopefully the last of the Christmas residual in my living room. Somehow having more than 20 boxes of Christmas decor might be a bit excessive, if you KWIM? LOL

The Wild West fundraiser sounds intriguing and maybe a good photo op for upcoming LOs...

hey JODI nice to see you drop in with your flashing Signature. Have fun scrapping this weekend ...hope to see some pages come Monday.

SHERRI you have sounded very busy latey. As for bookkeeping, that's what I did for years, go into companies and clean up their books from hiring bookkeepers who had no clue...LOL tedious but necessary sometimes. At least you're only 2 months into the year. I've had to go back nearly a year sometimes to recreate accurate records.
I miss going to baseball games...my ex wouldn't allow our son to continue playing as he didn't want to be bothered with having to go to games...oy! We do have ultimate frisbee starting next week, and I have the boys do it, even without ex's cooperation. They've got to have some outside activity to stay healthy IMO and they need the hours for their PE waiver required by the school since they don't take PE, instead having Japanese and Band. I'm hoping we're not heading for a rainy spell just as outside sports are about to restart, but it wouldn't be an unusual state of weather for us. LOL

TINA what is a JUMBOTRON? I have a feeling we're all going to waving good-bye to Mallory going to Nicaragua. How exciting.
Nice the church can help with costs too.

Here's the LO I tried to post last night but 2peas wouldn't let me.
It nicely qualifies for March's color challenge too... so 1 down!

Friends brighten up your life

Oh my was I busy today! We didn't get out of there til almost 1:30! So much for getting off at noon. Stopped by the mall to look for a Sherlock Holmes style hat for my favorite soon to be 13th year old nephew's birthday. Got Jackson something else, no hat to be found. (For the newbies, I have numerous nephews and nieces and I always call them my favorite whatever year old they are so they are really all my favorites!) Jackson will be the favorite on Randy's side of the family though, no offense to the others but he'll always hold my heart.

To give a little on me, I'm a RN that works for a busy orthopaedic office. I'm normally working every day in Owensboro, an hour away from me but every other Friday I travel to Madisonville, half hour away, for an outlying clinic we've set up. I have one favorite physician that I call Doc (reason I go to Madisonille) and then there is another one that I call BD that's not my favorite but we get along fine. He's just been practicing for 2 years so he's the baby doc--BD. My job has been giving me fits lately so part of me wants me to leave but I do so love Doc! I've been married to Randy for 32 years (yes as a matter of fact I did get married when I was a baby, LOL) and have an adult son that is a pharmacist in Lexington. He's married and we have two Granddogs but no Grandbabies yet. My DH is also a Pea and he lurks here. He is MrNiceGuy on the boards, used to do the Caturday thread and some TV show threads. His sister Trish (Jackson's Mom) posts the Caturday thread now. He's a manager of the local McDonalds. I do digi and traditional scrapping but lately not a lot of either.

Have to get off here, hosting my monthly crop at the church tonight and I don't have a thing packed. Plan on taking stuff to make cards. It's snowing again (not sticking) and I don't want to haul too much out in the nasty wet snow. Did have a request to bring the Cricut and ALL my cartridges, glad I have them in those plastic containers but other than that, just taking some cardstock, stamps and markers.

Have a great night all.

I always say what I mean, I just may not mean to say it out loud!

Hello girls -

Tina - wonderfully done for the month of March! I hope I can get motivated more this month. And, yes, that picture for the color challenge is gorgeous!

Diana - Love that picture for the color challenge; it just sings Spring!

Theresa - are you putting up a bookmarks challege this month? Unless I missed it. Have fun at the crop tonight.

Tessa - welcome, girl! Just jump in, and don't be intimidated by all the chatter. It used to be way worse than this, too.

Tina - Glad you had a lovely evening with your DH. Sounds like a fun time. And I bet the fun the kids experienced was enough.

One of the girls from J's called yesterday and asked me if I would work her shift tomorrow so I said yes being the gullible soul that I am...but that's ok. It's only five hours and will get me out of the house otherwise I'll just stay in and read, scrap, play phone games, clean and watch the idiot box, LOL. so, who wouldn't give that up, right? LOL. Oh, well.

School has been really, really stressful lately...I don't know whether I'm coming or going most of the time with this new boss that I have. She's really, really trying, but she's kind of scatterbrained and doesn't remember who she tells what, so we're all kind of shrugging and looking puzzled at each other - she also doesn't really answer a question...ugh. Also with these two brand new (very young) teachers I am working with this year, who have no control over their classes, is almost unbearable (and they wonder why their scores are not good on the testing they're doing). It's exhausting...

Anyway, again, I vent...thank you for letting me do that
If you don't want to read it, that's fine, too. I just need to put down the words.

well, it's time for me to go play some games on the phone and read. I also brought home some work from school...I need to modify a test and rather than worry about doing it Monday during school, I would rather do it now.

have a super-de-duper evening.

Hi all its me again, yes I know twice in one day. I wanted to say more earlier but was at work and had to cut it off real quick before I got in trouble for not paying attention I am so scrapping this weekend, I have a plan to use my usual morning homework time to do a page or two gonna print the pictures out before I go to bed. I have been looking at the scrapbook kit that I use to get before Joelle was born, I so want to get it but not sure if DH will agree to it or not I miss getting that box in the mail every month.

Toni- sorry that you are dealing with all that at school, it has got to be hard to function with a chaotic classroom. I like all your other options instead of working but at least it isn't to long and hopefully when you need a favor she will return it.

Theresa- I really liked what you did with your living room, hopefully someday I will have one that I can do what I want too. We don't want to do a lot here because we want to sell in a few years and don't want to have to do the work more than once. I hope that things are getting a little better at work.

Tina- the thread looks great.

Okay I know that there was more but I really want to get my pictures picked out so I can go to sleep and scrap in the morning.

Don't faint, but here's a couple of layouts.
Happy Day

from my camera
this is for Monica's resist challenge, I took the easy way and used the color magic notes from Heidi Swapp. total impulse buy at Michael's this week. It was fun though.

Today was a long day, Charley had a runny nose and wanted to be held a lot. Of course I had 99 things to do, but not all got done. I'm afraid I'm coming down with something too.

Tessa- welcome!
I'm Tammy, I have 4 kids- 21, 16, 9 and my baby turned 7 this week. I am a SAHM, but watch a little girl, Charley, a few days a week. We live in the suburbs of Seattle. DH is unemployed but hopefully something will happen soon! I've been scrapping for 15 years as my hobby.Last year was not very productive, so hoping to turn that around this year.

Theresa- have fun at the crop!

Toni- hope things get better at work. It is soo frustrating to deal with someone like that.

Well, I better get to the 84 things left on my list to do today.

LOL Ellen, no worries, there is no scrapping police. Take your time and post anytime. We don't care if they are from current challenges, old challenges or no challenges at all.

THERESA how did your crop go? Did you take the Cricut? Did anyone show up. I'm not sure I'd venture out if it was snowing. I hate to drive in the snow.

TONI so have you been back since the confrontation with the managers at J's? Is subbing for your co-worker your first day back or a brief break? Or have you've been working already? Hope they treat you better now that you've expressed your concerns.

You do so much for the school. I hope those new teachers realize how much they need you.

Well TAMMY from my quick calculations you got at least 15 things done today...in my book, that's awesome!

I finished getting all the Christmas decor put away today (well except somehow I overlooked the manger scene by the front entrance--there's always tomorrow). I ended up after sorting out and boxing up 2 boxes worth of items to donate and a garbage can of broken, not worth fixing items, wit 16 boxes of decor and 2 trees. Still a lot huh? BUt I do use it all. The boys helped me get it down into the basement.

Wondering if I want to decorate for easter or not this year. LOL--I only have 3 boxes of stuff for that...a easter village, a bunny collection and a few other things.

I am tired though. SO now I'm resting and surfing the web since I no longer have a tv to watch. I could watch a movie online but I'm not sure I'd stay awake for the ending.

Have a great week-end.

Home, we had a good time at the crop and we had a few regulars that didn't venture out but still a good turnout. Yes, Debi, the Cricut was well used tonight. One of the gals is using vinyl and monogramming cake carriers and one of the other gals is just learning how to scrap so she was tickled to get to use it. I made two cards and stamped out several other images for other cards (need to rebuild my stash). I started coloring some of them with the Copics but, as usual, ended up spending more time helping other people with their projects or snacking on the treats while I was chatting than anything else.

Toni, I forgot about the Bookmarks challenge and my brain is too fried to come up with one tonight, I'll send one to Tina Saturday. Nylene will get me if I don't post one, LOL.

Headed to bed.

morning girls -

see, I told you, with being around more, you'll be tired of me, LOL.

Here is a page I did for the MS&M Sketchathon; the first sketch:
The taste of Summer

Theresa - thanks; you know I look forward to the bookmarks challenge too, otherwise it's a little overwhelming when I look in my 112 pages of booksmarks, LOL. Glad you had a good time last night, but I understand how YOU would be helping people more, and chatting, than getting anything done

Tina - I'm glad to hear you're going to a meeting on the trip. That should be helpful, and I'm sure Mallory will be just fine, but I sure do understand your anxiety. Years ago Kevin was asked to go to Ireland, and I sure wish we had had the money to send him, but it was $3500. It would have been a great opportunity for him though.

Debi - Yes, this will be my first day back since last Saturday at J's. So can't say I've missed it either, except my snacking more at home What is surprising though is that she even called me because as far as anyone knows, I'm supposed to be gone! So I'm thinking the store manager or the other manager suggested she call me. I told her to make sure they knew I was covering for her. Of course with the lack of communication the managers have, someone probably forgot to tell the other managers...there is five of them.

Jodi - two times in one day????? Yeah for us

Also, if anyone needs to know this, or not. The new BG at J's is on sale for 50% off this week. It's got three different paper pads and embellishments to go with it. It will probably be gone at our store because one lady came in before it was even on sale and bought most of it, and I don't know whether more came in or not

Anyway, I've got to get running. I hope to scrap a little when I get home tonight again.

See ya later.

Good afternoon, everyone!

Tessa - welcome! Just jump right in, you'll get to know us pretty quickly. I'm the 'international' one on here (no, Canada doesn't count, lol) as I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I'm 38, have 3 boys (10,8 and 4) and have been married to Heinrich for 15 yrs this coming July. I'm a pharmacist. I scrap when I can but it never feels often enough. I also read a lot.

Ellen - good to see you. I'm also trying to finish pages for last month's challenges. Time just disappears at the moment. Not to worry, I often post the previous challenge in the following month, so do't feel you 'can't' share it after the fact.

Sherri - you seem to live your life next to sports fields, lol. I'm thnkful my oldest two aren't that into sports, but Kyle looks as if he is going to be the sporty one. He already takes his toy golf set to school when waiting for the other 2... And good luck with the bookkeeping. I'm busy with my financial year-end, so comiserate.

Tina - I'm sure Mallory will be fine on the trip. They won't take kids into an area they aren't 100% sure is safe. And what an awesome oppertunity. seeing how other people live, especially with much less than we take for granted, is such an important lesson. I vote to let her go if you can.

Jodi - Had to laugh about ducking off here when at work. I sometimes sneak in a read when it's very quiet but turn the screen so a patient can't see I'm on the internet if one does walk in. Seems we are all addicted

Theresa - I was wondering where the bookmark challenge got to! I love it too. It has been raining here on and off for the last few days, so it seems our (very hot) summer is almost over and things are cooling down just as they start warming up there. We have just started giving our flu vaccinations for this year and so many people are commenting that they don't want the "American" flu that went around there. Almost like the swine-flu scare a few years back.

Toni - it is great seeing you around more often. Just wish the work situation would settle. I can only imagine how difficult it is working with inexperienced teachers regarding special needs kids. I know I love it when Sean has a teacher with experience. Thankfully the school also makes a point of not putting him in a class with a brand new teacher. (Tessa, Sean, my eldest, has dyspraxia and ADD)The new teachers should realise how lucky they are to have someone as experienced as you to teach thenm the ropes. By the way, which age group kids do you work with?

Debi - 3 boxes of EASTER decorations? Do you decorate for every season/ holiday? I only have one big crate of Christmas stuff and a big tree. That's it. No outside lights, nada. Nevermind decorating for anything else. And it took us till Valentine's day to get the tree taken down Okay, it was very late this year.

Good for you on doing all the tiding and paperwork. I filed most of mine yesterday morning and I can actually see the surface of my desk again. Doesn't feel quite as overwhelming now. Just need to get it all processed now...

I'm sorry you still aren't feeling great, though it has been months you were really bad, it will take a while for everything to settle again. Hang in there!

Tammy - Yay for scrapping again! Does that mean your wrist is usable again? How are the exercises going?

Waving hi to everyone else. I need to go finish praising last month's pages. You girls were BUSY!

Happy Saturday!

Good Morning my Chatty Scrappers! How is the weekend going so far? Any great plans to share that I can enjoy vicariously?

THERESA sounds like you had fun at the crop even if you didn't get too much done on your own projects. Seems you enjoy socializing and helping others--not a bad way to be. Glad it went ok. I'd probably love having the opportunity to try out a cricut--never tried any of the cutting machines. Sounds cool to me.

TONI you silly girl, we will NEVER grow tired of you. I'm glad you are able to participate more right now. And you are getting LOs done too. How did J's go?

You got me beat on the bookmarked pages...I only have 73 pages. LOL I'm slowly sorting them by number of photos they used to make it easier to search however I still have 51 pages to organize (LOL).

MICHELLE good luck with year end financials...always a bit daunting. I need to do my taxes still. As for the flu vaccine, I didn't get it this year. Not sure if it's too late to; we might be on the downswing now. And there was some research saying the vaccine was less effective for those over 65 and slightly more effective with those over 50...wonder why age is a factor?

My boys are goofing on in the other room. It's funny to listen to their conversation.

Well I need to find hot water in the form of a shower and a cup of tea.
Hope you get some scrapping done today.

Debi

Phew! Praisemark!

Note to self: Don't ever get that far behind praising again!

Debi - not sure why age would affect the efficacy. Maybe because over 65 your immunity is weaker anyway, so you would be prone to getting ill in any case? Don't think it would be worth your while now. It takes about 2 weeks to be effective and then lasts for 4 months, so you will be well into warmer weather by then.

Hi Everyone!

Welcome Tessa! I'm Cathy, 55 years old and live in CT. I've been with my dh Mark for 27 years but only married for 3. I love being married! We have no kids, just lots of pets. I'm a Happy Homemaker and a part-time Professional Organizer. The Chatty Ladies have asked me for some organizing tips, so I post one or two when I think of them. I'm fairly new to this group but I already love it so I'm sure you'll have fun here!

We actually had some SUN yesterday, at least for a little while. It's cloudy again today but not raining. It was fairly warm yesterday, maybe Spring is actually coming!

I've been working quite a lot on my pet scrapbook, getting many stories done and picking out the photos I want to use. I have a deadline - I want to get all this prep work done by Mar. 21 so I can go the weekend crop and just scrap, scrap, scrap! It should be really fun.

Debi, I'm sorry you aren't feeling as well as you hoped you would. I'm very impressed that you have been getting so much done - paperwork and Christmas and all! Good for you!

Every year when Mark and I are putting away the Christmas decorations, we walk through the house to make SURE nothing is left behind. I don't know why we bother because, no matter what, we ALWAYS leave something out! We have our decorations in 7 big plastic bins that live in the attic, so no way are we going back up there to put away ONE item. This year we left out something hanging on a door, right in plain sight. We both walked right past it, several times, and didn't notice it until AFTER the bins were in the attic! At least I do have a place to put it - I have a dedicated Christmas cabinet, where I put all the gifts I buy during the year, so I just stuffed it in there. I'll tell you, it really makes me question my ... brain ... when I do stuff like that!

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I'll be posting an organizing tip next....

CATHY had to laugh, as we walk by the manger scene everyday...it sits covering a whole end table right by the front door, but we've gotten so used to it being there that not only did I miss it but so did the boys when I asked them to walk through the house to make sure I had all the docorations. Oh well I'll just put it in a new bin and add it to the stack in the basement. No harm, no foul.

I did a LO this morning combining all CS challenges except the bookmarks which hasn't shown up yet. I did the best I could digitally interpretting Monica's challenge.w ith the arrows on my page.

at tutoring and surfing on their computer. caught up on praise

Gary is with Josh and Joey at ComiCon. In their geek-heaven. Bobby was too cool to go. Rebecca and I worked at the basketball tournament ticket booth early this morning (really, people, you want to pay for your $5 ticket with a hundred dollar bill?? two people did that!). Then we were on the hunt for a leotard. She wants to sign up for gymnastics (once Gary gets work)and wants to us her bday money to buy a leotard. Of course, Ms. Picky can't find one she loves, so the hunt goes on.

Debi- that's funny the nativity got missed.

Toni- so do all the workers know that you're back now?

Theresa- good for you for playing nicely with others at the crop.

Well since we couldn't get tickets to The Big Bang Theory we've decided to save some cash and not fly to California. Instead we're driving to Gulf Shores, Alabama. Booked the room tonight, hotel right on Perdido Beach. Have never been there although friends of ours go every year and just rave about it so I'm excited. All the cheap hotels were already booked (Spring Break week) so we ended up having to stay at a higher end one but it's still cheaper than flying. They have a dolphin dinner cruise and I may even be able to swim with them! Tons of great golf courses so we're taking our clubs and Randy will get to play at a couple of those so he's excited too.

I posted a note on the first when I put up the checkbox and said I'd be back when I felt better. Well, I must have been sick because apparently I didn't hit submit....because it's not here!

I have really been under the weather. I guess I waited too long to see the Dr. and it's taking a while to get over this. I have a recheck appt. on Monday, but I'd better be feeling a lot better by then. The pneumonia is actually feeling better, but I've been tempted to ask Dh to just cut my head off with his skill saw and I'd feel a lot better. I am so tired of such a headache and feeling like my teeth are all falling out. OK, enough whining!

WElcome Tessa. It's always nice to see a new face.

Thanks all of you for the new thread and new challenges. I hope to do some this month. I didn't get praised to the end of the month, but hope to go back and catch up. My head just feels better lying down than sitting up at a computer.

Just a run-by to tell you all hello and I will be back. Hugs to all!

Nylene, hope you feel better soon.

Just got a phone call from the hotel in Gulf Shores that we made reservations with. They noticed we didn't get the best rate available so they called to ask if it would be okay if they changed our price!!! Saved me over $250. Couldn't believe it! So impressed. She said that they'd have a lot of info for me when I got there because if I'd never been to the area before there was a lot I'd want to see. She said she'd make sure we'd be back over and over again. Can not believe it!

hello girls -

fell asleep on the couch at like 9:00 so here I am now...awake!

Theresa - wow, how exciting! Sounds like a lovely place to go to. When are you going? Spring break at the same time? Ugh. I've seen enough spring breakers in Florida to last me a life time.

Nylene - I am sooo sorry you're under the weather. Feel better soon.

Tammy - A couple of people commented like "I knew you'd be back" type of thing. Some seemed surprised, most seemed like they already knew. One of our managers is leaving now too. Glad you and Becca got to have some girl time though.

Michelle - Unfortunately we had sooooo many new teachers this year that there was no choice, and we have a lot, and I mean a lot of 6th graders, which is the class I work in this year. There is 26 6th grade sp.ed. and at least 10 of them can barely read and write. It's really sad. In the 6th grade alone, we have 10 teachers and 4 of them are new, and a couple of them have only been there a couple of years. Pretty much the sp.ed. is split down the middle and half goes on one team, and the other half is on the other team. I help the one team in math, reading and science. I have math a couple of times a day. My first class is a CDC class though, and I work specifically with a Downs boy. Our CDC is only a couple of years old. There was a CDC class at one of the other middle schools, but there became so many children that they had to put one at our school, too. We also have a behavior class, and most of those kids travel to classes with parapros. We have 11 parapros. Six of us are full time, the others are part time. Probably TMI, but this is why I don't think they can do away with us, although it's still being discussed. So, we'll see.

Anyway, guess I'll try to go back to sleep.

Good afternoon!

Toni - I can't imagine that they could do away with so many of you either. The teachers would just be swamped and the poor kids would suffer. I didn't realise the sp.ed. program is so well developed there. Here there are a few special schools but nothing like that in the main-stream schools.

Theresa - WOW! That hotel sounds amazing. I'm amazed at the effort they are going to. Personal service indeed. I'm sure it will live up to expectations too.

Tammy - Girls can be that way, you know We know what we like and want and that's the end of the discussion. But we reserve the right to change our minds without any warning or reason, too. good luck with the leotard hunt. ComiCon always looks like such fun - well, what I've seen of it on YouTube. Maybe I'm a geek too?...

Cathy - I'm dying to see what you get up to with all those kitty embellies you've been buying. Get scrapping, please?

Debi - It is amazing the things one cn overlook once you are used to it being in a certain place. My lounge felt quite empty when we took down the Christmas tree in Feb. It had become part of the 'furniture'. The same goes for papers, boxes, etc. If it stands still for long enough, it can be overlooked quite easily.

Hope everyne is having a scrappy Sunday. I've spent a few hours working on financials but am going to take a break with a book now. And maybe a Sunday nap...

Totally understand the "leave it there long enough and you won't see it" mentality. That's why my house is such a disaster, LOL.

Didn't get much sleep last night and when the alarm went off this morning I turned it off. Thought since Randy was awake he'd holler at me when I didn't get up in a few minutes so I just laid there. He didn't so we missed church because I went back to sleep. He has a cold, coughing, sinus drainage, that type stuff. He's not been a whine bag like he usually is but he coughed all night and kept me awake. When he wasn't coughing he was snoring. Not a fun night. Didn't sleep until he finally got up and came into he living room. Today is Jackson's 13th birthday. Need to take him his present and run some vitamins over to Joyce's some time today but other than that, think it's going to be a low key do nothing kind of day.

Toni, glad you had a good day back at work.

Good morning. Joey is getting his boy scout religious award this am, so we need to get moving for church. I feel horrible though, think I caught Charley's cold, which stinks because we've been a healthy bunch all winter. will sit with my kleenex in the back row.

Spent some time uploading photos to print- need to finish that today and my goal is to finish 3rd grade photos for the yearbook and print out the teacher proof sheets.

Theresa- wow, that is service!! I've never been to the gulf shores... one day....

Good afternoon, happy Sunday,

Been busy this weekend, had the event on Friday and I became a volunteer for Equine Therapy. I love riding myself I have to do a little training and then I can be a counselor I doing this, don't know in what time but I'll find it, plus is in Davie about 45 minutes from my home, will keep you all posted. Then yesterday the non-profit that Stan is the Director had a luncheon to for the woman to get to know each other, it was very nice and I took Monica with me both times. We made baskets to give to woman with cancer for Mother's day.

Today I cleaned downstairs, but I think my room and bathroom is staying messing, I resting for the rest of the day. It's 59 here today going for a long walk later.

Tammy...Hope you feel better soon, Natalie's been sick with a cold for almost a month now it just does not go away. Congrats to Bobbie that is so exiting.

Theresa.. You obviously need more sleep, and after the night you, your body just needed it. Hope Randy is feeling better soon. Times like this I wish I had Daniel's room picked up so that I could sleep there.
Hope you rest. Your new plans sound fantastic. I've also heard it's a very nice place.

Nylene...I sure hope you are feeling better.

Michelle, Sherri and Jodi ...So good to see you.

I have a few to share with you, these are some from last week.

Daniel is in spring break but started his new job so he can't come down. He is very exited I asked him if he wanted to come just for the weekend but he said he was ok and is good that the apartment is empty to get all the work that's behind done. He get's free rent and 12.50 an hour not too bad. He does have to work 13 hours a week for the rent. He is working 20 to 25 and on finals 15. Now he can save all his scholarship money and financial aid money for the future. I can't tell you how proud I am of him.

Need to get off this computer Monica needs to do homework, and I think I'm going to play with paper;.

THERESA now that is a way to run a successful business and guarantee repeat customers and word of mouth advertising. How awesome is that!

TONI I don't see how they can reduce parapros either given we have the requirement of no child left behind. Sounds difficult though. You are a special woman for being so dedicated. I'm sure the families of the kids appreciate you even if the "new" teachers are too short sighted to see your value yet.

MICHELLE I agree if things are left too long in a place, they become part of the place whether they belong there or not. And I'm quite adept at ignoring stuff as though I don't see it because basically I don't see it. LOL I've lived so long in clutter that sometimes I have a hard time defining it as such, but I'm slowing (and I emphasize "slowly" am determine to declutter.

TAMMY sorry you've caught a cold. Both my boys have had a doozy but so far I've avoided it. Hope I'm able to hold out because colds are so hard for me to get over. There is an advantage to me hiding in my room and the boys in theirs...LOL

DIANA it was in the upper 50's here today too with the sun shining. Even the boys went to the park to throw around the frisbee with their friend for an hour. Nice to see them out of their room.

Look at you, not only are you doing photos from 2000 but you're doing photos from this weekend...way to stay on top of things.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLEN

morning girls -

Happy Birthday, Ellen! Hope it is a good one!

Debi - Don't get me wrong, the new teachers love me...one has even said if I go, he goes...LOL...I doubt it though, but the thought was nice. They're just young and inexperienced. We've taught each other a lot. My concern is letting the kids who are done with their work first talk...others have a hard time concentrating when there is so much "noise" around them. Heck, I even have a hard time. Our kids are sooooo easily distracted. But anyway, today is a new day. I'll have to see what battles I'll have to fight today, LOL.

Theresa - I know that Tina is probably super busy. Can you just mention to us (by p-mail if you want) what the bookmarks challenge is.

I've got to go.
Sending you all some super Monday wishes.

Happy Birthday, Ellen!

Diana - wow, you have been busy! The equine therapy sounds amazing. I've heard it makes such a difference to children. We have a centre close by and the stories I've heard are all so positive. I'm sure you will mean a lot to others and will gain from it as well. As for the time? Well, I'm still looking into ways of purchasing/ borrowing extra hours in the day - will keep you posted!

Tammy - Congrats to Joey. Hope the cold disappears quickly.

Nylene - hope the pneumonia is getting better quickly. It can take ages to heal better totally, so look after yourself.

Theresa - You certainly needed the sleep. Sometimes we need a slow day to just catch our breath. I'm with you on DH keeping you up. Heinrich was also snoring last night and it was so hot (100+F today), once I was awake, I was wondering all over the house looking for a cool place to sleep. Ended up on the couch in the lounge. Just sitting here in front of the fan today too. No energy for anything more. Autumn is welcome to arrive now.

Toni - That is a good way of looking at things - 'Today is another day' and a fresh start.

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes!

Board is moving too fast for me to keep up with everything, but I hope those of you who were sick are feeling better.

Theresa, what is the Big Bang Theory? I guess I can't get tickets to it either, but I am in California and had not heard of this.

Thanks also for the encouragement about posting even though it was for a late challenge. I was lifting the same layout in my Bookmarks I had lifted for another photo of James earlier in February. This one, as it turns out, meets three of the four parts of the digital challenge as well. You can barely see the torn paper. It's on the edge of the vellum duck, which was from a printed sheet of vellum I accidentally tore. The only one I couldn't work in was the "stacked frames."

it's a sunny, cold (32 degrees F) day. But it looks like it will become a beautiful mid-50's day. Might have to venture out and do a couple 15 minute decluttering sessions outdoors today...need to mow (yep already) and trim some of the bushes before they start leafing out. Wish Someone lived here who liked doing yardwork.

Stomach issues today. Trying to think back if I ate something that would have set it off but so far can't think of anything...although the bacon might be suspect, from yesterday's breakfast.

Lots of little tasks on my list today (busy work, paper work, errands) and hopefully getting Noah's computer back together.

What's on you list today?

Happy Birthday Ellen!
Big Bang Theory is a popular television sitcom- based on the lives of some scientists and their quirky- not scientific neighbor. One of our favs!

Debi- It is a gorgeous day! Kobe and I walked for 3.5 miles this am, turning on all the sunny streets when possible. Good luck on your to-do list. I have laundry including bedsheets for the kids, hand therapy, order GS cookies, prep for tomorrow's GS meeting, enter in remaining yearbook orders, make March calendar for school and declutter for 15 minutes. I best get busy.

Monica B- sounds like a fun girls day!

Ok, if I could get some prayers for Gary. He has not one, but 3 calls this week for potential consulting jobs. This could be a turning point. Thank you!! I really do appreciate them. Well, we both do.

Toni, I think I said to go to the 3rd page, take the 3rd layout on the 1st row. May be reversed on the last two, first layout on the 3rd row. So just go to the 3rd page and pick which ever layout catches your eye.

Coughed all day, will be so happy when this stupid bug goes away.

Tammy, Randy would be so jealous of getting to go to any Comic Con. Think he's going to be able to go to one this year, not THE Comic Con but a small one that will be held in Nashville or Louisville or somewhere like that.

Ellen, Big Bang Theory is a TV show on Thursday night. It's one of our favorites. The tickets for the live taping are free but you have to be on the website the minute they post them in order to get them. They post them 30 days before the taping. That 30 day period ended up being at 10:30 on a Sunday, would have meant staying home from church so I didn't get tickets. By the time I got home at 11:10, they were all gone.

Debi, thanks for adding another challenge. That may give them a better choice.

Off to watch a little TV then I'm going to bed with my friend Nyquil.

I always say what I mean, I just may not mean to say it out loud!

Ok girls you asked for it, now you've got TWO Bookmarks challenges for March to choose from. You have no excuses not to do one now. LOL

Here's my page for the 3in1 Bookmarks Challenge.

Preschool Playdate
A little busier than my usual style but it was fun.

Happy Birthday Ellen!!!

Good evening Pea Friends!

I hope you all had a nice day. My day was pretty easy, nothing deep. I did actually get my pudgy butt to zumba class tonight, which was good. I'm obviously out of shape, it was only about 15 minutes after class before my muscles started getting sore.

Tammy - I'll pray for Gary's job situation. I really hope that the right door opens for him soon, it's awesome that he has people contacting him!

Nylene - Get well Sweet Lady! I miss seeing you on our thread brightening up our days. Prayers for healing coming your way. Pneumonia is nothing to mess with...take good care of yourself and do what the doctors say.

Toni - when is your Spring Break? Are you going to take some time to slow down a bit?

Diana - It's awesome that Daniel is doing so well in college. It sounds like he is working hard and being really responsible, which is so great. He's going to make his mama proud!!!

Well, I'm going to get off here...the Bachelor is coming on!

hello again!
I was sure dragging today. I think I might be coming down with something... although, my sinuses have been really bad so it might just be that.

I had a nice weekend - saw some friends on Saturday evening & went out to dinner with them. Then lunch & shopping with my cousin, her daughter, and a friend of her daughter's. We had a blast! I'm so ready for spring, though - tired of the cold!

Tomorrow I have a dentist appointment to get yet another tooth removed This one has been bothering me since before the oral surgery, though. Wish I would have just had it out at the same time. Before my appointment, I'm meeting up with my friend to go to a scrapbook store closing sale - both of us had worked at this store (that's where we met!), so we have to go check it out. Not to mention, everything will be 75% off!

Tina- I cracked up at your "pudgy butt" comment... if only you knew! I've been on a diet the last couple of weeks and it has been going well, but I seriously need to kick up the exercise part. So hard in winter, though, especially without a gym membership.

Debi- Sounds like a fun Bookmarks challenge! I like it.

Tammy- Big time prayers for Gary! 3 calls is a good sign... one of them better work out!

Toni- LOL, I knew exactly what you meant by new teachers and teachers who don't explain themselves well enough - what a mess! It is a tough job, though. I think of you every time a sub job comes up that's either Autism, LD, BD, or Functional Classroom -- I've only ever done one of those sub jobs once before, and it is HARD! They intimidate me. I have more and more appreciation for what you do!

Diana- It's good to see you! That is so great about volunteering at the equine therapy place! I've heard that is really effective therapy. I'm sure it will be rewarding for you to see kids making progress there! And good for Daniel - it sounds like he has a great deal going there. Both free rent AND $12.50 an hour is amazing. It's getting really tough out there to find a job... maybe he should keep it and it could turn into something bigger after college!

Theresa- Bummer about the Big Bang Theory tickets, but the Gulf Shores sounds like a nice place to visit! And even better that the hotel has such great service!

(on a side note, do you know the "Soft kitty, warm kitty" song that Sheldon insists on being sung to him when he is sick? I've had that stuck in my head ALL weekend, thanks to my friend's husband )

Nylene- I sure hope you start feeling better soon. We miss you around here! I know how you feel with the head thing - I was that way all day today. I just felt like my head was like a floating balloon. Yuck! Take care of yourself and get better!

**Happy birthday, Ellen!**
