I really like brads in all sizes. When I started scrapbooking, I mostly used them as center-pieces in flowers. But for some time I don't like flowers on my layout anymore, but I still like brads. (and have quite a few^^)
Someimes I see them on other layouts, but only used in a very special, "unique-for-this-layout" kind of way, especially when it comes to larger brads.
Has anyone a few ideas?
Thanks | |

They can be scattered about like buttons or used as an outline of a shape or along a border.

One idea: if you do clusters of embellishments on your page you can use it as a part of your cluster, same as you would with a gem or those enamel dots.

The very first Scrap Your Stash video was how to use brads.

You could make a banner and push the brads into each pennant on the banner, like I did.

I use them to attach vellum. Either a vellum embellishment or if I journal on the vellum.

I have been trying to find ways to use my really old stash. I have started using the very large Bazzill brads to make my own flair/badges. Some ways that I have altered them is: stamping directly on brad, covering with patterend paper, stamp image-color with spectrum noir -punch. I covered these with glossy accents. But the epoxy stickers would be great to use. I think I have some old ones of those. Sorry no photo yet.But it did really happen

I used lots of brads on this layout. I used them in between each piece of the banner and then 2 larger brads on either side of the layout.
used lots of brads
Sorry the picture of the layout isn't that great!

I use the smaller ones sometimes as a detail embellishment, like 3 square ones along the top, usually at the end or in the middle. Down the side, in the same way or under a photo. Its always three or one though.

I love the idea of brads as headlights . I also have used brads to embellish die cuts...wheels, add pop to polka dots, ornaments on a Christmas tree, eyes on animals, add a brad to a sticker for some dimension just like you would bling or the enamel dots.

You can take the prongs off the back and use them like enamel dots.

I use them a lot in embellishment clusters, in a little row at the top or bottom, or just scattered around my LOs.
Here are some examples from my gallery:

I use them in lots of cards and layouts. I use them as eyes for cute little critters I die cut. I use them to attach several layers after I have embossed and inked the layers, and adhesive doesn't hold them together too well. I've used them on top of ribbons on cards, for an extra little embellishment. I've also used them to replace any small circles on my layouts and cards.

Great ideas here! I will have to keep these in mind to use up some of my brads. Honestly I find them difficult to use so I don't buy many

I use mine in a half circle shape on the corner of a photo. Helps to add interest. I have used it to show the action of "bouncing" across the page. I have this circle stencil/template and it has lots of different sizes in it. I use it to make the half circle shape for my photo corners. I think it is around a 3-4 in circle size that I use. Helps fill up the space.
I'm trying to find some bright brads, but no one makes them anymore. I can only find bright with glitter. I like the tiny ones.
