Me too! I am not too good at it. Yet. But it's my newest fascination.

Rediscovering old techniques and products has been my favorite thing lately. I'm more inspired these days by using what I have with maybe one or two new additions than by anything new.

I'm a pretty classic scrapper, though - so my pages do not tend to be very technique driven.

Oh, heat! I've yet to try dry embossing, but I do eye up the machines/folders pretty often.

I just discovered -- like, last week! -- that it is not as hard as I thought it would be. Yay! So far I've used Gold glitter finish, opaque grapefruit, and opaque white powders. All Zing by American crafts. Amazing!!
There is something magical about watching the embossing powder transform...

And I just use the automotive heat gun we bought to pull up the sticky tiles on our kitchen floor! So if you've ever thought about heat embossing you could try with a heat gun you might already have at home instead of buying one new.

Bwahahaha Ashley! My dad uses his machanic stuff for everything... he once put a timing belt on the washing machine. He will be so happy to hear about this!

I am seriously trying to use up some chipboard... I guess that's really not a technique is it?

I love the way the metallic gold looks just like you melted gold metal and poured it on your layout.

It's nothing ground-breaking, but I have recently started stamping more directly on my layouts, to add texture and detail to the backgrounds. I really like Lawn Fawn's Interlocking Backdrops set for that...the newer Sharp Backdrops set looks like it'll be awesome, too!

I'd love to get back into embossing - I can't believe I gave my gun away when I stopped scrapping so long ago... And I would like to use mists and paints more... I love watching techniques online but that's as far as I've gotten.

I owned a sewing machine over five years old that I had bought to scrap with, but had never sewn on a page. I started sewing on pages a month ago and now I am loving that stitched touch.

Oh wow! Embossing here too. I found this thus little plastic dots at a fabric store that would be perfect to make my own enamel dots since they only had cream and clear brown. But I only have basic colors for dry embossing. Any suggestions to save myself money instead if going on a crazy zing shopping spree? I can't afford it right now cuz if I'm going to spend money it will be SC Snippets .

You maybe do this already, and it's not really new for me, but I have recently fallen back in love with foam stamps and paint. I know you can use acrylic stamps with paint too, but I can't bring myself to let paint get in the nooks and crannies of my stamps that aren't foam.

Ooooo...kinda forgot about acrylic paint. I was trying to white emboss something and all of my EP was too translucent. Paint might be the answer for me. Thanks!

I've been loving creating backgrounds with my stamps lately. I often use my Old Paper distress ink so it is a tone-on-one type of thing. Most of it gets covered up, but it makes a great foundation layer.

I have recently fallen back in love with foam stamps and paint.

I've totally held on to all my foam stamps & want to get back into this too!

Right now, I think I sew a lot, gold wet emboss a lot & stamping directly on my pages. Nothing ground breaking, but I've not been doing any of them for a while & enjoy digging back through all my old stash to get out all my embossing powders & clear stamps back out.

I recently came accross some old wax seals that you put down & heat with your heat gun...then stamp your rubber stamp into the wax. I love the vintage wax seal look & I have probably had this package for over 15 years from PSX, before they went out of business.

Seriously Ashley, gold? You love the gold?

I love to heat emboss--I've been using clear embossing with mists lately. Love it. Make sure your mist has dried before cleaning the mist off the clear EP with a babywipe. I smeared a LO; it looks ok but I wish I would have waited.

Here's a tip: use the same color ink you're going to emboss. Red ink and red embossing powder. You get a much deeper, uniform color. For gold use a golden yellow. For silver use gray.

Digital stamps and Copics... Colouring is so relaxing, loved it since I was a child... I have a hard time getting started with projects so colouring relaxes me and gets me in the creative mood Want to try doing some paper piecing with digi stamps, and also print out one really large and paint or sew on it... Something much more altered than just colouring it

You can heat emboss using the burner on your kitchen stove...

my secret is I have been trying to stamp something on every layout.

I also had some cardstock that I printed journalling on then didn't use. When I ran it through my Big Shot to cut out a title later I turned the cardstock wrong side up on and I liked the look of the text on my die cut letters... I might have to print something else and cut out some more titles like that...

I have one but it is a secret until I show it in my next video. Something really simple and it involves mists!
I also love masked stamping. I punch out an image and then use a text stamp or patterned stamp and stamp over the mask.

Well... sometimes you can find "starter sets" of embossing powder. They will have 20 or so little jars of embossing powder in different colors. That way you can try them out, see what colors you use most. There is enough in each jar to last quite a long time, actually. I bought mine years ago and have not run out of any of it, but I don't emboss that often.

You can use versamark, colored ink and clear embossing powder if you don't want to buy multiple colors of embossing powder. One little jar of ep lasts a long time. You just ink your stamp with versamark first then the colored ink. The versamark does not harm the ink pad and still allows you to emboss without a problem
