I am just get into Washi, and only have about 20, but the rolls are so big I will never use all that is on them. I was wondering if anyone is interested in doing some kind of a trade so people could end up with a bunch of different ones? (maybe trade in yards lenths?)

I don't know what we'd put the tape on, but I'm open to ideas.

ETA: I'm not sure how to organize it, but we could do 10 randomn types 1 yard each, and exchange even with people, would that work? (by exchange even I mean if you got them from 2 people, you send back to the same 2 people) I could make a list of everyone interested. It would be exciting to see what people send!

UPDATE:

I pmailed everyone interested, if I missed you let me know. I'll get the list together tomorrow and email everyone who gave me their info.

Added 3/15: I had more people express interest, so am doing a 2nd list, anyone who missed the 1st, let me know if you want to be included on that. tia

I think Jen Gallacher just posted about this on another thread, I can't remember what she said to put them on though. I would be interested in doing this, I have over 40 rolls of washi tape now and I can't picture myself ever running out of even one roll!

You can put it on Popsicle Sticks or paper tags since it's removable.

Thanks, KikiPea! That's actually what I was thinking of. Here's what Jen Gallacher originally said on the Doodlebug washi thread:

One thing you could do is get a bunch of crafters together and each of you buy a roll, then split up the rolls between you. That way you get every color, style, and size you want. You could wrap the tape around a craft stick for each person and even fit a bunch of different tapes on one stick.

Wonder if others would be interested in doing this? I'll post a picture of my washi collection in the gallery.

I just recently did this on the fsot board, and I swapped with 8 other peas. We just wrapped them around journal cards and put them in an envelope to mail. Super easy.

I would also be interested. We did this once on the swap board. People used a variety of things - tags, clothespins, mini spools you can buy at M's, HL etc. or the small plastic cards you can wrap cross stitch around.

Also incase anyone is interested freckled fawn is doing a washi exchange.. You can find the details of the exchange on there website or Facebook page! I think this is such a great idea! I have almost 200 rolls of washi (I know I need help ) I'm considering to just RAK some of it since I really don't need anymore and have way beyond my use as is! I have been purging my stash lately and when I'm done I think ill be sending it to a pea in need

We recently did a washi trade on the for sale or trade board and everyone just took pictures of their washi and if you were interested in a particar one you just contacted that person for a specific trade. That way you could each exchange for what you wanted. I suggest putting it on a spool or on a shipping tag or journal card.

If you wrap it around card stock or Popsicles does it crease?

It does crease a little, that's why I think it's better to do it on something bigger than a popcicle stick, but it generally doesn't stay creased.

So, is someone actually in charge of pairing us up or are we just individually contacting someone?

I would love to join in, I do not have a lot, I am just starting my washi collection, but I have about 20 rolls, I will take a photo tomorrow. This sound like such a good idea, I know I will never use up all of these, so much more fun to share with you all.

I don't have a lot but would love to trade.

I really really want the freckled fawn cherry one. Anyone have that? That they would like to trade.

I wrapped mine around card stock cut to fit in a business envelope (think bills) a d that way there were longer pieces without creases. But I have not noticed the creases to be an issue on the ones I have used.

I have a lovely roll to trade because I have another exactly like it. It's cream-colored graph background with a sort of aqua-but-not-too-much-so-blue swirl pattern on it.

I'd love to trade for a roll of brown of any pattern. I have no brown in my stash.

Thanks for the thread.

I have a average amount to swap---Smash (black dots), October Afternoon (birthday, numbers, date label), Recollections (camera, film strip, white, black and white lines, Target(all colors stripes, dots, solids, Queen and Co.(bubbles), clouds and hearts, stars on blue. That's off the top of my head.
