Do you ever like pictures of yourself?

Approx. how many pictures a year do you like of yourself?

I have a theory that nobody really likes pictures of themselves, but it might just be me. Lol! We are our own worst critics for sure.

I only like maybe 2-3 pictures of myself a year.

I like "NONE", lol.
I feel like the most un-photogenic person ever, and try to avoid it at all costs. How ever, there are the times it is unavoidable, and then I just have to grin and bear it.

I have very few pictures of myself *ever* that I really like. I don't like how I look in pics--skin looks more red next to others, I always have an awkward pose and smile, double chin looks worse. I hope what I see in the mirror is accurate, not the photos.

I rarely like the way I look in photos.

I'll look in the mirror and see that my makeup looks nice; my hair is looking good; my outfit seems flattering. I'll have DH snap a picture and I look like crap.

I made a scrapbook called "Things I think about" and I put some of my favorite photos of myself in it.

I do like some pictures of myself. I used to hate them all.

I am turning 51 on Monday and I guess as I've aged I've learned to accept myself more. I think having a husband who often tells me I'm beautiful and that he loves me helps a lot. My weight has been an issue for me since I was a teenager. I've lost and gained lots of weight and used to hate pictures of my heavier self. I'm really working on being happy in spite of my weight.

I got married on NYE and really love a few pictures of myself from my wedding... unfortunately none of them are of just me and my husband . My profile picture is from that night and I love it! It's cropped from a great picture of me and my sister and it makes me smile every time I look at it.

I know! I think I look pretty good in the mirror, but I'm not photogenic and most pics of me I don't like at all. One of the very few good ones is what I use for facebook.

As long as I'm smiling, I'm okay with most pictures, but if someone catches me without a smile, I hate it... age is catching up with my face!

At this point in my life (overweight and disgusted with how I look), none. I avoid cameras at all costs.

Hoping to change that soon, because I hate that if I die, my kids won't have any pictures of themselves with me.

I've always been super self-conscious in front of a camera and have only a couple of dozen pictures of myself, through the years (I'm 44). That being said, I've been trying to make more of an effort to get in pictures lately. After losing a bit of weight and finally growing some of my hair back (I lost a ton of it a couple of years ago), I figure THIS is as good as I get. The next few decades will likely have more wrinkles, hair loss, grey hair, etc., so I want to capture my "youth" will I still have some of it. I guess I've finally come to accept myself, for this moment in time.

As I've aged (working my way towards 52) my definition of a "fat" photo of myself has changed. My "fat" photo from 1987 that used to make me cringe is now AWESOME and wth was I thinking?

But I've noticed something similar with photos of my kids--each school year, when the school photos came I would think "they look so grown up!". Looking back at the same photos two years later I would think "they were just babies!"

I have gotten a little better recently. And not because I look better (at my highest weight ever, ugh). But I finally realized that what I see of myself in pictures is what everyone else sees every time they look at me, so the issue with pictures is with ME, not with anyone else. I look like I look - they see it all the time and love me. I just don't see myself very often. Does that make sense? Now that I have made that realization, I'm more accepting of pictures of myself.

Lately I like more of them. Losing seventy pounds has a way of making you more comfortable in front of the camera. But even so, sometimes I think I look hideous and tired and other ones I think I look pretty ok.

I like some pictures of myself- I would say maybe 50% of them I like, 30% I don't particularly care for, and 20% are That 20% reminds me of jim gaffigans joke, "You ever see a photo of yourself and it just kinda ruins your day?"

I still take lots of photos of myself though because I love to have those memories. The digital camera is my best friend- I just edit till I get the right one! DH and I love to look through the scrapbooks of things we've done together- I'd be bummed if I wasn't in any of them!

I'm pretty hard on myself in general, so it goes without saying that I don't like the majority of photos of me. There are a handful I'm happy with, but for the most part, I don't usually care for photos of me.

Wanted to add...sometimes I think the camera tells you a better story than the mirror. When I was trying on wedding dresses I had my mom take a picture of me in one I loved, and when I looked at the picture on the camera I realized it was ALL WRONG. Since then, I've paid attention to pictures and if I realize something doesn't look good on me in a picture I toss it.

The ex rarely took photos of me and when he did he always made sure it was right when I was taking a bite of food or my mouth was open to talk to the kids or best of all he would "accidently" have his finger or something in the way. And of course he would just love to share these pictures and have a good laugh at my expense. I got conditioned over the years to avoid the camera like the plague even if he wasn't the one holding it and as a result there are very few pictures of me for over 25 years.

SO loves taking pictures of me and it has taken me a couple of years to just let him snap away. It's really kind of strange to see pictures of myself after rarely being in a picture for over a quarter of a century.

The ones I like best are the ones taken when I am not aware of the camera - I never dreamed that there would be a time when I could relax if a camera was around.

I like the vast majority of them unless I'm blinking or you caught me eating or something. I hope that doesn't make me vain, but I've also been told that I'm quite photogenic. Also my dh takes about a million shots to get the lighting perfect, so if I don't keep the same smile and position I'm likely to be frowning in the one with the proper lighting. So I have lots of practice.

I never used to like photos of myself. And I still sometimes hate the occasional 'candid'. But I've been taking self-portraits lately and quite liking the results.

I am sure that sounds self-centred and egotistical, lol, but I love photography and my family was getting tired of posing so I decided to step in front of the lens myself, and do it for the practice, as much as an attempt to immortalize myself.

I find that I can pose myself decently to maximize my good features and minimize my flaws. And a bit of editing helps too, though I don't do a lot in photoshop.

Even the most beautiful people in the world can end up with horrible photos. Some angles, lighting, etc. are just not flattering on 'anyone'. There are tricks you can do to help ensure better results. Have whoever is taking the photo be a bit above you, if possible, looking down.

Never below looking up. Dh used to be lazy and sit on the sofa to take a photo of me standing. It's a horrible angle! Even Angelina Jolie would look like crap from that angle. (Okay, she might be able to pull it off, but 99% of the population couldn't).

Take multiple photos, especially at important events, so that if you do blink, or have you chin tucked down, or have a weird smile once in a while, you have a better chance of also getting some good shots.

I have a theory that because we always see ourselves in the mirror, which is backwards of how everyone else sees us, that when we see a photo, it can throw us to a certain extent.

Most people do not have perfectly even features. If you are used to seeing one thing and accept it as okay, then see something different, I think you are more likely to reject it. If you have a side part in your hair, it will be reversed in photos. Little things like that, I think, affect us even subconsciously.

As I have gotten older, I have become far less critical of myself. I appreciate the things that are positive about my appearance, and don't give as much weight to those that are not.

I am getting older and overweight.

I take pictures daily for scrapbooking and make sure I am included in my weekly project life albums next to my kids, family & dog.

I prefer photos that are headshots or waist up but none really bother me. It is who I am. Plus I'm going to have a ton of before shots if I ever get motivated to lose weight!

Hardly ever do I like a posed pic of myself. I know most people say they're not photogenic, but TRULY, I am SO not photogenic! If I'm not blinking, then my eyes are at least half closed, or one looks bigger than the other - it's horrible! The only pics I have a chance of liking is candid ones where I'm not looking anywhere near the camera.

I don't like a ton because I'm fat or whatever, but after going to a friends funeral a few years ago and seeing the slideshow of this 30 year old man 'doing nothing' with his kids, it made me realise I need to be in more photos. Another friend said she has (other than their wedding) exactly 3 photos of her DH. He hates photos.

I'm probably in a few hundred photos a year.

I rarely ever like pictures of myself (chubby), skin not always right, can't always get rid of the double chin, and the list goes on. However, my mom died suddenly when I was 23 and I have very few pictures of her, so there are plenty of pictures of me, for that reason.

I'm about like OP. I avoid being in photos and like maybe 1-3 annually.

Oddly, I hate almost every photo when it is taken. I need time - even just a few months - to look back and say "oh that's not bad."

I might have 6 per year because my kids and DGD like photos with me. Usually I avoid them since I'm taking them. But they like to use their phones to take them of us together

I'm fat and have always been ugly. I don't care about pictures of myself. I think a few pictures are taken each year. I'm usually the one taking the pictures anyway.

I have bad skin and it's apparent in my pictures I don't care to go to a dermatologist and resolve the issue.

I feel ok about every photo that makes it to my computer, because I delete delete delete any that are unflattering.

Like another poster said photos taken years ago, that I thought I looked chubby in, I look back at now 20 years later, and think " wow, you know, I looked ok, and I look so young".

I try to get myself in some photos, otherwise it looks like dh is the only one who did anything with the kids or took them anywhere.

Believe me in 20 years you will look back at photos of you now and think how good you looked.
