I guess because I have a small space, which I also share with my family as our home office/computer and printer space. And then there is the problem that my scrapping stash keeps growing and I need new solutions for storage... I am sure I am not alone with this problem.

I have a reasonable size corner in the basement & I have a good size storage. But its that I am not 100% satisfied with the organization method I am using right now. And the fact that my supplies are multiplying somehow needs more storage space or a new method.
Like for example I started with 2-3 rolls of Washi so it was perfect to have them in a pretty bowl on my table. Then somehow it got to 10 well a bigger bowl was fine too but now I have 20 and more on the way so what do I do now

I haven't found anything that really works with my style of organizing.

I think of my organizing as "organizing in layers". I have most of my letter stickers put away in a trunk, but then my current favourites out in sight. Same thing for other embellishments like brads, sequins, glitter, ribbon, etc.

Small space. I have a corner of our LR that I share with the household printer, coloring crayons, and general office-y stuff. I am slowly getting it to work, but my desk is WAY too small also, so I can't really have very much "with in reach" so I am constantly getting up to grab what is organized on a bookshelf next to me.

I never found what truly worked for me in terms of organization until I figured out what kind of scrapper I was.

It seems like common sense to know but I didn't really know.

Then I saw a blog post that a Pea made about her room (and I am blanking on the gal's name but I will come back and give credit where it's due when I finally remember it) and she said that she scrapbooks by theme and color. I thought hey, that makes sense. I'm constantly searching through my stash looking for something of the right color or something in a particular theme . . . I guess that's what kind of scrapper I am!

I reorganized my room that way ... if it had a distinct theme (i.e. birthday, holiday, baby girl, Disney, or any of the MAJOR things that I scrapbook), it got a drawer (or two or three).

If it wasn't a particular theme but it was a basic color, it was put together with papers of those colors (or in a car with buttons, brads, ribbons, etc., of like colors).

All of a sudden I had a FUNCTIONAL room for me. Even buying new stuff and putting it away is so much easier for me now.

I hope that's what you were asking!!

Now I just have to find the Pea's name ........!

I have organized more than I have scrapped.
All of my embellishments are in clear boxes and all of my pattern paper is in albums.

Ive read the Organized & Inspired Scrapper and taken LOM (Organizing by color). I have taken parts of those systems but still get stuck and then try new ideas.

My organization system is always changing; most recently I'm loving a set of 10 clear plastic shoe boxes each filled with a different type of embellishment (ie. washi tapes & ribbons; brads, buttons and bling; letter stickers; stamps and mists; etc). I challenge myself to use something from at least half of the boxes on each layout.

Up until now, the majority of my stuff has just been in boxes, stacked upon each other. Obviously, this method is too labor intensive to take stuff out, then put it all back. I just got an expedit, though, so I'm hoping to be more organized very soon - I need to get it out of the box and put together.

The only foreseeable organizing problem I see having is with my patterned paper. Right now I have my paper in 12x12 Sterilite drawers, which works really well because I have to fan through all of my papers to find what I want for a particular LO. By doing it this way, it is more likely that older paper will get used because I'm less likely to forget about it. However, my drawers will not fit in the expedit cubes, so I need to find a new way to store and organize my papers.

I don't like my stuff "sitting out" yet I'm visual & like to see it to be inspired. It feels too cluttered to see it on a clip it up, etc.

I've been scrapping forever and I still haven't found a decent way to organize and I've tried it all by color by then by item nothing works all the time. And now I'm just plain out of room. a little 8 x 8 room is not big enough.

The books or classes that didn't help, were not helpful because they didn't address *me* and *how I approach my scrapping*

Organization and filing that doesn't match my retrieval needs simply doesn't work.

It takes a lot of time to think about how *I* THINK. Once I figure that out it is easier to set up an organization system that works for me.

I've learned a lot about what works for me.
#1 It has to be easy to put away!!!! All those little containers and watch tins and pockets and binders made things easy to find, but I didn't keep it up because I dreaded putting things away!
#2 Lids and closed containers don't work for me. Every extra step needed to access supplies makes creating and cleaning harder. It doesn't seem like much, but if you use 15 items on a layout and have to open a container to get each one it adds up! Same goes for keeping ribbon spools or washi rolls on a rod. It looks great, but I need to grab 2 or three rolls to hold next to my paper to decide. If I have to pull off 10 others to get the colors I want or cut off 4 colors then use only 1 it gets annoying.
#3 It's ok to mix things up! I used to have brads sorted with each color in its own container, and eyelets, and flowers, alphas... That got really overwhelming! Then they'd make some new embellie and I'd have to come up with a new system for storing it! I've got nearly everything now sorted into bins by color or theme. Smaller bits like eyelets & brads & flowers go into jars by color with large openings so I can reach in and rummage.
#4 ZONES!!! Stamping stuff all in one area, die cutting has another area, messy painting another. I used to keep stuff where it fit, so I'd go to one area for a stamp, another for ink, and another for cleanup stuff. Now it's all grouped in one area so I can grab (and put away!) everything easily.
Hope that helps! I think I've spent as much time and money on organizing as I have scrapping but I've learned a lot. (I even "zoned" my kitchen the same way I did my craft room!)

I scrap more and am happier if I can see my stash. The probably is that I also want in contained so it's not too messy. I've never taken a class or read a book about it (scrap room organization) though.

I'm happy with my organization but I just wanted to chime in and say if you're considering doing a podcast on organizing - I'm all for it!

I listened to 3 episodes today while I cleaned like a mad woman - Fitting It In (and I would love to hear you do another episode on that, with more everyday scrappers), Project Life 6 Mos. Later and a really recent one from a week or two ago.

I used to have real issues with organising my scrapbook supplies. I had a scraproom. I tried everything... I'd see something somebody else did, and try it. Often these things didn't work because they weren't in the way I scrapbook. My room was always a mess and I'd often hate going in there or spend hours and hours organising.

I now have a much smaller space (part of the lounge), with limited storage space. However, I am happy with the way my organisation works for me. I limit my supplies. If it doesn't fit in the designated space, I can't buy it. I need to use up before I can buy more. I organise in the way I scrapbook... this goes for photo, papers, embellishments, stamps. Containers need to be kept on the small side because I don't have a lot of room on my desk, and things need to be easy to put away (and get put away each time). They also need to be toddler proof.

In the end I found less is more. I'm happier, better organised, and scrap more. I put things away as I scrap, and now need to 'organise' far less. I'll occasionally re-organise as I find my methods or supplies change, so that everything still flows with my process.

A lot of the issue for me is that i might know how i like to store stuff (for example washi tapes in a bowl), but i don't know where to put that bowl in my small space. A lot of my issue is figuring out how to organize my area so that i get maximum space if that made sence

After several attempts of arranging and rearranging my space, I found several things just didn't work for me. Although I loved the look of people's spaces that have pretty and unique bowls and baskets to store their things in, it just didn't work for me. I felt like my things were too scattered about and felt cluttered to me. Instead what I did was arrange my space in a "U" shape with my desk at the bottom of the "U" so I have the 2 sides of the "U" on either side of my at the same height as my desktop giving me ample space for all the things I do use close at hand while I am scrapping. There is plenty of storage underneath the top of the workspace with everything in the same boxes all labled so eveything looks nice and neat which keeps my mind clutter free allowing me to be more creative.

The other thing that did not work for me was having an electronic die cutting maching, ie., the Cricut. I tried different places to keep it with the though in mind that "maybe it will actually get used", if I put it this was. For example, I gave it it's own "station" so to speak with all the mats and carts, etc...within easy reach so I could just load and cut...nope, didn't work. Then they came out with the Cricut Craft Room so I thought, "Oh this will be great" so I downloaded the program...linked all my carts and moved the cricut closer to my desk , again with the same "maybe it will actually get used" mentality...NOPE still collected dust, only this time it was in my way all the time. I realized that I am not an electronic die cutting type of scrapper. While I'll admit the CCR did make it easier to find, size and actually cut my chosen die, it also meant that I could not use my laptop to watch TV or Youtube or Ustream while scrapping which is something I LOVE to do while scrapping. So, I packed up my not so beloved Cricut and bought a bigshot which gets used all the time. I should have just got one of those in the first place....LOL

I've tried all kinds of storage methods, but have realized that I am very visual, so I have to see it, or it won't be used. I can't have it in a closet, in a drawer, or in a box.

You can't have a "one size fits all" method of organizing. It all depends on what kind of scrapper you personally are. I would admire a person's scrapping style and think that their organization method would work for me, too. Not so much.

If you are doing a class on organization, I personally would love to see how to organize on a budget! Though I have the room, it is not the prettiest spot and not very inviting to create in. I normally take my project downstairs by my big picture window so I can see the cows out in the field across the street.

In the end I found less is more.

It took me years to realize that I was a more prolific scrapper in the early years not because I was new to the the hobby but because I had less stuff. I started in 1991 (whoa... loonnggg time ago) with not much more than colored cardstock, markers, and decorative scissors. And I loved every minute of it.

Along the way I became a collector rather than a scrapper. And it sucked the fun out of it.

So I have been finding my way back to my roots. I've pared it down (who am I kidding? I'm trying - lol - to pare it down... I still get taken in by pretty stuff in pretty packaging) and I'm enjoying the creative process more.

I also know that I am a very visual person and my best storage is simply those clear drawer units. It's not sexy... or vintage... or cutesy. But it's what works for me.

This is our 4th house (and retirement home) to set up scrapbooking. I've learned several things in each of those places about myself and how I SB.
1. I'm a social scrapper, so I go to a lot of crops. That means I need some portability built into my stationary set-up.
2. Being social, I won't go to a room in my house (have had 3) and SB when DH is in the living room/den. So the SB area has to be in the same room, even if I use headphones on my laptop to play a movie. I like to "SEE" him.
3. I need a U-Shape working space, because I have to have most of what I use at hand.

DH and I are planning my space in our oversized living room so that it is esthetically pleasing, easy to keep clean, yet store everything underneath the "U" shaped desk area. He is building a half wall around the area. I'm getting excited.

I have a 5'x 10' closet behind where the SB U shaped desk will be. It has a built in desk, so that will be my stamping area. I have those metal wire shelves (like in industrial kitchens) with castors. I am now organizing those for storage. One is all paper, so I can roll it out of the closet when I'm working on kits to take to crops.

That's all I have, so far. But I'm hopeful.

I have seen and tried countless systems that looked great but did not work for me. I need a system that is pet proof so I don't end up with hair in my stash. That rules out any open storage.

I also learned that I scrap by color and need things organized that way. This made a huge difference for me.

I tried organizing everything by color in one container but that didn't work. For me some things are organized by color and others by type but it works with how I scrap.

For example, buttons, brads and eyelets are sorted by color in containers because that is how I work. Inks have their own space and are stored by color within that system. Tags, envelopes, banners etc are all stored together in a watch box ....

I keep all of my kits together for a while then break them down and store by color because that is how all of my other cs and pp is stored.
6 x 6 pads are stored together until they are taken apart. I have 2 systems for scraps depending on the size. Large scraps are stored in ziplock bags with the folder for uncut pp. smaller scraps are in a basket within easy reach. When the basket is too full it is purged.

My system needs some fine tuning, but overall works for me. As others have said, once I identified how I scrapped organizing became easier.

For me, it's a financial issue. I have the money to add to my scrapbook stash here and there, but not the extra money to drop $200+ in one trip to Wal-Mart for a new organization system. If I have to do it in bits and pieces, I'll eventually stop buying the pieces and the room will go back to chaos again.

So, I've decided to work on getting my stash to fit my space instead of molding my space to fit my stash. I'm selling off boxes of newer supplies and giving away boxes of older supplies to my friends and family who scrap. Once I've gotten the stash to a manageable level (and I'm thinking that will be a year from now), I can think about changing my organization up.

Tracie -- Hello! We will definitely continue to do organization episodes for the Paperclipping Roundtable podcast periodically (and I got a GREAT for the next one from this post!!!). I'm not planning do one quite yet, though.

I set up this thread to help me brainstorm for a possible course. There is so much out there on organization for scrapbookers, and yet it continues to be the dominant struggle for a majority. I'm curious to know what scrapbookers continue to struggle with after they've given it a good shot by taking a class or used a book.

I've read books and read blogs about organizing and gotten some great ideas but I guess it's because no one scraps the same way every time that there is never one solution for everyone. For example, I like to use collections together but I also like to mix things up a little too! So, I can't organize solely by color because that would break up the collections but when I'm trying to find something else that will go with a particular layout, I could use everything sorted by color. I like Noelle's method of sorting papers by mood and have done that for my miscellaneous pieces but I still like to keep the collections together.
I like examples & ideas for how to store things and then I can organize them as I want - like organizing the paper by mood - love that! I love the suggestion of keeping scraps in a bucket that I go through when I want a small piece or a piece to go with a particular page - great combinations appear with that method. Or how Shimelle said she keeps all her die cuts in a bowl. I've been doing this a little again, once I've got miscellaneous pieces left. I like to keep the packages from collections together. The thing is, I don't ALWAYS scrap that way so one method doesn't always work!

I've read many blogs related to storage, crafting, viewed what others do, read nearly every 2 Peas thread on the topic, etc. While I admire so much of what others have and can do - it doesn't really translate to ME. Why?

1) Finances
2) My unique life situation - I'm disabled and essentially bedridden. So my "scraproom" is the wall along my side of the bed. Only, I REALLY DO NOT want our bedroom to feel like a craft room!

Right now I have a cabinet/hutch with baskets on the shelves, but still struggle with a desktop solution - needs to be held on my lap in bed.

In my dreams, I would have built in storage with curtains or pocket doors that could be pushed back revealing my scrapstuff that is within my arms reach from bed. When I'm finished I could close things up and have things back to romantic bedroom/living space! Right now, we don't have the $$ to design and build such a feature so we make do.

I think that everyone's creative process is different, everyone's physical and financial situation is unique so that's why "just do it this way like me" organizing solutions really don't work for most scrappers!

Wow, this is one of the best threads on organizing and struggles I have ever read!!! You ladies have bared your struggles honestly.

I have professionally worked for many companies as a workflow organizer. And I can tell you, no two offices/companies do the same thing or need the same equipment in the same location.

It is about the flow of the work.

Before my husband unexpectedly died my scrap studio was 15x24. I like things grouped by -color, paper, flowers, brads, embellishments. I had three tables in a U shape with a stamp station at the top end of the U with a walk thru space. I like to stand when I stamp and scrap so I solved that by getting a higher chair that lowers and rises.

At the stamping station is all I needed to stamp -inks, stamps, cleaner, paper towels, paint, mists, white card stock, scissors.

At the cutting station, all my cutting tools, scissors, dies. Also, the containers with scraps sorted by color right there so clean up is a breeze, cut green paper then in a snap green scraps are in the green storage container and trash is in the trash with two sweeps of my hand. I have a tall garbage can (no bag) for paper trash. I have scissors at every station bc I need a pair at each station.

At my design station I had pictures, and paper sorted by color and theme. And some by collection. I had design tools including magazines or laptop.

I am visual so I like to see most everything but don't like clutter nor do I want to dig for a stamp or a ribbon or washi.

May I make a suggestion? The next time you scrap have prepared beforehand a notebook and as you scrap jot down all the times you think or say "I wish I had...." or "I should move that over here"
Ask yourself 'what would make this better? this isn't working. And take all your wishes and shoulda's and start a 3 ring planning binder and every time you add a idea put a tab divider and start planning each wish till you solve the problem or make your wish come true.

If you need something that is costly plan for it. Save as you look for the perfect answer. go the the thrift store or craft store or Home Depo or the Container store or Big Lots, or Cosco or the endless internet. with one thing on your mind---what you need for that one wish or need. Of course, take advantage of those 40% & 50% off coupons.

I have helped 25-30 gals re-organize their space. I went to their home watched them scrap, walked around their space. Some had no money for re-organizing and some had way too much, LOL.

I have not had a scrap space for three years. I will begin this week to fit stuff that fit in a 15x24ft space into a 9x10'9"!! OH, that is another thing you need to do is measure your space correctly then buy some grid/graph paper. Draw the room using each square as one foot, draw your room with a pencil allow for the window and doors and they way the door swings open. Next, measure your furniture that you have for your room and duplicate it by the same 1foot= 1 square on the graph paper.

In my 3 ring binder I have my room drawn on the graph paper and all the pieces with reposition dots on the outside of the room. I have paint swatches of colors I may like. I got about four of each color to lay on all for sides of the room.

I have all the 'wishes and problems' listed, each on it's own sheet of paper with a file tab and as I get ideas, I jot it down.

Problems-- paneling and red shag carpet. I want the room to be tan and aqua/teal which doesn't go with RED SHAG CARPET.

I have helped several online but it is hard if they don't have a video cam or Skype to show me their issues but it is still more difficult.

I've been scrapping for a long time (since 1995), and only recently realized what was wrong with my current space....I wasn't actually sitting down and creating a whole lot (here at home) so I wasn't very self aware of what kind of scrapper I am. I was doing a lot of shuffling product around and I felt like I was always organizing (which was fun in itself), but until I really just sat in the midst of all my mess of stuff and created pages, then I realized what I needed in terms of organization; what I wanted where, etc. Self awareness for me was key!!

I definitely think any class or book or course should focus on finding out what type of crafter you are....I'm thinking about the Myers-Briggs test for personality. If something like this could be created to find out "what kind of scrapper/creator you are" that would be amazing!!

I think each season of life will look different in terms of where and how you scrap. There is so much that changes in our lives...maybe just knowing that our scrapping habits will have to "morph" right along with the rest of those changes is good to keep in mind.

I'm definitely VERY interested in a class/course that focuses on this topic. Definitely.

This has to be one of the best dicussions, I have learnt such a lot from you peas.
I have moved my scraproom four times in 15 years in the same house, from basement to front room from this I have learned a lot, I too learned I don't do well not being around my family, I like being around my husband and if he is watching something noisy Bose headphones are essential while I watch YouTube videos to fire up my scrapbooking juju.
Storage wise I tried Clip It Up but found I actually like things put away by colour in my Ikea Billy bookcase with nice white clean doors, my 12 x 12 paper in Jetmax cubes in CH pouches by color.
One of the biggest insights I had was that having too much stuff weighs me down mentally and sucks the joy right out of SB, tough as we know with all the great new 'stuff' coming out right now, and, that I thought I was a messy person who created well in a little mess, but I do not, I like clean and clear, nobody was more suprised than me.
I am with you peas who think a personality test for scrapbooking and storage style would be a great idea. : )

Wonderful thread. One of my issues is a messy desk. I like to have tools and most used supplies nearby. Makes sense, right? However when I start scrapbooking, my work area gets smaller and smaller. If I try to do some organizing before I start working, then I get distracted by all the stuff on my desk and forget about the project I wanted to scrap! I am lucky enough to have a designated craft room, but I also quilt so this room includes a sewing table and a cutting table. Somehow I manage to cover every flat surface and end up overwhelmed.

I am still totally overwhelmed with my things. I have a room that is about 12x12. I am one of the ones who has read just about everything there is about organization and taken the classes but I still seem to be stumped.

I have a huge problem with purging which is part of the problem.

Perhaps one day, I will figure it out. Haha and maybe some day I will post something to the gallery!

I started out storing my few scrapping tools, papers, inspiration books/mags, etc., in a Navigator and a small Iris cart back in 1998. 15 years and 6 houses since then, my stuff and scrap space has ebbed and flowed from dining room tables to half a basement storage space, from guest/spare bedrooms to a dedicated *studio* in a finished basement.

And do I have storage containers? Baskets, bins, jars, boxes, carts, shelves, cases, binders, bags, bulletin boards, totes, tool chests, cabinets, closets, tables and more, and more, and more....

I have organized based on how I scrap, by how cute the containers look, by color, by theme, by function...I have read magazine articles, soft & hardcover books and blogs and watched countless youtube tutorials, all in search of the perfect system that will fulfill my every scrapping dream. My *Organizational Nirvana*

I'm both surrounded and eyeball deep in all this stuff I LOVE, and yet I can never find what I need, when I need it, and my work area shrinks from small to impossible-to-locate when I'm actually attempting to put a page together. And forget just tossing a few things in a tote to attend a crop--gulp!

Why? Why, why, why can't I get it together??

Answer: Perfectionism? OCD? ADD? Always seeking the latest & greatest? I don't know...*sigh*

Please re-read what you wrote about yourself. Three-four things that keep repeating, can you name them?

1. Knowing (or not knowing) how YOU scrap

2. Organizing YOUR workflow to work for YOU-not focusing on how pretty it looks to others. We all want our space to look awesome especially in the Gallery because it WOWs us when we see a perfectly painted and decorated space. I love the Vintage look but in reality some of these spaces have more Vintage than scrap material. I also like the clean lines and closed cabinets and beautiful large islands BUT I am visual and like to see my stuff so my space will NEVER look like that! Right?

3. I think some are overwhelmed by too much stuff, stuff that is trendy but we don't even use!!

4. Some of us like to reorganize as much or more than scrap!!!!!!

3kidmama--lap space....years ago when I hurt my back and was bedridden my son brought me some scraps from a work site. You can find them in the paneling or back splash section (maybe 4x8) at Lowes or Home Depo.

Some places will cut it to your specific size. There are several different choices. For example one sheet for $17.00 is white and smooth on one side, thin and light enough to put on your lap, on the back side it is riveted like so it won't slip. If it isn't you can solve that by some of that rubber like drawer liner you can adhere to the back. One large sheet could give you several different size work spaces then when you are finished just slip under the bed.

Example, you can cut one 3x3 for your lap, then one 3x5 to fit beside you (where the hubby lays,, LOL)

my scrapstuff is growing and changing so fast. one time everything is organized, but than i buy new things. those won't fit into the old space where there should belong, because it's to small for more stuff, so i start a new place for them.
this continues and soon i am not organized at all again...

I have only participated in the "Organize Your Stash" challenge here at Two Peas. Every time, I get to a certain point with it, then hit a problem area. It moves on to a new week, I still have the problem and drop out. Then because I am not a tidy person, things that were organized get disorganized again.

I've read books and read blogs about organizing and gotten some great ideas but I guess it's because no one scraps the same way every time that there is never one solution for everyone.
Absolutely, same here! I've had more struggles with organizing my scrap space than I've ever had in planning a LO. I've seen great ideas online and at 2Peas that weren't practical for me due to the way I scrap. I like to keep my embellies out in the open so I can see what I have which encourages me to use up the stuff; yet I detest clutter. I plan to do another purge in the near future and start re-organizing, little by little. If a certain organizational method doesn't work for me, then I'll change it. For me, organizing is an ongoing process and I think to a certain extent (as far as my scrapbooking goes), it always will be. I'm bookmarking this thread for ideas!

Thanks for that idea! I'd thought about plywood, but didn't think about paneling or ready-made back splash materials. I have one square MM magnetic mat and I've told hubby I'd LOVE a lap "desk" that would accommodate 2 of them so I can work on double page layouts side by side. Right now I use a 15" sq glass mat which is fine for making cards or even a 12x12 layout, but it's frustrating to try to line up papers with just half of each paper on the glass and the outside half falling into the blankets - everything shifts and slides off before I can get it tacked down.

Sliding the lap table under the bed is another great idea - as is making a desk board for dh's side. I already use his half of the bed to pile up tools, but then I"m fishing for them in the folds of the covers. It's a good thing my ATG is BIG and RED!

Those are really practical and helpful suggestions, thank you for posting them!

This is one of those things I've been thinking about a lot lately. I have a fair size room,13'x 15' that has gone through many transformations. This last time I organized I asked myself why couldn't I seem to get a handle on my stuff. I came to the realization that it didn't matter how big my room was whether it be a closet, cupboard or gigantic full size basement, as long as I gave myself the freedom to just keep buying more and not get rid of or use the things I had, there would be no space big enough to handle it.
I think I need to try to balance the buying with the using so that things always have a home and if there is an overflow, there has to be a time to use things until I have the space again. CHA time is really bad for me so I usually go into a no buying time for three months before CHA and push myself to create as much as possible with the old stuff even if its greeting card packages to give away. Our church just now started an invite to scrapbookers to donate cards that they can give along with welcoming meals or gifts. So I'm thinking that's a good way to use up old stuff and get it out of the house. I'm one of those people that needed to keep buying new storage units to hold everything. I promised myself that I will not buy more storage, what I have has to be enough already.

My scrap room works for me now, but here are the lessons I learned along the way.

1. It's okay to reorganize. My life changes, my needs change, my focus changes. I prefer not to stamp lately, so stamping supplies do not need to be front and center.

2. It's okay to spring clean. I clear out the clutter in the rest of the house, it's okay to do the same in my scraproom. It doesn't matter if it cost $19.99. If I'm not using it, or don't like it, get rid of it. I've purged DVD's, exercise equipment, old tv's. Scrap supplies are just the same.

3. What works today, may not work tomorrow. And that's okay. When my kid was a baby, I could move his bouncer seat in while I scrapped. At 3, that doesn't work for us, so I've changed the closet into a desk for him with his paper, and such. Now he can craft with mommy, but not in my way.

4. The most beautiful, well organized scrap spaces may be disastrous in my hands. That's okay. I am not Noell. I am not Shimelle. I am not Scrappy Jedi. I have my own needs. I can take what I like about their systems and apply it to me if it applies. It's the same as life. I do not dance like Noell or Shimelle. And that's okay. I like to scrap chronological. I like to find brads by color. I like all my twine together. I like my washi tape out where I can grab it, loosely sorted into "girly" and "boyish" categories. I like my markers easy access on my desk in a big jar, sorted loosely by the rainbow. Not everything is by color, not everything is by type, and Seen and Noted is the only thing by manufacturer.

5. The desk makes a difference. For me, the biggest difference. I am now on my 5th or 6th (maybe 7th desk). This one right now is perfect for me. It's a handmedown table. It's already scratched up, and already has a few stains. It's wide enough for my eClips and laptop to be pushed back, still in reach, but leaving enough room for 12" paper and space around them. It's short enough for my feet to touch the ground, but still allow for my office chair. And I like the oak color. There was always something wrong with every other desk I had to work on. And so I struggled, fighting against my natural rhythms.

6. It's not how I do one page. It's how I do the majority of my pages. If something starts bugging me, like having to reach down for my 6x6 pad storage, I move it. I don't have to reorganize everything. Just switch my xyron down and the 6x6 up. And now it works again.

I have watched many video and read so many magazines its ridiculous. The main problem I have with these videos/magazines is that the examples and sulotionsthat they provide are either for people who 1) Have an entire room or even closet dedicated for their supplies or 2) The pretty little baskets that fir this or that just right have a price listed under them that is just not currently attainable to me.

I have a small corner in my tiny living room in my tiny apartment. I think all of the organization tips that have actually worked for me are ones that I have learned through trail and error. I really want to be organized, I really want to be able to say I want this here and know where "this" is however without the space or money I am stuck dgging each time I need something.

I think I still struggle because a) I keep buying more (not just quantity, but new types of things), and so outgrow my current solution, and because my style of scrapping has evolved and my storage solution hasn't kept up with it.

I have a "split" space, meaning my printer and cameo are in one room of the house while my workspace and supplies are in another. Something always seems out of place since I shuffle from one area to the next to get a page done. I would love to consolidate everything into one room but for now, that's just not possible.
