The post about someone not wanting their family to see two peas posts after they are gone has me thinking. Do you have a secret you would not want others to find out after you are gone? Obviously, you wouldn't post it here, just yes or no. I have thought about it and can't think of any.

My BFF has strict instructions to barge into my grieving family's house and run swiftly away with my little box of "unmentionables". She is not to stop and make polite conversation, she is supposed to get in and make a clean getaway. she can come back later to offer condolences.

Yes, one secret. I've never spoken of it anywhere, and never will.

Now, as to stuff in a drawer? Meh, it's all pretty "vanilla" - maybe it'll take their minds off of whatever caused my death, give them a laugh or shock. At least they won't be crying...

My "drawer" has broken contents that I'm too embarrassed to put in the trash. I'm afraid the trash collectors will drop it at the end of the driveway or something.

Save your next fast food bag, put the broken contents in there and drop it in a gas station garbage can.

Me...no.

My son may be shocked to find out that his dad is my 2nd husband. Dh prefers to keep that secret, which is completely odd to me.

I've never told my son, because there has been no reason. So, while it might seem like a secret if he discovers it on his own, it really isn't. It's just a non-issue to me.

Nothing really major I don't think. However, it is funny that you asked this because for some reason, I remember this morning about a stack of letters that I saved. Thing is, I don't remember where they are. There were a bunch of letters from an old boyfriend that I almost married. These are pre-internet, texting, email, etc. days. We wrote letters and calls once or twice a week. Long distance was expensive back then. We saw each other most weekends. Anyway, I saved those letters. DH knows about him but I would prefer to toss those letters because I would not want him to question why I saved them. I saved them for no other reason than I saved a lot of letters. Actually, these are in a stack with other letters from friends. So, one of these days, I need to figure out where I put these letters. LOL I also have a bunch of DS's dad. Those are in a box that I was going to give to DS one day.

I understand if you don't want to explain more, but I guess I'm curious. Does that mean your son has no idea you were married before, or that he is thinking someone else is his father?

My BFF knows everything about me - everything - I have no secrets from her and in life in general I don't have any secrets, but there is something in my past that I don't share with anyone (not really a secret but just something I don't think everyone needs to know) -

The way I look at it, when I am gone, what difference will it make...I'll be gone so it won't matter

They're secrets for a reason. I plan to die with mine.

As for the drawer, I frankly don't care if people find them. When you're with someone in the military, even if its the reserves, you gotta have something for that alone time

My mom has already seen my 'do me' underwear as she puts it I hope she gets the shock of her life if she finds my drawer!

You know, everyone always jokes that their BFF is to rush in and toss the toys and videos and everything else that would be terrible for their parents to find. Well, when my best friend passed away she didn't make things so easy for me! I love her dearly, but this girl didn't make things any easier for me given the situation. Imagine an Ikea Expedit used as clothing storage, and in between layers of clothes, stuck on the sides, etc. were vibrators of all sorts. In her closet was her purse with dental dams. Another school bag had KY. Her night stand had all of these Dr. type drawings of how to do all sort of exercises down there. She had all sorts of toys scattered throughout. For days as I cleaned I kind of had to laugh between the tears as I'd empty a bag or go to pull something out and find that I was holding a vibrating plastic piece! Remember, 1 box. Keep it all together!

I have a distant cousin who is an only child
and is adopted. He doesn't know it. Both the
aunt and uncle have passed away and I always
wondered if his adoption papers were in their
safe deposit box. Uncle Paul once told their
neighbor and he was a mean man and every time
he got mad at uncle Paul he would tell him
that he was going to tell his son that he
was adopted. Uncle Paul lived in fear. Always
made my family sad.

I have a journal that I started when I was a
freshman in college. I stopped writing in it
when I met and married DH. It has lots of
heartache type stuff from old boyfriends.
I should shred it to keep anyone from
reading it after I'm gone. Nothing sinful or
anything but just personal stuff.

Everyone has secrets. And in my life, there is at least one other person besides myself who knows mine. I don't really want my secrets out, but if the people who know them think they need to tell them, then so be it. I'll be gone and what harm would it really do?

Lmao! I worry about that too but my DH just decided to RECYCLE a few of the boxes things came in (was cleaning out closets, we don't have kids! ) and you are thinking "no biggie! Who is going to look in the Smiths recycle can?" Right? I went to put out the last of it and sitting right on top were all the boxes for the garbage guy to see. Then I noticed a bag FULL of used solo cups. I haven't bought any red solo cups in over 6 months! I'm pretty sure one of the teenagers in my neighborhood had a party and stashed the evidence in MY recycle bin. Right next to the empty toy packages! we'll see which one blushes when I talk to them!

Have to share a story re the "drawer"

My friend and her dh had a drawer with a bunch of toys. She admitted it was a bit of a mess (stuff just tossed in there, loose batteries rolling around etc)

They hired a cleaning service and next time they opened the drawer, all the toys were all sorted out and tidy and arranged in size order

Oh the stories cleaners could tell!

Why give info to kids that can't help and could only possibly make them insecure.

I have to ask why would this information cause insecurity in a child? I found out when I was 7 my Dad was married before. It never bothered me. In fact, it made me realize my Dad was only human, he made mistakes too.
