Our stove is on its last leg. My husband and I are researching stove brands. I looked at Lowes, and the GE and Fridgedair brands got really good reviews. Anybody have a gas stove that they love? Or is there a brand to stay away from? We are looking in the $450-600 range.

I've only used one gas stove so I'm not sure how it stacks up. One thing that the sales person said that has stuck with us is that the closer the circular part that the flame come out of is to the grate the more efficent the stove will be.
Our is DCS by fisher & paykel and we got it at pacific sales (not sure if it is just a local chain).

I recently got a frigidaire gas stove that is standard size but has 2 ovens. It's a piece of junk and they outsource warranty repairs and take no responsibility for them.

The Repair person warned us to try to use only the front burners because the covering on the control panel is plastic, not glass. Well that's impossible, so now the plastic covering is buckling. The warranty doesn't cover cosmetic damage.

we have a kitchen aid that is great. it is a little more than you are wanting to spend. maybe shop around and see what sales are coming up. The home shows on TV talked about when people redo their kitchen they get a great deal online (seems like almost 1/2 price) not sure how they do that?

We have the GE gas stove/oven that came with our house. It's builder-grade so it can't have been terribly expensive. I like it pretty well - the broil is not great but I understand that's typical of gas ovens.

Ours is Dacor and I especially love it.

Our last one was KA and I thought I loved it until I tried this new one.

I have a GE Monogram stovetop. It's about 8 years old and I love it.

Before I bought this stovetop, I gave a great deal of thought to:

1. Burner configuration - I used to do a lot of big batch cooking. I wanted to be able to have my 22qt sauce pot cooking while I used the other burners for other dishes.

2. BTUs and how LOW can they go - I don't use a wok very often, but I simmer sauce and soups frequently. I was way more concerned with how low all the burners could go than I was with how high just the middle one would cook.

3. Relighting flame - I wanted to be sure that if the flame went out, the burner would automatically relight at the same intensity.

4. Sealed top - No way for liquids or junk to get under the burners

Like I said, I absolutely love my stovetop 8 years later. I can't wait to finish redoing my kitchen so I can replace my wall oven.

I have a Fridgedair. it is a basic model but it is maybe 10 yrs old. I like it a lot. It even has the storage drawer in the bottom.
