...what would you ask?

Not questions like those that inspire her weekly adventures, but if you could be Oprah or Ellen or whomever. (And yes, I realise question one in both of those cases would be 'who are you and why the heck are you on my show?' but I didn't mean them literally!)

I promise there is a reason for this question, but that's all I can say!

Someone asked what Glitter Girl's kryptonite was a little bit ago on here, and I think that would be a good question to ask her.

I want to hear about her education and how she ended up in scrapbooking.

I also want to hear how she met and fell in love with her husband . I'm sappy like that.

And does she wear high leather boots similar to Wonder Woman?

I would want to know what she keeps on her desk and uses most frequently.

Also, how she approaches photographing her life. How many photos she takes, why she takes the photos she does, etc. Any photo tips would be awesome.

I would want to know just how much time she puts into her weekly GG episodes...behind the scenes prep, outtakes, editing, uploading etc. It seems like a heckuva lot of work to me, and I'd love to know how she makes it work!

This struck me yesterday when I saw episode 67...SIXTY SEVEN... of GG, and realized how many hours she would have put into these in total.

If you could only pick ONE scrapper to follow/be inspired by, who would that be??

Fun question! So many things I'd want to ask Glitter Girl...

What do you eat for breakfast?
What would be your favorite day off from saving the sb world?
What do you miss most about the US? (besides family).
If you could have any Glitter Girlmobile in the world, what would it be?
What's your guilty pleasure of TV shows?

OK, I'm bordering on stalker status so I'll quit now... Maria

I'd love to hear more about your huge trip through Asia with The Boy. How you decided to just pick up and go on such a huge trip, how you chose where you went, where you liked best?

I'd love to know where you'd go if you could do a trip like that again, and why?

I'd love to know more about your dance classes and what style dance you do or like best.

Besides dance and scrapbooking, what do you do for fun?

I'm curious about the story behind your name, if there is one. I love name stories.

Lots of other questions, but I think I'm too nosy sometimes. As a total Anglo-phile, book loving, story-telling scrapbooker, though, I'd just love to be the "Oprah-type" person who'd get to chat with you. I've talked about your videos and your blog so often, my husband teases me about "the scrapbooking girl you want to be friends with" and he's more than a little right .

What has been your favorite scrapbook adventure so far?
Which kind of dillemas are your favorites?
Batman has a batmobile, what's your glittermobile?
I don't think I've ever heard the tale of how you came from the US to UK, care to share?
What made you want to start doing these videos?
Is it hard scrapping upside down?
When you scrapbook on your own do you scrap differently?

I think most people are fascinated that you make a living by scrapbooking and are grateful for all the time and effort you put into your classes, videos, blog posts, questions answered on the message boards, etc, etc. It's obvious that you love scrapbooking and teaching. I'd love to know who influenced you when you first started scrapping and who inspires you today. I'm looking forward to getting the answers to all these questions the peas are asking.

Glitter Girl (imagine this in an Oprah-voice)

"When you first started the series, did you imagine in your wildest dreams that it would become a global hit and garner a cult-like following? I mean, people schedule their lives around your videos on Wednesday, generate blogs and message board discussions around your latest ideas, and clamor to meet you in person. How does that push your series forward? How do you respond to the queries and accolades?"

Glitter Girl -

(I'm hearing me ask this in my best English accent)

What is outside your window?

At the end of the day, how do you relax?

Your hands are always so neat and tidy and nails so lovely, how do you keep it like that?

I know that for me, after a day of scrapping, I have at least a few paper cuts and the other day I actually caught my hand in my guillotine cutter (yes, I am clumsy like that, but no worries, just a little bit of a deeper than paper cut). Anyway, my hands look like crap most of the time!

How did you begin scrapbooking?
Did you study art at the university?
How did you become a professional scrapbooker?
How do you feel about being a celebrity?
I notice that you rebuff American words and spellings, why?
Do you have plan to start your own line of scrapbook products? If so, what market would you target?

I would ask her if there are plans for children and if so, does she see her scrapping style changing once she is scrapping pages of her own child {children}. I would also like to know where she would like most to visit in the USA and hope it would be somewhere near where I live! And I'll end with does she have any plans to teach any classes in the USA? No, I have one more. Would you please bring scrapping back to QVC with your own line of scrap goodies??!!??

I am Ellen, well not the one you were thinking of, but one who worked in journalism for a long time. What I would ask you now is tempered by the fact that on one of your posts a month or so ago you answered a lot of the questions I would have asked, like how you got into scrapbooking and what led you to transplant youself to Great Britain. And you have answered some of my other questions, like what's your favorite color combo, on a few of your videos.

So, I guess I would ask you:

1. What advice would you give someone who is brand new to scrapbooking?

2. What advice would you give me? I have been scrapbooking for more than 10 years, and I prefer to draw inspiration from not the dominant but a less dominant color in my photos, and I prefer to scrap lots of photos. Do you think that's limiting me?

3. Also, since I am not the Ellen you were thinking of, I don't have much of a budget for new stuff. What would you do if you had to use five-year-old stuff to embellish with?

4. What do you like to do when you are not scrapbooking?

5. Do you ever think you would live in the United States again?

That's five questions I might start with. If I was interviewing you, there would be a lot of give and take, that is my questions might change depending on your answers.

I would ask Glitter Girl a silly question I've always personally been curious about, it has absolutely nothing to do with scrapbooking, but I always find myself wondering when I watch your videos, sorry if it's too personal ...

How frequently do you get manicures? and do you book them as a business expense . . . I would!! LOL!! You're nails as always so gorgeous! I have to ask

1) How many scrap related stalkers do you have now? Lol
2) Do you ever tire of scrapbooking?
3) How old were you when you started scrapping and what supplies did you use?
4) What is the weirdest thing you ever scrapped (or photographed)?
5) Not a question but just a thought: You are AWESOME and I bet Ellen would be truly interested in all of these questions. She would certainly get some good ratings if she had you on the show since all the Peas would be watching

What a fun thread ! Here are a couple of my many questions :

Are there certain photos or types (subjects) of photos that are more difficult for you to scrap? Why and what do you do to overcome it?

If you had to pick 2 favourite albums amongst the 57 or so that you have done so far, which ones would they be and why?

What would you love to see as the next major trend in scrapbooking?

What do you hope never to see as an emerging trend ?

I would ask Glitter Girl to predict what scrapbooking will look like in ten years and twenty years from now. I'd also ask if the name Shimelle is a mashup of the name Michelle: enquiring minds want to know.

I'd ask if ten years ago, you could have ever seen yourself making a living from scrapbooking and taking all the talents you have (drama/acting ability, years of teaching) to fuse them into your Glitter Girl persona.

I would ask where you find inspiration, what do you do when your mojo is nowhere to be found, and what is the best advice you could give to another scrapbooker, regardless of whether they are a beginner or experienced. Do freebies and DT comps play into your choices of subject matter and materials used or do you just do what feels right in the moment and not worry too much about following DT rules or contracts?

Has there ever been a time when you took a break from scrapbooking (almost everyone I know has at some point). If you did, what brought you back to it and how long did your hiatus last? How did you know when it was time to reboot and did you re-enter the sb world with all new goodies or going thru your previous stash?

I would also ask what is your favorite quote (from a movie, book, or fortune cookie), and I'd ask you to tell your favorite joke.

What a fun question!

I would ask how she has such a fun/talented group of scrapbooking friends in real life? I mean how did you meet? You talk about getting together to scrap, and that sounds like such fun. However, where I live I don't know any other people who still scrapbook. I would like to get some suggestions on how to find/create a group like this too.

I would also like to know what her favorite book is (as I am also an English teacher this is always interesting to me).

What a great idea, GG! A few questions from me would include:

1. What ten items would you bury in a time capsule to be discovered 500 years from now (assuming even perishables would be preserved!)

2. If scrapbooking/photography didn't exist as an option for memory keeping, how would you do it? Video taping? Audio recordings? A written journal? Stone carvings?

3. Having done so much international traveling, what have you found to be things that are common threads among all groups of people? What binds us no matter what our culture? (Other than food and love, of course!)

4. Though one may be utterly happy, it is human nature to desire more, strive for more. GG leads a blessed life, but what do you still long for? For yourself, for the world, doesn't matter. Anything!

So many great questions... I don't know if this one's been asked but...

If you couldn't be a superhero of scrapping prowess anymore, nor an English teacher like your alter ego.. What would you do?

If you lost your Glitter super powers what other power would take over?

Have you ever done a page without looking at the products you used beforehand? Meaning just randomly grabbed and scrapped?

ooh, there's so many good ones here!

I would also like to know what The Boy's hobby is-- also, does he end up assisting GG with the scrapbook pages by giving his opinion, or does he say 'oh, that's nice' without really 'getting' it, like so many of our significant others do?? (I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this one, but maybe not.)

and, how the heck does Glitter Girl scrapbook upside down?!? That must be one of the super powers, lol!

Has Glitter Girl ever lost her ceative mojo and quit scrapping for a period of time, or is endless scrapping mojo one of her superpowers?

and I really like this question that Summerbellies posed: 'Have you ever done a page without looking at the products you used beforehand? Meaning just randomly grabbed and scrapped?'

Lots of great questions here.... Here are a few I would ask...

1. What makes a story scrapable? (And is that a word?) There are so many events and happenings in a lifetime - how do you choose which ones to scrap?

2. For most people, scrapbooking is the hobby but for you it's a living. What are your hobbies?

3. Coke or Pepsi?

4. Do you travel within the UK much? Or are you a strictly a zone two-er?

5. Becky Higgins' tag line is to cultivate a good life. How do you cultivate a good life?

I may have more later...

Oh my goodness! I think some of you need to line up as Oprah's replacement, for sure!

Just one little thing to clarify: we are looking for questions for Glitter Girl and not Shimelle specifically. I know that seems weird but it will make sense eventually. but I just wanted to mention it as a lot of the answers to the more shimelle questions are already out there on either the board or my blog. Or the paperclipping roundtable. Perhaps I need to make some sort of FAQ list of those answers! (the short version: I came to the uk as a grad student, I met the boy in a record store, I have always spelt like a Brit as I was quite an Anglophile even as a child and my teachers were okay with it - my mother says she knew by the time I was five that I would move to England- and as I studied English and taught English in England it is a bit of a requirement, these days I do more hip-hop than anything else but also take jazz, contemporary, and tap every week and try to get in some ballet for technique despite being way too short to have true ballet lines, I don't have a tv but am a big whedon fan and prefer the current dr, through the looking glass, I've been to 48 states but I've never counted how many counties in the uk - quite a lot of England but I have failed thus far with Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. I think that hit most of the questions??)

Anyway, any other questions for Glitter Girl, please ask over the next few days as we'll be putting this into use next week. Thank you!!!

I would like to hear your thought regrading supply management and organization- what you've tried and what works for you now.
