with so much in the way of supplies I really am pushing myself to use stuff or give/sell it.

I find that making my "kits" both page and mini books is really helping to use up all that hoarded stuff....

what I find very interesting is the motivation it is giving me and mojo working here.

I cruse around scrapbook galleries, and even purchased sketch fusion and boy what motivators are out there...

It just takes more time to coordinate and put them in plastic bags but in the long run will be a no brainer when it's time to scrap!!

edt:o taking a break for nsd..just saw something to scrap lift today Had all the supplies out already..lifted from s popular kit club..oh me so bad!!

Have you seen the faux LOAD challenge thread. A new challenge each day in May to get us scrapping. I'm planning on making some kits too that I can grab one and get going!

I do basically the same thing that you are doing. I started before I had ankle surgery and knew I would want to sit and scrap. It worked so well, it's my main way to scrap now. I'm always prepared for a crop or an evening of no stress scrapping.
I'm so much more productive, have done over 100 pages already this year.

I sort of did that and loved it for about 6 months but I recently tore them all apart and reorganized by type and got 7 layouts done last night. I think whatever is working is awesome - I guess I just get the itch to reorganize about every 6 months or so.

P. S. I recommend making 10 and then using them before you make the other 90 so you know you are putting in what you are going to want and need.

Just a note from someone who did that very same thing and loved it for a time.

So do you have photos already for the 100 kits? I make kits too but if I don't have photos, I just can't seem to figure it out.

I would love to do this. So what would you put in each kit? Would each kit just be for one layout?

I don't think this would work for me because when I make kits, they are huge, so jam packed and of course I use only a small part of what is in there. Everything left over would be out of commission, not usable or findable for other layouts. Not sure that makes sense.

I am doing 2 page 12x12 layouts.

I basically scrap lift using some of the same colors and basic sketch for photo and embellishment placement. I may even cut some of the papers if ie using banners, or include some boarder punched strips.

Using stickers that I can add dimension buy using foam tape, also goes in the mix. I add twine, ribbon, or some washi tape.

Once I have gotten to this point, I will go assembly line again and add thematic stickers or titles all which I have in storage boxes and pop them in the sleeves.

This seems to work so far. i will try and upload some kits that I have put together.

I have been using alot of old stuff mixed in with the new..I am pleased with the mix!!

thanks for the comments

I bet I could to. The thought of handling all that scrapping paper and not doing a layout, just making kits is overwhelming, but I am actually taking a break from scrapping, so I should.

Sounds amazing! I'm sure I would have enough supplies to do the same but like JanGram - I'm not sure this would work for me since I like my photos to coordinate and wouldn't know which photos I would be using. I like to make my kit as I go.

Can't wait to see your progress! Good luck!

What a great goal! I'm thinking about doing a small version of this. I'm thinking of maybe putting together 10 kits and work my way through them. That way I can use whatever is left over in new kits. Let us know when you make it to 100!

100 kits is a great goal.
I once made up 50 using photos I had printed.

I go through and pull paper, c/stock and any embellishments I think i may use.
Then I go and find sketches that I like and include them as well.

I still add things when I actually sit down to work with them but with so much prep done I find it easy to get started. I must admit I still have a few kits not complete because the photos haven't yet inspired me but they are still there waiting!

I need to do something like this. I haven't scrapped in months and maybe something like this would jump start my creativity.

I hope you post some pictures or something of your kits when you finish putting them together.

I did this making 25 kits... Some kits could provide 6 pages or a mini album, etc. I like the scrapbook generation sketch books so those serve as some inspiration. I found a large magazine container at M's and the page kits stand up nicely in it.

I love the idea but would have to start with the photos. That's just the way I scrap

Good luck!

I kind of do this too when I have a scrap weekend planned. Not near 100 but I usually have 30-40 made. Sometimes I think I like making the kits more than completing the pages.

I don't put embellishments in my kits though. Unless I have something very specific that goes with the paper or photos. I start with pics, find a sketch or layout inspiration, match patterned paper and then cardstock. I make sure I always put a note with the date/event info and sometimes title ideas if they pop in my head while I'm assembling.

It still takes me hours to make a page though even with all that prep work!

I've been thinking of doing something similar myself. I want to make kits with my existing supplies but I'd like to go through a major purge first. Right now, I'm overwhelmed by what I have. I don't have as much as I've seen others have but it is still too much for me. It still won't stop me from buying though

Anyway, I plan on purging then making kits with what's left then if there's anything left over after making my kits, I'll get rid of that as well.

Hopefully that will help me get back into scrapping more.

Good luck and let us know how you're getting on!

well, housework go in the way today!! Last night I spent a long time sorting out the patterned paper..whow I sure didn't think I still had so MUCH!!

any way I am up to about 30 kits. My hubby is the tech of the family and won't be home until wed this week so maybe on thursday I will have some photos to upload.

I too am using many layouts from the scrapbook generations sketches and even from their new photo fusion.

I have found that my old cosmo cricket "wanted" and basic grey seem to go together well!! and some old k&co embellies blend in too.

The colors seem to have recycled back in what we now have as snap, and simple stories. who would have guessed huh?

I know I have a ways to go to meet my goal but I am keeping up with great mojo too.

Thanks for the vote of confidence and I'll keep posting my progress..

I've done 18 kits in the past month, photo, mats, embellishments a sketch and sometimes even cut the papers I want to use. I'm a slow scrapper, no matter what, but it s great to have everything premade and I can easily finish 1-2 layouts a week, depends on the time I have.

I've been doing this for my two granddaughters! I started out doing holiday themed kits for them, adding paper, embellishments, ribbon, anything that would match that theme. They are ages 8, and 9, so this gives them something to scrap without letting them trash my scraproom looking for items. Works out great.

I don't understand kits ahead of time? I can't understand how do you put a package of something into a kit and then leave it in there until you get around to scrapbooking and using that kit.

I would not like looking for my products in kits when I wanted to use something that I put into that kit. That would make scrapbooking irritating for me. And just putting papers together doesn't make sense to me since most of my matching stuff is already together.

But maybe I am missing something. I might try it once and see if I can make a kit and then go from there. But if it helps you to get more done, then I say do what works for you.

I do pre-do my pictures and put them into the sheet protectors where they go in my album.

If I waited to have photo's in hand I'd never get much done...just my way of things.

The kit or half done layout type of system works well for me. I feel more productive, it gets me going through all my supplies over and over again.

this helps when I am making my kits because I'll remember supplies that could be included.

As for placing whole lot's of "stuff" in these kits, i try and do the initial start with as little as possible, therefor not having supplies out of my sight kwim?

The best part about all this is...If by chance I have photos with not all the "just right" color combo..I have actually placed the right match right over the areas in the pre-made kits that were half done!!

Sounds like I am wasteful? I think of the mountains of paper I already have, couldn't make a dent even if I tried, lol!

Any way I just have so much much fun with the creations part of this hobby.

btw my husband is always reminding me "when ARE you going to put photo's in those layouts!!!

this is a hobby that makes me soooo happy and this is a good thing for me

Question: are you waiting to get 100 kits together before you start scrapping?

Reason I ask is that I make up kits for crop weekend and just made up about a dozen for LOAD. It is super hard for me not to want to crop as I put them together. Also if I get too many where I include photos I start making duplicates. So I find it's better for me to keep a list of things I want to crop and mark it off as I make the kit.

Maybe you are just putting papers and embellies together. That would make it easier and hopefully use up some old stuff.

Too funny - that's true for me as well. I print photos online and when they arrive I kit them up. But as of now I have too many kits made because those embellishments that are in the kits aren't available for other layouts. Ah well.

the true meaning of "kitting" in my vocab is just gathering the supplies, and/or actually sticking things down.

I keep any pre-finished layouts in albums,,just cause it makes it easier to go through. Then some of the kits needing more work done/supplies are in 2 gal zip locks.

yes sometimes keeping track of all of them maybe be a bit difficult, but I do think in the long run for me it works.

Ok about photos, I do have a stash of some printed out. In some other cases I may have to develop and print (or crop).

So in the true meaning of the word Scrapbooking, I am still "kitting" and very happy..when I add photos then it would be true scrapbooking...btw I do make mini albums with photos an all in between all...

I am big on mixing old and new supplies too, so this sounds like a very worthwhile effort! Although I don't pre-make kits, I do make an effort to mix old and new after grabbing a large quantity of photos - say 50 or more...then when I have sorted what I plan to use for this big photo batch out of my huge stash, the scrappin' comes along alot easier.
