Welcome to June on the Young Scrappers thread! It's officially summer this month - which means we are more relaxed, there are lots of photo opportunities, and it's a great time to get caught up on those projects

Who are the Young Scrappers? We are a group of "young" 20-something to 30-something year old girls who created a group to share our interest in scrapbooking! We take the "young" part lightly - it's all about how young you feel. Feel free to join in the chat! Just post an intro so we know who you are. And post links to your layouts here - we love to share our work & leave some praise!

-------------------------------

We are continuing our challenge for the year:

For the Pinspiration Challenge, we collaborated to create a list of 52 challenges - one for each week this year! The challenges were based off of layouts we had pinned on Pinterest or bookmarked online. It is a way to use some of that inspiration we are constantly pinning on Pinterest!

There really are no rules with this challenge! It is more just a way to motivate each other to scrapbook. Choose challenges from the list that you feel inspired by, create something, and share it with us! The goal is to see how many challenges you can complete in one year.

Here is the link to the challenge list to download: challenge sheet

And here is the Pinterest board with all the challenges and sample layouts: Pinspiration challenge on Pinterest

Every month, we will have a hostess to keep us motivated. For May, our hostess is ME (MONICA)! Here are the details for this month:

Part 1: Scrap Bingo

Here is how it will work:
-You must complete one whole row, column, or diagonal; all items must be present on your project.

-Each time you complete a row/column/diagonal, post a link to your project here, and be sure to put a note to me in bold that it is for the challenge and specify which ones you used. Also be sure to check the "Young Scrappers June challenge" box on the 4th step of uploading in the gallery!

-For each row/column/diagonal you complete, you will get one entry into the prize drawing at the end of the month! I will keep a tally of everyone's points in the first post of the thread.

Part 2: Praise
I've noticed that many people, myself included, have not been praising as much as we used to. Also, a lot of you haven't been posting your projects here! So this part of the challenge is to encourage us to post & praise again.

For every praise you leave on another Young Scrapper's projects, I will give you one entry into the drawing at the end of the month.

How will I keep track? I am going to go through the challenge submissions on my Two Peas blog to tally up comments. So it is very important that when you upload to the gallery, please check the box on step 4 of the upload process (member challenges) for "YOUNG SCRAPPERS June challenge"!!

The Prize
The prize will be a gift certificate to the store of your choosing. There will be one for scrap bingo and one for the praise challenge! So the more you participate, the more chances you will get to win

I still can't believe it's June already! But super excited that summer is starting. Love summer, but I could do without the extreme heat & humidity...

~~Happy happy birthday, Melissa!~~

Loni- I would love to scrap after work! I should be home around 2:30 at the latest.

Thank you to the girls that have said Happy Birthday! Still 22 for another 17 min haha

It's a wonderful, sunny day here in vancouver so I am happy. I have the day off so I am going to run to the states to pick up a package and one for Jonny then go shopping I think. Not sure if Jonny planned anything for tonight - feel like him and my rich boss planned a surprise bc she text him early in the morning

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MELISSA!!!!!

Sounds like you have a fun day planned. Hope you enjoy everything, shopping and maybe surprise. Woot woot.

Sorry I've been away for so long. I've been in a scrappy funk lately. I did start a Disney paper bag mini for my friend's birthday next week, and hopefully it'll be done tonight or tomorrow night. So that's a start, right? I mean I hadn't laid a finger on a pair of scissors since the first week of May. It's a bad funk. It has slowly come back to me but not quite. I've been watching a lot of YouTube and roaming 2Peas. Joined another group to get the gears turning again. How do you girls get rid of the Scrappy Blues?

I'll be trying to catch up with last months chat this week. Hope everyone is enjoying their day, especially Melissa.

Monica, I'm project lifeing right now why Gem's asleep, (and big kids are at my moms - awesome!!) I'll try to get back again this afternoon, too.

Ruthie, sometimes I feel like a pokie pea! haha! Some projects just seem to go so slow! I decided to join a 50 projects challenge. Ya, ambitious but I'm going to be pretty lenient. For example, organizing PL pics today, I might count it as 2.

Let us know how the party goes if there is one, Melissa Have fun shopping.

Hey gals! Happy Monday!

Hope your weeks have gotten off to a good start. I spent the morning in court for work. I hate Monday morning court!

Monica, Steph, Loni: watch your mailboxes! Goodies headed your way! I have tracking on them so let me know if it doesn't arrive by next Monday.

I am so ready for my Scraptastic PL kit to arrive. I want to get June started (since I am so far behind)!

Great layouts Monica. Really liking all the washi tape. If you can believe it, I only have one washi tape. Wish I have gotten into the trend but I haven't. I love all the washi at the store but never buy it. I'm weird. LOL

No surprise but its okay

Jonny got me a ring, but had to they it sized so no pics yet. I had the day off so I just did some errands and relaxed. Jonny came home from with work flowers and we had sushi and drove pinkberry for my "cake"

Sunday is our 2 year anniversary so we are going away to Vancouver island to a place called Ucluelet. Maybe try to surf but mostly relax I think

Sorry it took me so long to post your challenge! I'll give you an extra week or 2 in July to finish it, though

Melissa - I'm sure that Jonny is a great teacher. Do you have a waterproof camera to take pictures?

Loni - Sorry you're having a bad day. Dali woke me up at 5:45, so I'm a zombie right now. Maybe start the June challenge that Monica posted. Bingo is always fun.

Monica - This is a great challenge. I can't wait to get started after I finish the mini album. Come onnnn B-7. LOL

Thanks guys, I hardly slept so I was feeling sorry for myself and being mean to everyone. I still feel poopy but I knew you'd make me feel better. I always feel better when I accomplish something so aftwr 2 hrs cleaning my back hurts but I'm a little happier.

Maybe tonight I'll give myself some scrap time and work on the bingo challenge. I love the idea Monica!

Hi girls!

June already! Have hardly been around during may Can think of a thousand excuses (and they're all true), but that doesn't change the fact that I was a lousy YS participant hardly didn't take any time to scrap either

@ Melissa: Happy belated birthday! Hope you had a great day!

He got you a ring? Like THE ring? Or A ring?

@ Loni: how are you and the little one doing?

By the way love that saying: waking up on the wrong side of bed. Ours is similar: getting out of bed with the wrong leg (or more losely translated: on the wrong foot)

@ Monica: great pages!

I'm off to the gym for 15 minutes of ab training

Ruthie, we have one but it broke while we were in Thailand. Sad but we plan on getting it fixed. We do have a GoPro with waterproof housing so will most like let bring that if we decide to surf.

Loni, oh bummer! Hope your feeling better and got a little more sleep. If no sleep, maybe get some sunshine for a vit d boost? That always makes me feel better!

Dee, not THE ring I'd be making a much bigger deal if that was the case.

Rachel, that's awesome your on their blog. Do you know how they picked you?

Serena, great LOs!

Good afternoon!
I am so darn excited about the challenges this month - I hope you guys like them Feel free to keep posting your projects on the thread (AND check the challenge checkbox so I can count it for the praise challenge) that don't qualify for a challenge! We want to see everything you make!

oh, and YES, any scrap projects count - layouts, cards, mini albums, altered stuff, whatever.

Melissa- Yay for a ring! I wanna see a pic! I had the same thought as Dee - if it was THE ring. But, hey, hopefully someday! I'm jealous of your beach trip. Definitely try surfing! If I was more athletic, I fo sho would.

Dee- It's so good to see you! I see your layouts occasionally on FB, and I am always amazed. You need to post them here!

Loni- Sorry you woke up in a bad mood Hope it's better now! I had the yucky mood yesterday. I think partly from all this rain we're getting. I need some Vitamin D! Yes, get started on the bingo challenge! I'll be around all evening.

Serena- Yay for posting layouts! I'm with you - I need to come up with more creative titles. It's rare that I can think of an interesting title!

Rachel- Got your package today. THANK YOU! It was so fun to open. Even Dinky was interested She said "hey, where's MY treat?!" Awesome about your layout being featured at Scraptastic! You should be on their design team

Ruthie- LOL @ your bingo comment. At first I was like, "huh? B-7?" Took me a second... haha!

Serena, can I bother you to edit your layouts to check the challenge checkbox for "Young Scrappers June"?

The reason I need you guys to check the box, whether or not for a specific challenge, is so that when other YSers leave praise on it, I can count their praise toward the praise challenge!

Melissa, I've been going strong all day, and now finally starting to feel it - ya, going outside did help. LOL, Jonny's comment.

Monica, B has meetings at church! Yay! maybe we can chat.

Serena, you made me smile, welcome to the club of lame-title-namers. I'll be President.

I have a dilemma re: Project Life. I was going to do just a monthly version because I *thought* my life was too boring. So the beginning of the year was pretty boring, but into April & May I have a TON of photos. So I'm thinking I will just keep the slow months a monthly format and do weekly for the busy months ??

@Monica - also love the bingo idea. Will be nice to scrap about summer during these winter months - anyone else loving the Simple Stories I Heart Summer collection?

With Project Life, I'm pretty flexible with regards to number of pages, more if there's more photos, less if there's less photos. So yeah, I'd maybe keep it to monthly but just extend it to more than a two page spread if there's more photos.

Oh and I've also added the layouts to the June challenge.

@Rachel - congrats on the Scraptastic layout! (hmm, did that sound wrong to anyone else?) I love the chevrons you used, were they stamps?

@Loni - it's strange how we as woman feel happier after we've accomplished something. Why can't we be like men and feel happy just sitting around doing nothing?

And def to the lame-titler club! I'll be secretary, I can do minutes!

@Melissa - "we have one but it broke while we were in Thailand", I thought you were still referring to The Ring, lol. Took me a while to realise you were talking about a waterproof camera...

And yay to the whole new scraproom! Sometimes I think I love organising my scrap stuff as much as I do using them.

I'm waiting for Dan to pick me up from campus right now and then we're going to the scooperbowl!! It's an event they have in Boston every year where ice cream companies come together, you pay a flat fee ticket, and then you eat as much ice cream as you can! Supposedly you're supposed to eat as many cups as your age but I doubt that will happen haha. This is my first time going and j am quite excited

Looks like I'm missing out on a ton of fun here! I've been pretty lethargic lately, no motivation to do anything, I really need to change that. Maybe I'll scrap today. I have a couple of pages that need finishing touches and I just need to get them DONE.

Melissa, you've got some great news lately! So cute how he asked you to move in And awesome that you'll get your scrap space too!!

Michelle, That scooperbowl sounds amazing! do they have crazy different ice cream flavors too?

Monica, cute challenges! You're so creative with how you set them up! I'm excited!

Dee, I'm in the same boat, I've been a terrible YS girl lately.

Rach! Congrats on being featured They chose such an adorable LO to feature too, Millie looks huggable as always

...annnd back to chat! hello ladies! I had a great day today. Knocked out a huge pile of papers on my desk that needed special attention, we had a surprise luncheon catered at work (yum!), and it turned out to be beautiful outside. Nice weather puts me in a good mood

Melissa > That really sucks! Wonder what's going on with her... so weird. Just from an outsider's perspective, it sounds like you'd almost be better off finding another family. Not trying to tell you what to do, though!

Christina > Cheer up, buttercup! IT'S SUMMER BREAK! The sun is shining, almost pool weather, lazy days of summer. Maybe a little scrapping will put you in the mood. You should join the scrap party on Sunday - miss seeing you!

Michelle > That sounds sooo awesome! I am an ice cream freak. My latest obsession is those self-service frozen yogurt places. Take lots of pics! Can't wait to see your layouts & glad you like the challenge!

Serena > I totally forgot that it's winter down there! How weird to think about. Hey, maybe the challenge & scrapping summer photos will prevent the winter blues And, yeah, I think I'm going to take your tip about Project Life and just do as few or as many pages as I feel necessary for that month. There are no rules, right?!

I would live to hang out on Sunday with you ladies but I don't know how to get to the chat room. Is there a link somewhere?

hello June YS thread Wish I could join Sunday's party but life is preeetty busy lately. I feel so out of the loop with YS now :'( haven't been sleeping well, but i finally organized a dedicated scrap space in the new place so i hope i can get a lot of scrapping done now and join in all the fun~

Melissa~ sorry to hear about work, maybe she's having a personal issue and doesn't want you to be too involved with the drama? Dunno, just hoping for the best for you!

Hodge~ you're on summer vacation now right? it's seems it's always hard to find motivation during vacation but maybe some scrapping will get you back on track

Michelle~ I wish there was a scooperbowl where I lived! do take photos and share (the photos or the ice cream )

Monica~ when i saw the scrap bingo i was amazed... thanks for all your hard work!

I am sooo frustrated with Persnickety Prints right now. Has anyone ever ordered Instagram/polaroid prints from them?

Stacy- I'll peamail you the chatroom info. We try to keep it private among ourselves because we've had stalkers before.

Camille- You should still try to stop in on Sunday, even just to say hi, if you get a chance! Glad to hear you are enjoying your new place

Thanks! Sorry to hear that you've had problems with unwanted individuals.

I wanted to scrap tonight but I am so tired. It's been a long week!

Yeah, it is amazing how cruel some people can be when they hide behind their computer screens! But hopefully that is behind us.

I wanted to scrap tonight, too, but just didn't have the energy. Plus, I spent all my free time uploading prints to Persnickety. blah

@Melissa - That sounds terrible! She didn't give you any explanation?
Well just vent to us, we're all great sounding boards.

@Michelle - The Scooperbowl sounds amazing! Even though it's officially winter over here now, I'm dashing downstairs to grab some ice cream, just so I won't feel left out.

@Monica - Exactly, definitely no rules regarding PL!

I'm a little tempted to do only a monthly spread this month too; I've been getting hooked on 12x12 layouts and been completely neglecting my Project Life!
I still get the photos printed and slotted in with some patterned paper, but I find I'm not in the mood to do any journaling.
Actually that's the same with my traditional layouts. I currently have 3 layouts sitting on top of pizza boxes waiting for me to journal on...

As for chatting on Sunday, since it's public holiday on Monday over here (Queen's Birthday) I shouldn't have any trouble staying up late, look forward to hanging out with you girls again (and I'll be in PJ's again).

Oh talking about PJs, did any of you girls watch the Big Picture Classes Pajama Party?
I'm trying to catch up on the archived video now.
