|Posted: 6/11/2013 10:07:46 AM|I look at the Garden Girl layouts and feel that they have a definite, recognizable style. However, I find that I kind of bounce around between styles. Sometimes I do a one picture layout with layering and clusters. Another time, I'll do a multi-picture 2-page layout that is all straight lines and clean. Sometimes I use themed embellishments, and sometimes I don't. I feel like my scrapping is schizophrenic!
What about you? Do you have a style that you stick with?

Bounce around. Like to try different things. I dont think I could stick with just one style because I like (almost) everything.

Hmm... I don't think I do have a set, defined style. I see a lot of similarities in most of my pages, but I'm also very easily influenced by outside inspiration I've been looking at. Or just getting new product makes me want to try something new and different!

I am a definite bouncer. Sometimes I do a ton of layering, sometimes a ton of messy techniques, sometimes a lot of vintage items, and sometimes I am fairly clean and simple. Lately, I have been noticing that my last ten layouts all look really similar (very layered).

My layouts tend to look related because I'm usually going for clean, have a limited stash, plus I have a set of favorite (bright!) colors I lean toward. I also want the title and writing to have a particular personality to them - I'm always after a specific angle to the story.

I'm trying to focus in on my style lately instead of being all over the map. I'm a work in progress, but getting it narrowed down.

I guess I can say that I do have a definite style. I know what appeals to me when I'm looking at layouts on blogs, Pinterest, magazines & that is layering.

Although I mix it up, I do have a style. I vary from one page to two pages, from a single photo to multi photos, etc., because there are some things I can not scrap with only a single photo, and others where it is the only photo I have.
I'm a very linear scrapper. I'm very photo and story focused. I like dominant titles. I lots of words. I like subtle papers, especially as I often journal on the BG sheet. I like a bit of embellishment. I like strong lines. And my WRMK corner rounder was one of the best investments I ever made, along with my QK alphas.
Do all my layouts look the same? No, and I like that variety. Some stories call for a simpler approach, and some don't. It still all fits within my style.

|Posted: 6/11/2013 11:42:55 AM|I'm all over the place depending on the layout the pictures. My scrapbooks might have a few pages of linear clean lines, then you flip the page and its lacey with flowers everywhere, then you flip the next and there may be a page of specialty line like chuck e cheese or build a bear. I scrap chronologically by date so my books and style rolls with my life. LOL!

|Posted: 6/11/2013 12:12:00 PM|I wouldn't really say I have a "style" but I do find that I have things I gravitate towards. I love vibrant colors. I like pattern paper as a background. I scrap with minimal layers and minimal embellishment. I'm a 12x12 scrapper. I often mat my photos. I keep it pretty simple and I like good design.
I don't think I have a style but I do have a preference
|Posted: 6/11/2013 12:45:02 PM|
That's it - maybe your style is really just the things you always do to your pages like the colors you tend to use, or the types of embellishments you prefer or the patterned paper to cardstock ratio or whether you use stamps or not?
It's doesn't have a name or a category but my style is "everything touching, all patterned paper, light or bright colors, alpha stickers, two groups of embellishments instead of three, no flowers" style - ha! Most of my pages fit that description.

The only true style (I wouldn't really say style), but the thing I've come to embrace is that I am a pre-packaged embellie type of girl.
I don't have the desire or energy to fuss with, logon, manuever, print, reboot, load, download, save, etc...just to get a page completed. So, I don't own a Cameo or Portrait or want to. I sold my Expression years ago, but kept the original smaller Cricut just incase my kids needed it. I have the SLICE (which I won) and don't use it (even with 20 SD cards). Those die cut machines just aren't for me. And I okay with that.
I guess I do actually have a style. My style is to get it done and have fun doing it, without fussing over too many things in the process.

I tend to always ink my edges (down to even the background paper), slant my photos, have titles, and do one page layouts. I also usually have handwritten journaling, at least one sticker, and photo mattes but not always.
|Posted: 6/11/2013 1:20:28 PM|
My style is more clean with touches of the messy here and there. I am so inspired by the different styles here that I can be a little "all over the place" at times.

I like distressing, large photos, layers, and embellishment clusters. I am a messy scrapper but with clean lines and I tend to use the whole page. I love trying new things but have a basic "style"

Definitely no definite style, i just do whatever I feel that day....sometimes I wish it was more defined , but that would be boring to me!

|Posted: 6/11/2013 6:28:47 PM|Not really, but I admit I tend to the old fashioned. I'm trying to "modern up" - I began scrapping in the late 80s during the old Creative Memory days and have only done it sporadically. My stash, which I am cleaning out now, is a lot of cutesy stuff and stickers and themed paper that was all they had when I started. I never stopped shopping though, so I do have newer stuff.
For me, it is part artistic pursuit and part documenting all our paper photos, so the new one photo per page style is not for me, as lovely as I think it is. I still like double page spreads, and I tend to use more photos than one or two - the last one I did had eleven.
I have an anal need to use ALL my pictures and that's a problem. I have an illness I won't survive so I want to get everything I have into books as I know that whatever is on computers won't last once I'm gone. I am the photographer and the person who does the back-ups and keeps track of photos. So I want them all in books.
Project Life syle has been a live saver. I mix in some divided page protectors to get more photos in. I might have one or two very artsy pages as title or separation pages for a new section of the book and then I put them in the dividers, using some embellies. For the most part, it's relatively old-fashioned scrapping and I doubt I'll be uploading stuff into the gallery. But our story will be told, my kids will be able to look back on our family life and remember me, and that's all I care about.

OK, this thread got me totally wondering if I have a "style", so I went back to LOs that I had posted on another board around 2005ish.(This was when I really got away from the whole "construction paper, deco scissors, etc. and started really scrapping)
And, I have come to the conclusion:
Yes, I do. I have always used layers and color, 1-2 photos(with exceptions of course), some types of distressing (inking edges, wrinkling paper, printing on cardstock), artistic components such as paint, ink, etc. and lastly, I use unusual things (like mailbox numbers, zippers, pins)
So, to illustrate, here are a few of my fave layouts from 2005: ( view the whole gallery here: Old Gallery )
Lots of layers: My Nanny
Stamping with paint & transparency: Nothing good about Goodbyes
And it is so funny that this heritage layout has doily and cork circle waaayyy before they were "cool": Unlock the Past
This pic was printed on cardstock in B&W and I colored in the lips and eyes with chalks. Also used paint, sewing, fabric, and chipboard:
So, I am messy, layered, painted, inked, colorful and fabulous! That's my brand

I bounce around too. Different things inspire me on different days. The garden girls are amazing and I like all their styles for different reasons.
|Posted: 6/12/2013 9:53:23 AM|there's always so much inspiration to admire and try out, there are very few styles I don't like! how i determine what my lo will look like largely depends on the photo(s) or theme i am scrapping. sometimes i want a very clean simple look and other times i want lots of layering and texture.
one thing i notice that is a constant principle for me is that my photos have to be the main attraction not embellishments.

I think I do and it's definitely not minimalist. I like things clustered together collage style. not the whole page but as the focal point off to the side.

95% of my layouts are 2 pagers, and I usually include anywhere from 4-8 photos on the 2 pages, of varying sizes. Typically there is room on one of the two pages for journaling and I always have some embellishments - but rarely am I heavy on them. I like to showcase the photos as much as possible.

More of a formula than a style. Clean, linear, photo-focus, minimal embellishments. Almost always a two-pager, lots of pictures; always mat the photos and ink all edges. Minimal journaling - who/when/where.
I've been scrapping forever, and I used to try many different techniques, from embossing, tags, fibers, but nowadays, I stick with the basics (classics!).

I'm a two page layout, multiple photos, title, journal, some embellishment type of scrapper. I can best describe it as old BH style as I use her sketches for inspiration.
I still use brads, eyelets, buttons and ribbon on my pages. Just the other night I actually used old Making Memories metal pieces and a frame. Remember those? I forgot I had them lol.

Yes, I do. I always use patterned paper in the background, I always have themed elements to go with the story of the photos and I usually use a strip of contrasting patterned or solid paper on the bottom or side. I rarely use a title and usually have either a small journal box or just the name/date.
