Are you still looking for a Google Reader alternative, especially now that the end date is near?
If you've moved to a new blog reader, what did you choose?

I was really disappointed that Google Reader is being shut down, because it had a lot of awesome features that I used extensively that aren't found in other blog readers.

I decided to use Feedly, for now, after also trying out Bloglovin' and The Old Reader.

I just put up a blog post with screen shots, some pros and cons of each blog reader (Bloglovin', The Old Reader, and Feedly), if anyone is still looking for a new blog reader. Google Reader alternative
I'm not sure if it will be helpful to anyone, but I found it irritating to have to register and install and load up each reader to see what kind of features it had and how it looks, because I found so many blogs and websites about blog readers to just be way over my head and contained a lot of coding/computer person talk that I don't need or understand.

You are amazing! I was just going to post on Facebook this afternoon and see what people were using and liking. I've been avoiding changing over until the last minute because I hadn't heard of anything anyone was liking. Your analysis and screenshots are amazing! Thanks for doing all of the legwork.

Thank you, Jessica! I'm so happy you found it helpful/informative.

I've been trying to find a GR alternative for a few months now and was getting very discouraged, and overwhelmed. So hoped my post would help someone else. I know it's not all the readers out there, but those three were the ones I kept reading recommendations for.

And, I just found out a super easy way to categorize blogs in Feedly, and add one blog to multiple categories, so I'm even happier.

I began using Feedly a few months ago. It's ok. I still haven't been able to figure out how to search within my subscribed blogs...

I'm another convert to Feedly - I'm still working out all it's features but it's doing OK. I did lose a few feeds in the transition from GR though, so check your lists!

Thanks for the info! When I first got the notice that Google Reader will no longer be active on July 1st, I tried out Feedly and bloglovin', but decided to stick with Feedly. At that time, I kept thinking that July 1st was so far away and kept using my Google Reader, so I still need to transition into not typing in "Goog..." to get to my reader

Lots of Feedly fans here, I see!

I still haven't been able to figure out how to search within my subscribed blogs...
According to their UserVoice page, this isn't a Feedly function yet. But it has TONNES of votes, so I bet it will be added soon as a feature. Hope so! I know I used the search feature in Google Reader often -- usually to find a blog when I couldn't remember where it was filed, it was faster to search then skim through a blog list.

I did find out that you can see a nice list of all of your blogs in Feedly by clicking "index" on the left side menu, down near the bottom of the page.

You need a bookmark button in your browser toolbar. Easy-peasy!

I was looking for something else, but saw this morning that Feedly is planning on adding search feature to search within my Feedly.

I was in denial for a long time. How could they take away one of my favorite apps! I am so slow at adapting to new technology and change!

I finally accepted that Google Reader was going away and have gotten used to Bloglovin after trying numerous other blog readers. I exclusively read blogs on my phone or tablet, so it took a little time getting used to a different layout and some fiddling around to get all my settings the way I prefer them.

All of the comparisons I have seen focused on the desktop version of the readers, it would be great if someone would compare the app versions. If I had a blog I would do it!

I've been using The Old Reader which is very similar to Google Reader so far, except it posts the same things 2 or 3 times and is bringing up posts that are 2 or 3 years old in the mix. So weird. But it's still a beta version so hopefully the tweaks get worked out. I'm so super bummed Google Reader is going away, I love it so!

I have a post on this on my blog, but I'm using FeedlerPro. I love it! Closet thing I've tried that acts like Google Reader!

Is anyone having problems with the Feedly app for iPhone? It's not always showing new blog entries for me anymore, actually for about the last month. About two weeks ago a ton of new entries showed up, some were really old but were the most recent for that blog (one was a year old). For example, I subscribe to Cake Wrecks but haven't seen a single new post through Feedly in a month.

I've been using Feedly, but not so thrilled...

I LOVED being able to search for phrases or words on Google reader and you can't do that on Feedly. So, once it's read, it's gone unless you bookmarked it, no way to go back and search for "cake" to find that blog post from three weeks ago, etc.

Jen, I read a month or two ago that Feedly is currently working on adding search functionality, so hopefully that feature will be available soon.

I'm going to throw out another option.....
I started using Feedly after Reader went down but it kept crashing on me and I had all sorts of problems with it! I transferred to Newsify....it DOES have a search function, you can star items, you can sign in with your Gmail account and everything transfers automatically! It works very similarly to Google Reader and is very smooth....no problems.

Yup, I just saw a banner ad one Feedly today...they intend that to be a feature in their "pro" version of Feedly that you'll have to pay a monthly fee for.

I saw that the search is only for paid versions, and I saw there is a $99/lifetime version (for the first 5000 people) BUT what if it too goes belly up like Google reader!?
