I'm just wondering if anyone else with subscriptions to Scrapbook Trends or one of Northridge Publishing's other magazines is upset about the fact that they are going to only digital issues? I have quite a while left on a subscription, and I'm not at all interested in looking at the magazine digitally. I stare at a computer screen all day at work, I don't want to have to look at my magazines that way too. Maybe I'm the last dinosaur still loving her print magazines, but it really upsets me that they do this in the middle of subscriptions, instead of allowing existing customers to get the rest of their issues in the format they paid for. Does anyone else feel this way, or is it just me?

I totally agree! The price per issue is really high, and I was ok with that because of the lack of ads and having to pay postage.
Now that they don't have that they are making much more $ per issue. I haven't seen that they are making up for that.
Also, like you, I want paper, not a computer screen. I can search for whatever I like for free, not pay for it.
Also, my biggest gripe (as far as I understand) is that you get access to the issues as long as you are a subscriber. What happens if I don't renew? I can't see the past issues? If it was in print it would be in a pile for me to pull for ideas.

So sad to hear they are going all digital. I love their magazines. but I will not be going digital. For the same reason, if I decide to canel later on, I will not have what I paid for in the past. Wow, it seems there will sooon be no scrap mags at all.

I'm OK with it. I read all my books/magazines digitally now (and I haven't bough a CD or DVD in years). I love not having the clutter of magazines to worry about. And--think of all the trees we're saving (says the avid PAPERcrafter... ).

OMG! Just got off an email chat with Cassie. Northridge Publishing does not offer partial refunds. We will have access to some magazines to read or print off. If I don't like that option I can have two back issues of my choice sent to me. There are no other options. I am NOT happy.

jen1021 - I got am email a little over a week ago telling me that all issues would be going digital. I was really upset at the time. Decided to let a little time go by before I posted anything to see if I'd calm down any, but I haven't. This just really bums me out.

JerseyGirls - I'm so slow, I hadn't even thought about the fact that I won't be able to see my issues once I cancel my subscription. Now I'm even more unhappy

At least Cassie was very pleasant to work with so I can't fault that part of their customer service. I didn't get an email because I guess they had a different email attached to my account. I am still pretty unhappy over this decision. I might feel differently if I had a choice between going digital or getting a partial refund. I may have decided to stick with the digital content but now I will finish my subscription, I still have another year, then be done with them. Not at all happy, that is for sure.

Thank goodness for this board! Oh my goodness, had no idea this was happening! I called and they had a wrong e-mail address for me to start. Then they tried to get out of sending me my June prints, all digital starts in July so um-no, send me the printed mags I subscribed to. They were offering a credit to some online scrap store for the remainder of your subscription amount.... um-no thanks. After some discussion they convinced me to do the digital for the remaining 5 months I have as you get access to all their publications and you keep access to them for life. Going forward if you want the new stuff it'll be $9.95 a month but again, you have access to everything always. They are working on an app for Apple, Kindle devices etc due on 8/1. Still not happy with how they handled this but it seems typical for magazines. I didn't know about the CK changes or the SBEtc until I read it on this board.

Yeah, I read this thread and contacted NP this morning. I also have a couple of months left on my ST & Cards subs. So disappointed that physical copies will not be available anymore. I do read mags & books on my Kindle, but I want the real thing in my hands when it comes to scrap magazines. Cassie was nice to deal with & I have digital access until Nov'14. So I should know by then if I'm willing to pay for it or not. Not thrilled, but maybe an digital version is better than nothing.

Wait, what?! That really sucks. Scrapbook Trends is the only decent print magazine left, and now they are only doing digital... wow. I JUST subbed. I will definitely be trying to get my money back. The thing is, there is already SO much inspiration on the internet for FREE that why would I pay to look at a computer screen for a DIGITAL issue of a magazine?!

Just FYI I've always been digital. I learned to download each month's issue so I would always have access.

I've been getting it digitally for a few months now and I actually like having it digitally better . I don't have to find a place to stash the print ones.

I am not a current subscriber so I don't have hard and fast feelings about the switchover. I am interested in a subscription if they get an app available for my iPad. I have real concerns about them auto-renewing without permission like they have done in the past. Are they still having that problem? That may be a deal breaker for me if they do.

I just removed my credit card from their system. Also, the credit card I gave them was compromised in the months since so they couldn't use it anyway.

This makes me so sad Scrapbook Trends was my guilty little pleasure: I loved getting it in the mail and curling up on the couch with it and a cup of tea...it was 'me' time. They were also so awesome as to publish me a few times. An end to an era
I called NP today and was able to make up the remainder of my subscription with various back issues, which is fine with me. Just sad to see this change ....

Obviously, I have no choice but to adjust and enter the new age of magazines. I can do this more easily with things like "US", PEOPLE, GOOD HOUSEKEEPING, etc., but I take my most current issues of ST to crop retreats and we take turns grabbing inspiration from them. When I get stuck, I'll say, "okay, you MUST pick a layout from this issue and use it as a kick off point"...my layouts are totally different, but they inspire me to get creative.

Truth is, I could be doing this online without ANY subscription...I don't NEED Scrapbook Trends to find online layouts that totally rock. It was just easy to do it with a print copy.

BIG mistake for a creative magazine.

So disappointed that they have gone all digital!! I thought the point of a good percentage of their magazines was to create with PAPER! So why would they go all digital? Sad but will be cancelling my subscription when it is up.

I'm an online subscriber and got the express pack and love that I am able to open up any of the magazines they ever published at anytime because lets face it I didn't buy them all or sub when they first started. ... Love it.

I may resubscribe when I can read on my Kindle. That is supposed to happen in November. There is an app for ipads now though. I miss the ideas so if I want those I will have to suck it up.

I had an online chat with Cassie today. She was pleasant enough but I am not happy at all with Northridge Publishing!! I just subscribed in May at Scrapbook Expo in Orlando. There was no mention of going all digital. I just noticed yesterday that I was being charged $9.95 per month and not receiving any magazines. I didn't really notice at first because it always takes magazine subscriptions a long time to start, and some of Northridge's are not published every month ... I saw a magazine on the shelf at Hobby Lobby which triggered my memory. Hey, where's my magazines? Then I looked at my past few charge card bills, and there was a charge every month.

Last night I logged in to Northridge to see what was up. Hmmm, it says I have NO subscriptions. So what was I being charged for? So today I called Northridge (all operators are busy, you can leave a message and we will call you back ... I did leave a message they didn't call back.) I tried the online chat 3 times before I got it to work, it kept switching from online to offline and I kept losing the message I had typed.

So I finally get Cassie. She says Northridge emailed all subscribers telling us they were going all digital. I have thousands of emails in my inbox , I searched, there were NONE from Northridge. I asked her to please check and make sure they had the correct email, yes they had it. I told her I logged in and my account showed NO subscriptions. She had me log out and log in again and I would be able to see my subscriptions. Ok. That worked. So I asked for some kind of refund for the last few months. She said they "don't give refunds on digital subscriptions", the issues are there for me to read. I said, yes, but I DID NOT have ACCESS to them until today! She actually said "there are many ways I could have contacted Northridge" . Well the online chat feature was intermittent and they don't return phone calls ... so I'm not sure that's true! How would I know to log on for digital issues if I'm still waiting for my magazines to arrive by mail?

A friend of mine was with me at Scrapbook Expo and she also subscribed. She didn't get an email either.

I asked if I would get an email when new issues are available. "NO, check online around the end of the month." What about the magazines that aren't monthly?. "Check online."

I think it's pretty crappy that they roped a bunch of people in at Scrapbook Expo in May, and then went digital in June. They have my email and chose not to use it, but they sure didn't hesitate to use my credit card number! I am really disappointed in them. They had quality magazines. I'm going to try reading them online. I paid for them! Will probably cancel, as I think I'd rather hold a magazine in my hands. I sure hope it doesn't take 5 months to cancel!

So it's been a few months now since Northridge Publishing went digital. I had purchased an all access pass, but still feel it is a waste of money. I hate having to look at the magazines on the computer and I don't know that I would like it any better if I did have an iPad. It seems there is no good way to "lift" any ideas unless I print out the pages myself. Bummed...

I just subscribed today ad already I am thinking about canceling. Is there anyway to download a copy to my PC? Also they say there is a bookmark button but I dont see that either I prefer my subscription to Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking so much more. I can view ALL back issues without having to pay an extra $30, I can download and bookmark my page.

Thanks

Please check your credit cards! Today I noticed that Northridge Publishing charged my card on 3/28/14 and again on 4/1/14. Their support link says there is an online support chat bubble, I could not find it. Their phone number first rang busy, on subsequent tries it says "the person you are trying to reach is unavailable".

I emailed support and will wait to hear their explanation. In the meantime I had my credit card company refund the charge.

Anyone else notice charges?

I would contact your creditcard company or bank and explain what's going on and how you are not getting what you were promised and paid for.

I did a trial promo wit them the other year, which I read through all the fine print and no where did it say you were signing up for anything more or long-term and would be charged. When I started getting charged I called Northridge, who basically said "too bad, you're signed-up."

I called my bank right afterward and they got on a three-way call with Northridge, made them refund the current month's charges and then completely cancel the "subscription" I never signed-up for.
