Welcome to July on the Young Scrappers thread! It's officially summer holidays this month (for the North hemisphere). Which means for some of us going on vacations, relaxation, sun, sea... and hopefully a lot of photo opportunities, and it's a great time to get caught up on those projects. Feel free to join in the chat! Just post an intro so we know who you are. And post links to your layouts here - we love to share our work & leave some praise!

--------------------------

We are continuing our challenge for the year:

For the Pinspiration Challenge, we collaborated to create a list of 52 challenges - one for each week this year! The challenges were based off of layouts we had pinned on Pinterest or bookmarked online. It is a way to use some of that inspiration we are constantly pinning on Pinterest!

There really are no rules with this challenge! It is more just a way to motivate each other to scrapbook. Choose challenges from the list that you feel inspired by, create something, and share it with us! The goal is to see how many challenges you can complete in one year.

Here is the link to the challenge list to download: challenge sheet

And here is the Pinterest board with all the challenges and sample layouts: Pinspiration challenge on Pinterest

--------------------------

+ Monica's June challenge is still open for two more weeks head HERE for the details.

--------------------------

Every month, we will have a hostess to keep us motivated. For July, our hostess is Steph. The details for this month are coming soon.

*Week 1: Grab some of your recently purchased scrappy products and make a layout, card or Project Life page. Make something pretty with those new goodies! (page 1 of the thread)

**Week 2: This week we will focus on one of our Pinspiration Challenges - Use a song title or lyric. (page 3 of the thread)

Hello, everyone! I'm new to this group and the forums in general, and just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. I'm a 21 year old girl living in Israel, studying through The Open University, and have been scrapping for years. I started to upload my projects to 2peas only last week (even though technically I've been a member for 2 years) and I'm kinda excited about all the inspiration this site has to offer!
Have a lovely day!!

Lizzie, I know or at least I should know, haha. Thanks for the encouragement. I'm glad you're back.

Welcome, Fafuna! I'm Loni, from the U.S. I am 29, married 9 years and have almost 5 kids. 2 more days until I get to snuggle my litt le man - can't wait to meet him.

I'm cleaning and painting my scrap table today. Hubs says I can't go into labor until after work. I'll see what I can do. haha.

Have a great week everyone!

@loni: wow!!! Congrats!!! I wish you a happy & safe labor & delivery <3 <3 <3. and enjoy cleaning and painting your scrap table!!

@caro: what it's like to live in a foreign country? And one where they don't even speak your mother tongue? i've never been abroad so to me it sounds like such an exciting and intimidating thing to do.

oh, i must say you two have a scary amount of badges *jealous*...

@fafuna: I lived in England and Germany, but before going I could speak a little the language each time (I study both of them at school). And this year I lived 11 weeks in Spain, this was another adventure to be honest, a bit difficult at first, but when you are surrounded by the language you can't not improve !!
I love travelling around the world, discovering new cultures... so for me ending up in the country where they don't speak French is not a problem (also because I can also speak really well English)

Hi girls me again

@Tessa: nice to meet you

so I received the phone call I was dreading for, and unfortunatelly I did not get the job.
The guy told me I was their second choice by far! I would be a perfect teacher, if they had 2 jobs they would definitely take me, that I should not give up looking.
Number 2.... it sucks...

Happy July everyone! I can't believe we are already halfway through 2013!

I will have my first challenge up later this evening.

Fafuna: Welcome! I am Stephanie, 26 and I live in Texas with my husband. We have 2 feathered kids (parakeets) Sammy and Scooter. I've been scrapping since 2000 and a member of Young Scrappers for about 4 years now.

Hi, my name is Bailey and @Steph725 is my wonderful cousin! For about a week and a half I have been blowing up her email with scrapbooking questions because I just recently fell in love with it so much so I have four projects as of right now. I am engaged and will be getting married Feb., 14, 2015. And will also be gaining an amazing step daughter that day. And I'm just really excited to finally find a hobby that really makes me happy.

Melissa: You know, noboday has ever called me Faf and I love it!! Fafuna is not my real name - just a nickname, but through the years my family has come up with more similar nicknames, like Fafunim and Fafunaella, but you're the first to come up with Faf and I love it so much!! And yes, I'm Jewish. (:

Tessa: Hi, Tessa! So nice to meet you!!

Caro: Thank you so much for all the comments on my layouts!!! It was so incredibly kind of you. I'm sorry you didn't get the job... that school is missing out on a really nice person. But another one will snatch you soon enough!!

Loni: how's the scrap table going? (:

Stephanie: wow, you've been scrapping since you were really little!!! I was 14-15 when I discovered the scrapbooking world, but you were even younger. So cool!!

Bailey: first things first, congrats on your engagement!!!! AND welcome to the scrapbooking world, it's an awesome place to be!! It's so much fun to hear about another person falling in love with this lovely hobby <3

Bailey: HI!!! So glad you are joining us here! I won't give you an intro to myself since you already know all about me LOL.

Faf: I'll go ahead and start calling you that since you like it so much Yes, I have been scrapping for about half of my life now - pretty cool huh? One of my other cousins introduced me to the cardmaking/scrapping world, so I'm thrilled to be able to share it with Bailey now!

Loni: How is the scrap table coming along?

aww, thanks for doing the thread for me this month, Caro! I actually was away just for the weekend, but I'm also leaving for Oregon on Wednesday, so that takes some stress off not having to do the thread!

ugh, I have been really sick the last couple of days. I am pretty sure I got food poisoning - we ate dinner Saturday night at a festival (lots of food trucks/booths) and I think that was the culprit. Makes me really wary of eating out ANYWHERE anymore. ugh! Feeling better now, but still not 100%.

Happy Canada Day to our northern ladies!

Caro- So sorry about not getting the job I always think that it was meant to be and something better will come along.

Steph- Can't wait to see what you come up with for the July challenge!

Fafuna- Welcome! It's so cool to have a mix of ladies from all over the world. And now you are here to represent Israel! That is so cool! I'm Monica, by the way. I'm 27 years old, work in accounting, and still living at home. I have a dog named Dinky, no kids.

Loni- Any second now, huh? How exciting!! I bet you are sooo ready for it to be over with. haha! Keep us posted.

Bailey- hi! Steph already told me all about your adventures in scrapbooking I think it's great! I'm so glad you are joining us here. Now, you need to get to posting your projects so we can see! I hear you got some Snap stuff to start your Project Life?

Not sure how much I will be around the next week or so. I am taking my laptop with me to Oregon, and I am assuming I will have some downtime. So I'll try to check in! Maybe post some pics.

Faf and Steph, painting my table is not having the desired affect - labor - but one more coat on the legs tonight and I'll sand it a little tomorrow. So, nearly done!

Own "week _____" card, but need to get se supplies first. I want the blank honey edition 4x6 and the other size cards. I'm looking at different title and end pages for suggestions. I like how you did the pic of Chris and you

Fafuna: Great to have you here!!! Ima go hop and around and see your projects. I bet they are FAB!!!

Tessa: I'm 29, so we are almost the same age. How fun!! Tho I have three kiddos with my oldest being 7. They go, 7, 5, and 3. Yes, I'm crazy and yes my house is always messy and loud hahahahaaaa

Caro: I'm so sorry sweetie. But you know what, that is some great feedback they gave you. Do you know why they choose the other teacher over you? And it's okay, b/c that means that your D R E A M job is coming up! Keep at it love!!

Bailey: Oh what a fun time!!! I recently just got married, 12/12/12 actually and yes of course it was at 12 noon! Many grats to you and I hope that your special day is truly that... SPECIAL!!!

Monica: Oh noes!!! I hate when a stomach bug comes up and then you have SOOOOO much to do!!! I really hope that you start getting 100% soon so you can enjoy Oregon! I hear it's sooooo gorgeous!!!

Loni: Just a few more moments of being prego and then it will all be worth it! So when is the big day? The 3rd right?

So today is Tuesday... no school, the hubs is on vacation so no work and I was up at... 6am. Yup... awesome right?? It's not like I have anything really to do today... we are heading up to the aquatic center in town, which is two blocks away, so it's not like a 'big deal' and here I am... up at 6am like I have a plate full of things to accomplish before 10am.
And on top of that... I'm just CLUMSY today!! I have spilled milk and cereal all over the computer desk, dropped so many items on the floor, and luckily nothing broke but arg! It's like I have a prolonged case of the Monday's!!!!
But I'm sure it's nothing a little crafty time can't take care of!!

@everyone: thanks for your kind words. I am kind of feeling really crap right now + there are no other job advertise for the moment...

@Monica: food poisoning? not cool... are you feeling better?
PS: you are welcome, I hope I did it right!!

@Steph: nice challenge, 1st post updated. I did not buy anything recently..... appart from 1 stamp set of wild animal (might do cards!!)

@Stacy: nice to meet you

@Tessa: so what did you do for 4hours? scrapbook?!!!

@Loni: thinking of you every minutes!!

@Bailey: nice to meet you, I am Caro, French, 26 years old, living currently in London (UK). Just graduated after 9 months of hell. I am a Language teacher for secondary school and high school.
I have an Irish boyfriend and we are currently living in his place with 2 other housemates (since I came back from Spain, last week) and we are waiting for me to find a job to look for your own place.
My family (parents and 2 sisters + a dog) lives happily in sunny and hot Marseille (South of France) but I am not from there, actually I can't really tell you where I am from... I moved 10 times around France + since I am 19 years old I also lived in Germany, England and Spain.
Hobbies: I love travelling, scrapbooking of course! going to the cinema, surfing on the web, talking diffeent languages and discovering new cultures and countries + teaching of course!

So because I am unemployed and because there are no job out there... I am spending my days at home (but I am really busy). I do chores (I think the housemates like that in a way because the house is always clean and tidy), I work on my blogS (yes I have several of them, 1 for scrapbooking, one for teaching french, another for teaching spanish, and I need to update the ones about Mexico and Spain) + I scrapbook, either digital or paper I manage to have a small space in the living room

Talking about scrapbooking: I added an insert to one of my digital PL, what do you think?? PL-Spain: Day 2

Monica: Hope you feel better already! I'm super happy to represent my country (: and I'm still living at home too.

Loni: Tomorrow's THE day, right?!!!

Bailey: awwww.... that's so sweet of him!

Stacy: I just saw your Fire layout and it's a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Seriously inspiring.

Ohsnaplizzie: thank you! I hope you enjoyed them. I just started scrapbooking again after almost an entire year of not scrapping (I have no idea how that happened!!), so I'm still getting the hang of it. Most of the layouts in my gallery are old ones, but favorites. And I hope your day's got better!

Caro: love the insert! Last year, after my 20th birthday I tried to do Project Life, but failed miserably... But I enjoy seeing other people's pages. So amazing to see so many versions of the very same project... It's really wonderful.

Melissa: my real name is Efrat. The stressed syllable is the last one, and the A is pronounced like in "rut", not like in "rat" (and R is pronounced differently in hebrew but that's another matter).
So excited about you possibly coming here!! Israel is truly beautiful and a great country to visit. It's so tiny and still there are so many different things to see and different areas to explore!! *cough, cough* I'm biased, obviously, but it's true! National Geographic recently included the Israeli National Trail in its list of best hikes in the world, so there you are, it's not just me

Yes, I'm not an expert on markets (I'm more like the mall type...) but I know there are, and a few that are very big.

So I have a fun question for everyone - if you could make a beginner scrapbooking/card making kit for a beginner like me what would you include? I need ideas of some things.

Bailey: I'd do the basics! Tape runner, pop dots, good white and black pen, corner rounder, solid 12x12 and a 6x6 pad... Not sure if that answers your question

Hi Girls!! I'm new here but so glad I found such a cool group of women! My name is Jamie, I'm 33 & mom to Joey (14), Kaili (10) & Brody (2) & I'm from Southern California. Of course I love scrapbooking but enjoy just about all crafts. My favorite paper crafts are 3-D items & cards. I just returned home from the 2013 CTMH Convention & am feeling so incredibly inspired! My mind is just exploding with ideas for new projects & can't wait to share with you all as well as get to know you!!

hi girls!

I went out last night to see some friends and we walked there and back (around 1h each way) it was nice, and it halped making me hungry and later digest!
On the way back I stopped by my old house to "wake up" my sleeping housemate in front of the TV (I knew she would be there!!) I am so sad because we are both kind of busy and she is going back to Ireland at the end of the month... I am going to miss her...
The Walking dead is starting again (sunday night) in the UK so I am so happy because my ex housemates told me I could call over every Sunday night (because we used to watch it together, like a TV night!)

@Bailey: sentiment stamps with black ink (stazon or versafine), neutral cardstock and coloured and patterned paper pad 6x6 or scraps from 12x12, rubans, buttons, flowers and maybe some washi (wood veneer can be nice too) -> of course not all that on the same card, but if you have these basic "ingredients" you can make pretty anything!

what are you up to today???

Bailey: fun question!! you've already been given excellent answers so I'll just add 2 things:

1. buy things that make you happy!! Papers that you love, embellishments that make you excited! Do make sure that you can actually use them (that the colors and the styles will work for you etc), but remember to buy some fun things too, because neutral cardstocks and pens are less exciting (but super important of course).

2. Tend to gravitate away from the pricey tools, especially in the beginning. I have stamps, punches and cutting tools that I bought early on and I wish I hadn't (and I also remember some that I only considered to buy and now I'm SO happy I didn't). They're expensive and in *my* opinion we usually don't get our money's worth from them, while instead we could buy so many papers and embellishments that we'd enjoy a lot more (and won't take up room in our scrap space for a lifetime). Stamps and punches CAN be super awesome and I have stamp sets that I'm so happy I bought, but generally I would suggest to wait until you know your style and what kinds of things you'll actually use over and over again before you buy the more pricey items.
Funny thing, my most used stamp set is actually a small set that cost almost nothing, while the sets I paid a lot more for I don't like anymore.

I hope I helped! And I'd love to know if the more experienced scrappers here agree or disagree with me.
Have fun, Bailey!!

Faf, Caro, and Melissa - thank y'all so much! All of your answers gavel some great ideas of what I would like to get. I'm hoping to come into a little bit of extra money cause its almost my 21st bday! And I would like to get a few things before Joseph and I move in. What I'm really struggling with is in project life the week cards. Idk I want to do at all.

hey girls!
I'm flying to Oregon today, woohoo! But first I have to work from 10-2. Then catch my flight at 4:30. It's going to be a jam-packed day. Hopefully I can sleep on the plane.

My stomach still isn't back to normal I hate to feel this way while traveling and being on vacation. I sure hope I feel back to myself within a couple of days.

Anyway, hope to check in while I'm in Oregon! If not, have fun! Do lots of scrapping for me

I'm back. Finally feeling better, after being sick for the month of June with fever, chills, headaches, a cold and than evolving into a sinus infection, but still have a cough. I'm so sad that I missed out on the fun for June. But it's July and I have the rest of the week off. So that is a good thing. Want to wipe the dust off of my desk and get to work. I see alot of new people.

Welcome Faf, Bailey, and Jamie

I'm Ruthie, 26, living in the suburbs of Chicagoland. I live with my wonderful boyfriend, Will, of almost two years (in a couple of days it's our anniversary) and my 18 month old daughter Adaliah, Dali for short. She is becoming to be a funny little thing. Everyday is something new. Been scrapping for about 10 years, but I love all crafts.

Loni - Can't wait to see the baby! So excited.

Monica - Safe travels and have fun.

Melissa - The move is the hard part, but decoracting is going to be fun.

Caro - The third time is the charm. Don't give up, and keep your head up.

Steph - Great challenge. I haven't shopped because I'm saving up for the Scrapbook Expo in August, but I do have my S.E.I. scrapbooking kit that came in June I haven't opened. I'll see what I make. Thanks!

So happy to be back. Woot Woot
