~~**CHA Mega Crop Hostesses**~~

Saturday 20 - Loni
Sunday 21 - Steph
Monday 22 - Caro
Tues 23 - Loni
Wed 24 - Melissa
Thurs 25 - Melissa
Fri 26 - Caro/Stacy
Sat 27 - Rachel
Sun 28 - Monica
Mon 29 - Steph
Tues 30
Wed 31

**CARD SWAP**

Create 2 designs of cards. The amount will depend on how many sign up, so I will update that on Tuesday morning. You have until Monday, July 22 to sign up. If you are a new YSer as of this month, we suggest that you sit this swap out and see how it works. Not that we don't like you, we've just had flakers in the past!

Cards must be standard in size (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) and please include envelopes if you have them. You have freedom in the design, just be sure that the quality is something you would like to receive.

Deadline for international participants is August 1st and for US participants Aug 5. I have changed my address in the last couple of weeks so I will pmail you the new address when the participant list is established.

So, if we have 6 paricipants you will be making 12 cards, 6 of each design and mail them to me. You will end up with 12 different cards, 2 of your own and 10 from the other participants.

This will be fun! The idea was to do a little stash busting to make room for some new CHA product! So, let's do that.

*Swap Participants*
1. Loni
2. Caro
3. Steph
4. Monica
5. Rachel
6. ?

**** LONI'S RECIPE CHALLENGE ****

Okay, the rules of a recipe challenge - I don't really know them. So, my made up rules are - follow this recipe to make your page and link it up here because we all want to see!

1. Choose your photos and background paper. 2 4x4 photos and 1 12x12 patterned paper for your background. Keep in mind the CHA challenges. Most of them could work for this.

2. Cut your remaining patterned paper to these dimensions.
2 6x6 pps
1 6x3
1 6x1

3. Use ribbon, washi or 2 1/2x12 inches of pp. The ribbon and washi will be 2 strips of 12 inches in length.

4. 2 tones of paint. (You may want to add this before the paper layer - keep that in mind before you adhere the pp.)

5. Embellishments:
4 circle elements
3 square/rectangle elements
3 tags/labels
1 die cut shape
and use wood veneer
and use enamel dots or brads

6. Finally add your Title and handwritten journaling

Have fun with it! Loni

Good morning everyone!!

I have been productive this morning while you were all sleeping!!
I did a LO following Loni's recipe challenge, and it fits also for CHA summer Challenge 2 : 2 people
M&P

* both of my photos are square at the right dimension
* all the papers are here in the right size
* I chose 2 stripes of paper instead of the washi/ribbon
* 2 colours of paint (white and green)
* 4 circles (3 buttons + stamped circle embellishement - from YS swap last year)
* 3 rectangles (1 on photo, 2 on the blue pattern paper)
* 1 tag + 2 labels
* 1 die cut shape (hand die cut works? if yes the camera, if not the tag!)
* wood veneer (flowers, arrow and asterix)
* brads
* title + hand written journaling

what do you think??

Happy birthday, Steph!!!!

Caro: Woohoo for graduation!!! Your cards are SO cute. Didn't you get tired of making so many of them, though?

Rachel: I'm not on instagram but there are so many challenges going around that I want to take part in that I anyway can't do all of them, so go ahead and have fun with your challenge! I'd love to see the results and everything you girls come up with!!

Okay gals. For my challenge tomorrow- we will work on the CHA Challenge #1 - ONE COLOR YOU LOVE to keep it relatively simple.

I would like to find a time we could all start at the same time, but if not here is your challenge.

Gather your supplies.
Start a timer and start working on your page. You have 20 minutes to complete this layout.
Stop every 5 minutes and snap a quick photo of your progress (post to instagram)
At the end of 20 minutes- it would be fun to see a photo collage to show your progress with the layout.

At the end of the crop- whoever has completed this challenge (either live or on your own) and posted a collage to this thread will be entered to receive a prize from me!

Clear as mud?!?!

Thanks everyone for your comments on my LOs!

Rachel, I will try to do it, but WE are usually none scrapbooking days for me... So I will see.

Today's discussion: Now that CHA is over, what was our highlight of these 3 days??

For me, last night, using Google hangout with some of you, it was brilliant!!!

Hi Ladies! The challenge for today is to take inspiration from this music video. It can be the colors, font, words, ANYTHING. I've been listening to this song since we went and saw the movie and it just totally makes me HAPPY!! And I'll offer a bit of a RAK to one randomly drawn participant.

But guess what? I am hosting tomorrow and either Monday or Tuesday, and I have a separate challenge for each day! Plus a game tomorrow on video chat Woohoo! Hope to see you there!

Hi girls,
I am in town clothes shopping for Damien.... This is a pain...
He is fussy and indecisive...

@Loni: how are you feeling?
According to your maths what do the numbers stand for?

@Melissa: did you go to your mum's and got your sewing machine?
I am craving to buy one.... But dunno where and not sure I will have space for it.

@Stacy: on my phone so can't see the video yet

@Rachel: really like the 20 min challenge (even though I multiplied the time by 5...)

Discussion: I could hold for years... But where is the fun in that

Haha Caro, shopping for boys is always a pain (except my bf is remarkably easy to shop for, as long as it's a striped tshirt he likes it)

Melissa, I always have trouble sewing on LOs, my sewing machine is a little old and crochety

Also, I have 4 new pages!

In case some of you who weren't in the chat today want to do my challenge for today, here it is. (It's another recipe!)

Monica's Recipe Challenge:
(1) 1-3 photos
(2) cardstock background
(3) 3 sheets of patterned paper, cut into strips.
(4) Add something hard and something soft.
(5) Add something flat and something dimensional.
(6) Add something matte & something shiny.
(7) Quote/lyric/book title for the title.
(8) Add either journaling or at least the date.

some hints:
For steps 4-6, get creative! It doesn't have to be all embellishments. Matte could mean a mist or stamping or washi tape. Anything with a matte surface. Something soft could be ribbon, sewing, a soft embellishment, etc.

For the patterned paper strips, you can cut as many strips as you want as long as it's from the 3 patterns and as long as they are strips.

Have fun!

Well, I think I was exaggerating, but my math goes something like, I have 5 cropper hoppers full of paper. I would run out of embellies way sooner than that. I figure out of a kit you get from a kit club you could make 10-ish LOs out of that. right? So 10x12 = 120 layouts you should be making in a year if you do a kit club.

Silly? Probably. But hey, you asked.

Melissa, First I cut a heart out of transparency paper, then I placed it at the top and sprayed around it using gold, moved it, sprayed with yellow, moved and sprayed with pink then moved and sprayed with red. Around the pink heart (which was in the middle) i poked holed using a needle, then I took pink embroidery floss and threaded it through random holes, did the same with dark pink and then again with yellow thread (not floss).

Hi girls how are you

So in the end we did not do much this WE, on saturday we stayed at home but Damien put me on computer ban... (He said I am going to have square eyes ... but also because I was complaining about migraines
But I was actually so productive!! I made 4 LOs!!

On Sunday, we did not do much, crepes for late breakfast and then we went to town for 6 hours for getting clothes for Damien's.

Those on Instragram has already seen them, but for the other ones,
here are my 4 saturday's LOs (so impress 4 LOs in 1 day!! Computer ban is working for me!!)
I was here...
...I went there
El casa (1)
El casa (2)

I will try to do Monica's recipe if I have time. But I was really busy this morning and this week is going to be kind of hectic.

Hi, girls!

Rach, your question is a SERIOUS question. Really, it made me think. I don't have a huge stash at all - I'm not the kind of girl that has (or wants) a huge room full of supplies that will last 7 generations. I don't buy scrap supplies often at all. And still... now that I think about it, I think I could make at least 100 layouts without going to a scrap store even once (sans adhesive, you said). That's something to think about... so thanks

I really hope I'll get to scrap today!! I'm not very good with challenges, but maybe I'll try one of them.
Have a lovely day!!

Hello girls! I just wanted to say it was fun chatting with you a bit the other day. I was going to be scrapping yesterday, but made other plans. I went to the PANAMA v USA, Gold Cup Final soccer game super, super last minute with my mom. It was amazing!!! I'm half Panamanian and the Panamanian team has never made it this far in a tournament, so I had to go. I took some great pictures and the experience was amazing. I'm so grateful to live an hour away from Chicago. I can't wait to scrap the pictures and write about it. I'm so proud of the Panamaian team even though we didn't win, we did so well and beat one of the best teams ever, Mexico. Hopefully I can chat today and catch up on the thread too. Been seeing some amazing LOs.

Have a great Monday!!!

Just woke up and my heart is heavy. A friend of mine passed away. 21 years old,
Michael Tomescu, great hockey player and aspired to be a musician - he reached pretty much every dream he wanted. Life is too short!
Just want to say I truly appreciate everyone of you and I'm thankful for the friendships I've made here

I work today so I won't be around until later (maybe)

@Melissa: I am really sorry to hear about your friend. I heard on a paperclipping Roundtable podcast that making a LO with your friend or about him or about something he liked or has done can help you feel better.
Thinking of you today (hugs)

Hi ladies!

Melissa: So sorry to hear about your friend

I am your Mega-Crop Hostess today. I took today off as part of my birthday weekend, so I took advantage of being able to sleep in a bit today. Sorry for being late!

CHALLENGE: Today we will be using the TwoPeas CHA Challenge #9. Let's focus on digging deep into our stashes and use some of the older products we have saved up!

DISCUSSION: What are some of your favorite older paper collections?

Melissa, so sorry to hear about your friend! Hugs <3

I just got in my huge order of scrappy goodies. I am so darned excited to start making more LOs

Also, I just signed up for an online Dinosaur Paleobiology course that my university is offering. Should be pretty cool. And it was free.

Hey! I forgot that I am hosting today & tomorrow so I am going to go ahead & give you tomorrow's challenge.

It is actually a list of challenges, and you can choose to do one or all!

Wednesday challenges:
(1) Use a non-scrapbook Pinterest piece for your starting off point. For example, fashion, an art piece, home decor, nature, etc.

(2) Scrap a page about YOU!

(3) Water: as a theme, in a technique, an embellishment, or patterned paper

(4) Use 3 different mediums on your project. Some examples: paint, rubons, mist, inking, stamping, diecutting, glitter, stickles/dimensional paint, embossing, gelatos, copics, resist, sewing, hand stitching, doodling, etc.

(5) Use all the same number/amount of items on your page. For example: 3 papers, 3 buttons, 3 stamped images or 5 ribbons, 5 photos, 5 enamel dots, 5 staples.

Let me know if you have questions! As usual, these are all flexible & open to interpretation

Hey girls,

Sorry I've been missing out on all the CHA celebration! I've been in bed for the past 5 days with the flu. Completely incapacitated. Now that I'm better (ie. not feverish and could get out of bed to see a doctor) I've got a ton of housework to do - and whilst typing that I just got reminded I have to hang the washing - so I may not be able to do much scrapping this week either... Booo~
