So I have been subbed to SC for awhile now and 3 months ago I decided to end my subscription. It was before my 6 months sub was up so I contacted them and asked them to please cancel my subscription and that I was willing to pay the $15 cancellation fee since it as before the 20th of the month. Well last month, the 1st rolls around and lo and behold their is that $37 dollar fee again! I contacted them again and this time I was not so nice. I asked them to cancel it and that I was not willing to pay the $15 since it was not cancelled when requested the previous month. I still heard nothing back from them. Today is the 1st and guess what email I just received!!!! They charged me again!

What can I do to get this stopped! Since they only have the contact form I can't seem to find a phone number or an email address. What is going on with them lately!!

Sorry to vent but that's a lot of money that I am out that I didn't want to be!!!

I'd call your credit card company. They can reverse the charge, since at this point they do not have your permission to be charging you since you have repeatedly requested the cancellation.

Yikes. I would definitely call my credit card company to get the charges removed. This is illegal to keep charging someone after cancellation. Are they still mailing you out kits even after they charged you the $15 cancellation fee?

Yeah, I would dispute the credit card charges from both last month and this month. That is ridiculous. They really need to get their act together.

You are not the first, unfortunately. Sorry youve been yet another to get gobbled up by them. Their CS sucks. Everybody knows it. Why people continue to suffer with SC is beyond me.

Call your credit card company and dispute the charges. But the quickest easiest solution is to sometimes just report your credit card lost and get a number.

Sorry that has happened. I would be furious like you. Like others said call you CC and dispute the charges and keep the emails that you have sent.

Have you thought about posting a comment on their facebook page? I had an issue with a product from a different company, when I didn't receive a response to my original message I posted a comment on their facebook page. It got their attention and were quick to respond. Can't say that you'll get the same response, but I'm sure they don't want anything negative like that floating around on facebook. Just throwing it out there.

That is absurd. I have only ever purchased one Studio Calico item, and the more I hear about their business practices, the less I want to support them financially. In fact, I am going to remove an SC item I have sitting in my cart at another store right now.

I have heard that the contact us form bascially does nothing and you have to start a conversation from the dashboard to get any kind of response. Try contacting Studio Calico in the meantime. Alternatively, I agree with the others, contact your credit card company.

That is horrible!
I would absolutely be contacting my credit card company and requesting a refund/inquiry and getting the money back for the two months you cancelled but were still charged for the kit.

The past few wks there have been MANY negative threads about the business practices of this company -but the 2 Peas moderators keep pulling them.

However, based on what I read before 2 Peas pulled threads, what happened to you is not uncommon with SC! In fact, many Peas were calling them the "Hotel California" of kit clubs, meaning once you get in you can never leave!

Peas who were trying to quit the club because the SC had changed the rules, were being told (by other Peas) to talk with their credit card companies, explain things, and ask for what I think was called a "charge back?" It sounds like your ccard company will reverse the charge AND If SC tries to charge you the cancellation fee again, they have to pay an additional $25 - so bottom line is that it won't be worth it to them. And then you will be FINALLY free!

I've never been a member of SC, so don't have an ax to grind, but I posted the above because MANY others were given the same run around when people tried to drop their kit memberships. It was enough to seem like it's a standard script with that company in terms of their business practices! Ignore people, keep charging and hope to take more of their money as long as they can while the customer feels powerless because SC has your ccard info on file!

Sorry you are getting the SC run around!

Thanks everyone for the great tips and encouragement. I unfortunately used my debit card as my card on file but my husband is the manager of our local bank and he said that we can fill out a form and submit it. I don't normally get aggravated about things like this but when almost $40 a month is coming out for a product you don't even want, it's not worth it. And even though they are still sending me the kits, the whole reason I wanted out of the sub was to save money and stick with Cocoa Daisy because the SC kits were really beginning to stink! Hopefully I will find out something soon. Hope no one else has to go through something like this. I work hard for my money!

If this is true, and SC knows it, why don't they remove the "contact us" form? Doesn't that seem to be the OBVIOUS thing to do??

The inability of this company to have any DECENT customer service astounds me.

Good luck, OP.

Yes. As a banker I will tell you it must be within 60 days of the charge. However, depending on the VISA/MC agreement with the bank, you could possibly be liable for $50.00. I think if you file within 30 days there is no charge. Also, the bank may be the one to take the hit on the chargeback, not SC. Sometimes our employees (especially management) choose not to file a claim with the bank because they don't want their employer to incur the loss and because regulators look at these reports and question why managers are filing these claims (possible fraud). Two weeks ago our regulator was here reviewing our claims and asked me how many of the claims filed were from employees and how many were management - so it's just from my experience.

If they will not respond--and you are not the first person I've heard who's had this issue--then pursue it with your bank through their channels, and use any of your emails or screenshots from that if they need additional information. If they send you product, mark it as Return to Sender and refuse it.

Good luck, I hope you get some resolution.

I was at A's this weekend, saw some SC merchandise that was nice, but wouldn't buy it because of the company and kit club issues. The more people speak out (on websites/ social media) and through boycotting the product, the more likely they are to change the way they do business. We should demand fair business practices and not settle for less.

You can go on and just change your payment info to a number that is not valid.
I had to do that with a company that was ignoring messages from me.

Funny thing is, it sure got their attention when my payment wouldn't go through. I got a message from them the same day

Debit cards usually have the Visa or Mastercard sign on it. You can call and handle it over the phone usually with the 800 number on the back of the card.

I had a similar problem with getting no response from another online company, and I decided to report it to the Better Business Bureau (BB using an online form. This got their attention real fast! It's unfortunate consumers have to resort to such tactics to get a business to listen...

I recommend contacting your bank to stop the ACH transaction. You can do this. It is like a stop payment.

Then, since this seems to be a consistent thing with this company, I suggest all who have been burned, file a complaint with the BBB. The more complaints that they have, will not bode well for this company, because soooner or later, the DA of their business county will be notified and it could be that their business practices will be looked into.

In addition to contacting your credit card company, I'd be starting a thread on their MB (which will get deleted), in all caps, something like "HELLO, IS ANYONE FROM SC OUT THERE???" And, I'd be saying what you said here, you've tried numerous times, etc. That just might grab someone's attention.

I don't care if they say to start a "conversation" since that's obviously not working.

This is sad to hear. I've been contemplating canceling as well . . . last month I received a damaged kit and it was a six day ordeal to get that handled through the conversation in my account details. They acted like they were going out of their way to get me undamaged product. I was disappointed in how non-customer oriented they are. Lately the product is boring me and every time I turn around for inspiration, they're using digital cut files which I HATE using . . . I miss Stephanie Howell inspiration there too . . .

I hope you're able to get reimbursed and for them to stop ignoring you . . .

Reporting your card stolen may not stop the charges, I did have my card stolen and was issued a new card, the next month rolled around and several of my reoccurring charges went through without changing the number associated with the account.

Call the bank and open a claim disputing the charge. That's what I did for a different company that kept doing the same thing after I cancelled their services.

Everyone needs to check their bank accounts frequently, the company I was dealing with only charged once a quarter and it was less than 30.00 and not at the first of the month, so it slipped by for several billing cycles before I noticed it. I may not have noticed it had my card not been stolen.

April, I agree with you I miss Stephanie's inspiration there, too.

The content is becoming boring, like they are on auto-pilot, their kits are all beginning to look alike from month to month. I only need so many speech bubbles, arrows, clouds, hello stamps and label stickers. How many times are you going to use the same type of embellishment, even in PL?

Too many and your pages will become boring and you look like you've lost your creative mojo.

Oh I would be so upset too. I know when I cancelled I had to send a request twice because although I was really clear on my first request they sent me a note saying are you sure you want to quit ugh yes I am sure. They still send me emails for their kits though and I got an email asking me to come back because they missed me(yeah right lol). They just don't get it, it all seems a bit desperate but given how much stuff is left in the store after reveal it is no wonder I guess.

Hope you get your issue with them resolved!

I had a similar issue. I asked them twice via e-mail to cancel, and they hadn't. So I opened a conversation through my account, which I totally assumed would go un-answered as well because 3 or 4 days had gone by.

I posted about it on a different forum and literally within 5 minutes, it was answered. I don't know if it was a coincidence, or someone from SC's CS happened to read it, but it finally got done after over a week of trying to cancel.

I'd post about it on Studio Calico's forum. Their minions will pitch a fit about posting negatively about them, but it's a sure way to get them to take care of it.

I used the dashboard to drop my SB kit sub. It took a few back and forth "are you sure" messages, even thoug I was clear in my first message, but using the dashboard seemed to work and I wasn't charged for the SB kit this month (I do still sub to the PL kit).

Full disclosure, I have never had a CS issue there that wasn't resolved quickly and in my favor, so it isn't that they have universally bad service. I dropped my main SB sub primarily because the kits have been getting thinner and more monotonous, rather than because of CS issues that I have experienced.

Report them to the Better Business Bureau. They don't have to be a company that is accredited by the BBB. I am amazed that they haven't been reported yet.

But once they get that complaint filed through the BBB, Studio Calico should listen....I would hope

Kits won't be shipped this month until after the holiday, so you should make it very clear you expect a refund for this month and you do not want the kit shipped. If it is shipped, send it back "Refused" like another pea suggested.
Good luck, it is a nightmare over there, the entire "contact us" vs. dashboard is just crazy.

Call your credit card company or bank or PayPal which ever you use to pay and let them know about the two charges and the emails you sent ,, you can disput the charges and the bank or PayPal will refund your money and get a new card and it won't happen again.. If they aren't responding then ultimately that's the only way.. If you pay with a debit or cc you can easily just get a new card and they won't be able to charge your card or account ever again without a new number from the new card.. If you used PayPal contact PayPal and have them put a block on your account so sc can't charge the account again. If you don't then another month may go by without them contacting you and you'll get charged again! Good luck!

This is what I can't understand.. I hear from time to time that sc never answers people's emails after many attempts at trying to reach them and so on.. Every time I have ever had to contact them I literally get a response from them within in an hour or by the end of the day at the absolute latest.. I wonder if its different if you email them directly or open a convo on your dash with them.. I dk. I have been a subbie since November and Im a happy customer with zero complaints.. But I can sympathize with others and the issues they go through.. I love sc and there monthly kits good luck hope you get it figured out !!
