This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges on 2peas and is a fun place to come chat with other scrappers.

1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. Mark the box for Pokey Peas as you post your layout. Put a link to your layouts on this Pokey Peas Thread for July 2013. (If you don't know how to post a link, leave a note to me on the Pokey Peas Thread or peamail me and I will help you.)

2. This can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items.

3. Please leave praise for others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts.

4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or a dozen. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new Peas.

Please contact me with any questions.

NEW MEMBERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!!!

I posted this on the June thread, but since July is up I'll post here

Good morning, posted here because I did not see the July thread up yet. Hope you all have a wonderful week. Anyone have any interesting plans for the 4th? We just like to stay home. Thought I would share a link to my website for my County Courthouse Project. I was able to complete uploading all of the pages I have for New Mexico.

I noticed some layouts posted over the weekend. The link to the end of June's Pokey thread is HERE. Be sure to check them out if you were AWOL this weekend.

The link to the layouts that will be posted for the July thread is HERE.

Summer seems to be just slipping by too quickly. It's hard to believe that we are already into July. I'm hoping that you are getting all the things done that you planned for the summer.

Angie designed some cut files and emailed them to me so today I hope to do some cutting for her. I'm excited that she can use her digi skills and I can do some fun cuts. Now that's cooperation!

Sending hugs and "cool" wishes to you all on this hot summery day. I hope to see lots of layouts, cards, etc. this month!

Maribeth, I love those courthouses. There is not place to leave praise, but I wanted you to know I love the title page with the map of counties and I love that font you have used. Those beautiful old buildings really speak to my heart. Reminds me of home and the old schools I attended. Beautiful work.

Nylene - thank you they are the ones I have posted here in the past, but I am putting the entire Courthouse Project on my website and just wanted to share the link with you all. I will be putting up my other projects as well, so all the pages can be grouped together (ie churches, abandoned buildings, register of historic places, etc).

Still begging for Courthouse photos

I finished a page today. My scanner is having issues. It either scans very dark or very light. Can't seem to make it look like the real color. Oh, well.

Birthday Girl

We went to Monsters University this afternoon. Such a cute movie. I can't wait to get the DVD when it comes out. Such a good story.

Be back later.

Good Morning ladies! Hope you are all doing well! It keeps raining here! At least once a day we get rain! Yesterday I got soaked coming out of the grocery store! I had a great day yesterday in spite of the rain though. I bought a bike! Now I have to learn the hand brakes! I need to get exercise and I can do this with the grands! Here's a pic of my new bike-first new bike I ever had! Even came with a bell!

Maribeth-If I get around any courthouses I will be glad to get you some pics!

Hope everyone has a great holiday this week. Waving a big hi to one & all. Maggie & I will be making frozen treats made with Jello and pudding for our cook-out Wednesday. There is a country club near us that sets off fireworks on the third. So we are having out cook-out Wed. and they will stay for the show! Hope to get some good picks I already researched the setting for my camera so here's hoping!
Hope to check back later! Have a good one!

Hugs, Cindy

Good morning everyone!

Cindy - I sure wish you could send some of your rain this way. We are so dry. GREAT BIKE! That looks like a lot of fun. I was a huge bike rider in my youth, wish I would have never given that up. It would not be worth it to get a bike living out here in the country, to hard to ride on the rock roads we have. You will have a great time with the grands. Thanks for thinking of me on the Courthouse photos, I can use all the help I can get.

I have not had a chance to look at the pages posted thus far. I think I will plan on doing that while I walk on the treadmill tonight. Hubby fixed me up a great little table so I can use the laptop while I am on the treadmill, but it is hard to do to much actual "work" on it, I usually can only watch videos, or do some web surfing. I can keep my balance and type a little, so I think I will be able to manage posting my comments.

I am working right now on getting my pages on my website. The Courthouse Project has inspired me to get the rest of my stuff uploaded to my website which has laid dormant for quite some time. So my mojo is focused in this area this week. But you can bet I will sneak a few pages in this week as well.

Wishing everyone a wonderful and glorious day.

Maribeth

Hope everyone is having a great day. It's July and hope everyone is staying cool. My apt has a pool so for the last few nights my feet and legs have gotten cooled off. Trying to get my dh in with me tonight and maybe soon we will get all the way in but as a woman of color, hair is always an issue. But for now I'll take the fun however I can get it.

Cindy- What a fun bike! Your very 1st? So happy for you and I know the kids will have a great time with you. Go Cindy Go! I haven't been on a bike in a long time but it does bring back fun memories of Summers as a kid and riding my bike with friends way down the street. So fun! I hope to see some pics of you girl riding and smiling!

Nylene- Thanks for the new thread. Is it hot your way? When the weather is hot there is it humid or dry heat? I have never been to Utah but went to Idaho once. Beautiful country!

Maribeth- Your courthouse website it cool! What a fun project and hope you keep getting more pics and pages done. Our 4th plans will be relaxing and I hope to see fireworks, too!

Waving hi to everyone!!!

Good morning everyone!

Happy day before the 4th. I am looking forward to a day off. (wish it was a four day weekend)

Nylene - Thank you for the Courthouse photo, I will be making the page layout today at lunch, then hope to send some photos to the printers this weekend.

Kelly - thank you for checking out my site. Enjoy your 4th.

Well, better get to work, just wanted to pop in and say hi!

Hey girls! I'm actually stopping in early this month! I have skimmed thorugh last month's thread to catch up and I thiink I got everything praised. We actually have a couple of relatively calm weeks ahead so I hope to get some extra scrapping done.

Maribeth-I can get a picture of our courthouse which is the only marble courthouse east of the Mississippi! Peamail me with you email address and I will send it when I can!

Nylene-I am so glad you and your family had such a long visit! Sorry about the stomach virus. I don't care what you do, you can't keep a stomach virus from spreading to those in the same house with you! I've tried everything and we always ALL get it!

Cindy-Can't wait to see a layout with you and those grands riding bikes! A bike with a bell is cool if you are 2 or 92!!!

Debi-Your story about a banana a day reminded me of the joke one of my 98 year old patients told me. "An apple a day keeps everyone away if you're aim is good enough!"

Big hugs to all you other pokeys!

Hi everyone! I am getting ready for my cook-out and had a minute so I wanted to stop by and say that I hope you all have a wonderful Independence Day. I also want to thank all of those out there that fought to earn and preserve our freedoms.

Hope to be back later to catch up! Gotta run!

Having a lazy day today. I tried to post a layout here and it said I had to update my Flash Player. I followed the instructions, but ended up in a big mess. Luckily my DSIL can remote into my computer (would you think he has had to fix my stuff often?) and was able to uninstall all the junk I had accidentally downloaded with the Flash Player which still wouldn't work. A few more tweaks and it would finally let me post the layout. What would I do without that boy! So, here is the layout I finished earlier.

You Melt My Heart

Hope you are all having a great, relaxing day!

I had one of those lazy days too Nylene! I caught up on backing up all three computers, and did not do much more then that. I am tired from the past two days and rested up to have the grands again tomorrow! So not much to chat about-my photos of the fireworks did not turn out last night, so better luck next time! Our cook-out was a success though! The food was delicious and the company was great!
Well be back tomorrow!

Cindy, I was telling Steve about your new bike today and we were thinking that would be such a fun thing....then we looked at each other and laughed. I fall down when there's uneven sidewalk and it's not even slick. Just that little fall shattered my wrist and broke my nose, can you imagine what would happen if I fell off the bike!! I don't think I'm willing to risk it, but I really am jealous of your beautiful NEW bike and I know you'll have fun with the grands on it. Be careful!

Good Morning

Well back to work for me today. Seems so weird to go back to work for just one day, but TGIG right!. I got a great score this weekend when a gentleman named Mark has given me the entire State of Washington County Courthouse photos. I am so excited. That is 58 Counties. That means 58 pages. Yikes, I better get busy. On that same note, Nylene, I finished my page for the Courthouse photo you sent. I will be ordering prints this weekend so hopefully they will come by next weekend and I can post the complete page.

Seems like everyone had a good 4th, make it a great day today too. See you all later.

MARIBETH that's awesome, and I'll check off my TO DO list to take a photo of the courthouse here in Seattle as you have it covered. Curious, do you know how many in county courthouses there are?

NYLENE you need to get yourself a 3 wheel bike...basically a growup trike. They don't fall over like a 2 wheeler but can be just as much fun. We had one when I was a kid.

Cool again today. Another good weather day to work in the yard if I dare after doing 5 hours yesterday. Not sure my body will allow me to abuse it 2 days in a row. We'll see.

Have a good one..I've got to run to the bank, the dollar store and the grocery before long.

Debi - there are 2984 give or take a few for keypunch error (LOL) and that does not count the actual counties with more than one Courthouse (which some have more than one, apparently many counties in Mississippi have more that one) Or those counties that have an old one still standing (maybe used as another purpose or abandoned but still standing) and have built a new one. So to sum it up - there are A LOT!!!! Guess I have my work cut out for me.

Have a wonderful evening everyone.

Hello all of you pokies

So glad to see that you enjoyed your holiday celebrations.I had a nice day despite the rains. It's good to just enjoy the day and remember the passed struggles for our freedom. Starting on the 3rd,I have enjoyed multiple fireworks displays from the front porch and the gazebo. Since we have such a splendid view and can see for miles,so far each night has provided a beautiful site to see. They are miles away, but still beautiful!!

Ruby Jo and grands stopped by for a visit last pm and we played and had fun. She is so exciting to watch, she learns something new each day.

Cindy, fireworks are very tricky to capture,a tripod is almost a muct. Also setting your camera to bursts, really helps. Some years my photos turn out stellar and others are not so distinct. Setting up in advance and hoping is my best option.I still scrap the not so good,it's what I got so I might as well remember it the way it happened, lol.

Today is adlib,so far I have enjoyed my hummer show, checked out the pond and I intend to do whatever for the rest of the day.

Hello to all of you gals, hope you are well and happy. Nylene,I think you have made the right choice about the bike. Sometimes you have to weigh your options and broken bones are horrid. When I gave up roller blading,I went through a minor let down and then I said,"just be thankful you got to do it at all".

Soon Come pam

Here it is Sunday afternoon already! Hope your weekends have been wonderful and filled with warm family time! It has rained here everyday for two weeks, and today is not going to be any different! Last night we had some rocking and rolling storms go thru, and expecting more this evening. I am finally getting used to my bike! Riding is not the problem. It is the hand brakes and gears as I have never used either!?The only bike I had was a second hand one that I shared with my sister, and a second hand bike I rode when my kids were younger. So there is a parking lot at the park down the street and we have been riding there to get used to using the brakes etc.

Nylene-I honestly never thought about falling! So far I have not! I did buy a helmet so as not to have a head injury just in case!

Pam-wonderful seeing you GF! We miss you when you're not here. I did not use the tripod as I did not have a remote. Bob got a couple pics with his point & shoot. I had looked up settings but all I got were spots!

Waving a big HI to everyone! Kelly the bomb pops and pudding pops came out very well and we had so many we are still eating them!

Here's a page I think you will enjoy!

Great Life

BBL

Hello Pokey Peas! Sorry I've been MIA. Had a lot of stuff going on and the thought of posting one of my GIGANTIC posts was making me feel overwhelmed.

I've had some challenges over the last few months which has also contributed to my lack of presence here on this thread. I've been having back issues again (I had minor back surgery 6 years ago). I had shots last month but they don't seem to be helping. Dh and I also went to visit my family up in Seattle to meet my newest nephew. Found out my parents aren't adjusting well (they moved up there a year and a half ago to be near my brother's family). I've also been given a new opportunity at work and am now managing 9 associates. It's a different role for me so it's all new and challenging. Sorry, don't mean to be a downer. Just sharing some background.

I just finished one of my long posts and hit "reply" again instead of submit. Why does this always seem to happen to me? Sigh. I never learn.

I'll try to recapture what I wrote:

Nylene - thanks for posting the July thread. Monsters University sounds great! I've been wanting to watch it too, especially in 3D. They have those cute green 3D glasses - got to get a picture with those.

Cindy - you got a bike! Congrats! You'll love it. Cycling is one of my all time favorite activities to do. DH has a big metal wire basket that sits in the back of his mountain bike. We like to cycle to the grocery store for small trips. It's only about 6 miles round trip. Unfortunately, with my back issues, my Sunday rides are on hiatus (those are usually around 20 miles). And my dh is riding solo as I'm writing this post.

Kelly - a pool! How nice. It's been pretty hot the last several weeks and I wish we had access to a pool. We don't have air conditioning so I'm glad it's finally started to cool down.

Amy - some extra scrappy time. That's awesome! I just had to change my work schedule so my creative scrappy time will be impacted. I used to work a 4x10 schedule (4 days a week/10 hrs per day) but am now working a traditional 5x8 schedule due to my new role (5 days a week/8 hrs per day). I'm finding I'm working more than 8 hrs a day but still need to go in 5 days a week. I used to be able to get projects and chores done on my day off and save the weekend for quality time with the hubs. I think I'm going to need to make some adjustments to my routine.

Maribeth - what a great project you're undertaking with the courthouses. I saw your other thread asking for pictures. I was going to reply for Orange County but looks like someone else has got you covered.

Pam - what a nice day you've been having. A hummer show. That sounds interesting. I'm trying to convince my gfs to go to the Package Tour next Saturday. It's New Kids on the Block, 98 degrees, and Boyz II Men. There are still tickets available so I'm hoping they'll say yes. I don't really want to go alone. lol

Debi - I didn't realize you were in Seattle! I was there a few weeks ago. It would have been nice to get together to grab a coffee/tea. Although truth be told, we didn't have much free time since we were there to spend time with family. Dh and I did manage to go to Pike Place Market for some crab and to stop at my fave cheese shop, Beecher's. Have you ever had their mac'n cheese? It is sooooo good! I was really excited because they had a mac'n cheese kit. I was hoping their recipe was included and it was! We also bought some of their flagship cheese as well as Just Jack and No Woman cheeses. Yum!

Ok, I think I'm caught up. I WILL NOT HIT THE REPLY BUTTON. I WILL NOT HIT THE REPLY BUTTON.

Hope to chat with you all more regularly. Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hap-PEA Monday!
I hope you all had a nice weekend. You've all got lots going on.

I had a relaxing weekend and am back to the grind today. My goals this week (besides the usual household tasks) are to get our vacation pictures off the camera and get things ready for my scrap group in a couple of weeks.

I hope are all well and have a good week.

Hugs!

Good morning ladies.

Off to another work week. Hope I can have a positive attitude this week. Lagged a bit in that department last week but I think maybe because it was so chopped up. Great 1st day of class with bandit yesterday. Disappointed I did not get my photos ordered this weekend, but hope to some time this week. Means they will not be in this weekend, but I can still make pages until they get here.

Welcome Brandy - this is a great group.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Welcome, Brandy! We are always happy to welcome new members. We have other teachers who come and go from the thread in the summers, so join in and tell us something about yourself.

I'm Nylene and have been posting the Pokey Peas thread for many years. Click on my name under my photo and that pretty much says it all. I scrap mostly my grandchildren. I live in Utah as do 3 of my 4 children and the other one lives in Calif, and drops by this thread often. (toadelee)

I just have a minute before the grands arrive to finish their quilt bindings. We attended my DH's 50th High School Reunion over the weekend. We had a hot trip to Idaho and back because the AC went out, but we had so much fun visiting with old friends that we didn't even care if the car was hot. He had a class of 140 kids and I was in the class behind him, so I knew those kids too. (Of course they are all now VERY OLD!)

I need to scold those of you who send their rain to us. (Even though I said we badly needed it) We hit a terrible storm coming home and could hardly see the road. It got a little scary driving for a while.

Need to run set up the sewing machine. I'll hop back on later. It's nice to be home and see all your smiling face.

BRANDY welcome! And look at you, jumping in with a LO to post right away. We love to have new folks join our little group. I'm Debi, single mom to twin 14 year old boys. My life revolves around them a lot.

NYLENE they say to be careful for what you ask for as you just might get it ... you asked for rain, and that's what you got. Glad you made it home safely. I don't care to drive in the rain and here I live in Seattle-rain city...argh. A 50 year HS reunion, how fun. My class was so disorganized we barely had a 10 and 20 year reunion...there's been no activity since --last year would have been 40 years. But. now you're making me feel old, and I refuse to go there.

ANNE I would have loved to have met you when you and dh visited--I could have met you at Pike Place, but I understand how busy it can be when visiting family and your time is limited. If you come this way again be sure to contact me. Sorry to hear your back is giving you issues...with RA I understand how pain can certainly derail you. Hope you get to the bottom of the issue soon and can find some relief.

Since I've often lost posts (not always my error-sometimes 2peas is just uncooperative) I often type my response in Notepad as I read the different posts then copy and paste into reply. That way if it goes off into cyberspace or I hit the wrong button, I still have the whole post available to try again. That said, I didn't do that this time, so I better not be cursed and hit the wrong button. LOL

MARIBETH you have taken on quite a project...nearly 3000 photos--3000 pages...my oh my.Well you can't say you don't have anything to scrap.

Hi PAM! Where is ANGIE--haven't heard from her for awhile.

CINDY you are so brave to start riding bikes again but you two look so cute and it's great exercise. I know it took me awhile to get used to the handbrakes too.

Me? I spent the entire day yesterday renaming digital scrapbook files since designers have moved stores and so many shops require you use only current product in their stores for contests/challenges but that means having to go and verify what is in their store even though I have tons of product from their designers but some NOT carried in their shop...my original way of labeling files failed me because I didn't take into consideration that designers would change stores or that digi stores would close like 2peas and Design House Digitals have. So had to revamp my methods...it will take a long time to redo every file, but I'll work with the ones I'm most active with first then redo the others as time permits. It's a good activity to do when I'm just needing busy work.

So now I need to get ready to go to a meeting and get this day rolling. Looks like it will be another pretty day in the upper 70's-perfect summer weather.

Hi everyone! Hope all is well! Everything here is ok! Still on a learning curve with the bike! Ran into a girl I worked with on the bike trail today!

Brandy-welcome to the Pokey Peas! I am Cindy and want to thank you for your kind comment on my layout! I checked yours out and what a cute little guy you have there! I am a wife, mom and grandma. I scrap the grands a lot! I am retired and enjoying it immensely!

Anne- good seeing you. I am trying to get used to this bike-not used to gears and hand brakes. I never had a bike with either before. It is turning out to be a challenge!

Jen-so great seeing you feeling so good! I am sure you are glad you had your surgery since you are having such great results!

Well it is storming here again so getting off for now!

Hugs, Cindy

Thanks for all the welcome and the comments on my layout As Nylene asked for more info, I am an avid scrapper, teacher, wife, mom, travel enthusiast etc I teach high school business and just traveled to California from Tennessee for national FBLA competition. I recently just reorganized and rearranged my scrapbook room so I am loving my newly designed little organized room Today I spent about three hours scanning some pages from my cricut cartridges to make a master example list of all of my fonts! I have emailed it to my mom who runs a printing business and she is printing and laminating it for me so I can easily flip through examples of the cartridges and see what I want to use.

Cindy, I gasped as I read this:

Still on a learning curve with the bike! Ran into a girl I worked with on the bike trail today!
Ran into.... scared me until I finished the sentence. I'm assuming you didn't hit her with your bike! I'm sure you are really enjoying it. You and Bob look so cute on those bikes! (And I know you have better balance than I do and won't tip over!)

Anne, it's so nice to see you. I'm sorry you are having back problems. I had back surgery in the 80's and have struggled with it since. I hope that conservative care will make it better. Take it easy on that bike! Sounds like a great new position for you at work. But how dare they take away your leisure/scrapping time!

Pam, how I'd love to see your hummers and your pond. Someday I want to get out that way...(sigh) I'm sorry your friend Sylvester has walked out on you. I hope he's safe and being tended by some other cat-friendly family. I'm jealous of your BFF get togethers. What fun.

Maribeth, I have meant to tell you every time I post how impressed I am that you have such a positive attitude about a job that you really don't like. You go, girl! That positive attitude will take you a long way.

Brandy, I love the idea of samples of your cricut fonts. I don't have very many, but have SCAL so I use the fonts on my computer. How nice that your mom can make you a booklet that will make picking and using a font so much easier.

Debi, we have had all kinds of storms come through here since I was hoping for rain. They come with huge winds and drop lots of water, but it runs off because it comes too fast. Silly weather this year. The biggest problem is that they come with lightning which touches off fires all across this VERY DRY state. We often have this kind of weather in Aug. but not usually this early.

Angie, are you scrapping?

Jen, you sound so upbeat. I hope you are healing a bit more every day. Glad the procedure is behind you and that you are doing well. We are expecting some layouts from you soon.

Sending hugs to all. I probably won't get back to the thread until weekend. It's another busy week.

Hi everyone! Thought I would pop in. There are already so many posts.

Brandy - welcome! FBLA - I remember being in that club in high school. How did your group fare?

A little about me - married, no children with 2 cats and 1 dog. My husband and I met while working at Disneyland ages ago and we just celebrated our 16 year wedding anniversary last month. We love to laugh, travel, cycle, run 5ks, read, watch movies, and enjoy good food and wine. I also love to teach and am fortunate enough to teach in a corporate environment on occasion and also volunteer through Junior Achievement (JA). My company partners with JA, and volunteers go to elementary schools to teach about the importance of education, money management and business. It's a great program and I feel so rewarded being able to spend time with the kids. I am also an avid scrapbooker/crafter and love 2peas!

Nylene - I'm sorry to hear you're still struggling with your back. It's definitely not pleasant. I had minor back surgery 6 years ago so I'm a little disappointed I'm experiencing back pain again so soon. Hopefully, it will pass.

Cindy - yes, it took me a wee bit of time to get used to hand brakes and gears too but you'll get there. I had only ridden cruisers before. But I really enjoy it. Hope you and Bob do too.

Maribeth - sorry to be asking but who is Bandit? Is it by chance a puppy/dog? I've been meaning to enroll our Brady in a doggy school at Petsmart. He's normally great but sometimes barks whens he's scared of strangers or other dogs. Please let me know how it goes.

Jen - sounds like you're doing well. I'm so glad. How exciting! Another group crop. I just signed up for a crop in August. It's with Michelle Hill with Polka Dot Whimsy. It'll be my first time at a PDW crop. One of my girlfriends is going too and I'll know at least one other gal that I used to crop with at our LSS. I'm looking forward to it. Haven't been in awhile after all our LSSs closed down. I do most of my scrapping and creating at home. It will be nice to be surrounded by ladies who share the same passion. I'll have to prepare (meaning print some photos and put together some kits). It's 10am - 2am! It's about a 2 hr drive each way so I don't know if I'll be able to make it the whole night.

Debi - too bad we didn't get a chance to meet up. Who knows when we'll be back up in Seattle. We didn't even make it up last year. But next time, I will definitely PM you and we can meet for coffee or tea or something. I would love that! I was a little disappointed we didn't get to do much sightseeing or tourist-y stuff this time around. I would have loved to go kayaking or to see the gum wall (I know, gross!) or tons of other silly things, but a small sacrifice to see and spend more time with the family. Unfortunately, we just didn't have the time. Hoping we can go up again next year or they'll come for a visit. We do have Disneyland, Sea World and Legoland in our favor.

Angie - hello! Where are you? I miss you, friend!

Ok, y'all - have a good night!

Quick note from me today before my Cub Scouts arrive. After having 10 no-shows last week, I hope I have a few come today.

I scrapped last night. I have piles of photos to scrap since Angie shared a 100 free 4x6 Costco prints coupon with me. Can't wait to get a bunch more done.

Thanks for the welcome!

Here is a couple more pages I finished just now. Also I upload these from my cell phone two peas app and mark them for the challenge but they do not show, I am currently emailing back and forth with the webmaster at two peas because several of the features don't work on the app, like for example I mark the tags to go along with my page and it is showing none of them

Anyway here are the pages I completed so far today, the trick or treat page is from a Micheals calandar page that I added too and moved a couple of things

Good Morning Ladies,

Cindy - Sorry the storms woke you up. I would gladly put up with little sleep if we could get some good consistent rain here. But I hope they were not destructive storms, that is unwanted.

Anne - Yes, Bandit is a puppy (5 months we think) who showed up on our door step about a month ago. We live in a rural area and we get a lot of dumped animals out here. We think our cat Desmond was dumped as well. We did not intend on getting another dog after our two died last year (they were 17). But no one claimed him and if you take them to animal control here, no one ever comes to adopt so we figured he would be doomed. He is a personable little fellow, we hope that we can get him trained enough (and get through the puppy stage) so we can enjoy and handle him. He is really loving and mostly good, but just has those puppy issues right now.

Nylene - Thank you for your positive word about my work attitude. It is hard and pretty much gets harder everyday. I just had to resolve in my mind that it would be better to attempt a positive attitude and plunge into my job duties get my work done correctly and not worry about the rest of the business since all of that is out of my control anyway. I am making the hours when I get home count, and it helps that my retired hubby takes care of so much of the home chores that the majority of my home time is actually "play" time for me. I really shouldn't complain but sometimes the stress of the job just can't be overcome no matter how hard I try.

Everyone else - have a wonderful day, I will check out the new layouts when I get home tonight while I am walking on the treadmill.

Maribeth

Hello, all! I hope everyone had a wonderful fourth! Ours was rained out so we still have the town celebration to look forward to this Saturday. I was actually kinda glad because I had to work on the fourth and would have missed the daytime activities. However, that was my last holiday to work!!!! As a school system employee, I will get them all instead of only Christmas and Thanksgiving. I have three weeks left on my resignation period and then a one week break before workdays start at school. I am excited, but a little scared of the change and sad that I will not see my girls at work as much.

Brandy-Welcome to the Pokey Peas! It sounds like you are one wonderfully busy and creative lady! It looks like you are in Nashville which isn't too awfully far from me. I am in western NC! I am a mom of three (Will-ALMOST 10, Anna- 7 1/2 and Katie- 4 1/2). I am a physical therapist and I just accepted a job in the school system. I will be free next summer, too! (Yay!!!) My husband has been a welder for 18 years and is back in school to be a physical therapy assistant. Needless to say, our lives are in a bit of an upheaval right now!

Jen-I am so happy to hear that you are doing well!

Cindy-Happy Trails!

Waving hello to everyone else!

Hey ladies! I hope you all are having a great time. Last weekend we has a really good time playing at the park and a little shopping. Looking forward to more fun this weekend. I am working on a card for my mil's bday. It will be a mini album type in yellows and greens. I will share it when I am done.

QUESTION: Does anyone have any tip on how to get finger nail polish out of a garment? I was doing my nails and a drop of hot pink polish dropped on my nighty. I tried on nail polish remover and no luck.

Cindy- You and your hubby looked great on those bikes. I am glad you are enjoying it and learning how to ride it. So cool! Any more treats to send me? I made a smoothe last night and it was ohhh so good and perfect for a warm night.

Nylene- Your dh's reunion sounded like fun. Sorry to hear the a/c broke down but that will make for fun memories down the road. Is it still hot there in you area? We have had some clouds that last few days but still warm just not as hot as it was.

Anne- Hope you are feeling better. Yes, our apartment has a pool that I used to rarely get in but this SUmmer, I have sat on the edge a few times and it feels sooo good. As for a/c we have had a pretty warm Summer so far. We have an portable a/c with a nozzle that goes to the window. It works well but just wish it could cool my whole apartment!

Brandy- WELCOME! SO glad you came. I am Kelly, married and live in So California. I love many arts and crafts but especially card making. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Wishing you all a nice night! Take care ladies!

Kelly use that pool. BOy, if I had one I would. The one summer I lived in an apartment with a pool, I spent every afternoon in it for an hour or so, often just lazing around on a pool float. Have to say, I got mighty tan that summer, especially for such a pale white girl as I am ( I tease saying I'm half Norwegian and 1/2 albino)...but then you don't have to worry about being too pale. I'm not a big swimmer, but I'd probably become more into it if I had a convenient pool, especially this summer when we've had so many 80-90 degree days.

Much cooler today...not sure we even hit 70.

good gardening weather, now if only I'd motivate myself to do it.

Good Morning! I wanted to stop by and say hello. I haven't been home from work long and plan to get a nap soon. I have been back to work for a couple of weeks now and miss being on vacation! I have worked about every other day for the last week. I get a 5 day weekend starting today.

I will have to check in later to catch up on all the post. I hope everyone is doing alright.

Jana, so nice to see your smiling face. I hope you can get some scrapping done during your 5 days off. What have you been doing besides working this summer? How was the crop you attended.

Cindy, I want some of that virtual ice cream, but will you kindly remove the calories before you send it. I've stayed the same weight on my diet since April, but just this week have started to go down again. So the ice cream must be calorie free! Hope you have a great time with the sleepover. How's the biking?

Amy, I know you will love having the summers off with your children. I hope the new job is everything you were hoping. Does your school start this early?

Debi, I'm glad to know you are scrapping even if you can't post them yet. I hope your teeth are doing better today. Are your boys keeping themselves busy for summer?

Kelly, I wish I had an answer for your nail polish dilemma. I spilled some on a skirt and tried everything I could think of. The dry cleaner didn't even have a suggestion. Sorry! Glad you have enjoyed the edge of your pool. It's rainy here now, but has been up to 105. That's a record high.

Brandy, it's nice to see you scrapping. Keep those layouts coming.

Pam, playing with Ruby Jo is more fun than scrapping anyway. Hope you are feeling well and enjoying your family.

Maribeth, hang in there with your job. Your attempts at positivity will really help you when things get tough. How's the "project" coming?

My DGDs worked on quilts all day yesterday and one is finished and the other three are doing the handwork. They turned out really cute. I've taken photos, but haven't even downloaded them yet. Today I'm giving my back a rest. It's amazing how much it aches after bending over the sewing machine, etc. with them.

I need to go clean up all the sewing supplies scattered around the living and family room. I also need to cart the rest of the rock collection stuff we used in Cubs down to the basement. I guess it's a cleaning day....although I'd rather SCRAP!

Anne and Jen, I'm sending hugs and prayers for continued healing for you.

Good Afternoon Ladies - so glad it is Friday, how about you?

Jana - Sweet, 5 days, how nice. Enjoy

Nylene - I have not done much this week on my Courthouse Project. We have spent a lot of time on our dog training homework, and I am taking a Pazzles (my die cutting machine)Online University training the first weekend in August and I was just sent my list of supplies so I have been going through my stash and making a list of what I have and what I need to get for my online class. I will be working on some more Courthouse Project pages this weekend, and I see I have several more photos from wonderful people who have been willing to take pics for me waiting in my email. I also need to upload the layouts I complete so far this month.

Debi - Enjoy the cooler temps!

I hope everyone enjoys their Friday, and have a wonderful weekend. I am sure we will be seeing (virtually) each other during the weekend.

Happy Friday! It is a nice warm day here and I am enjoying it. Hope life has been good to you all today. I want to buy some new paints. I was trying some acrillyc paints but some were hard or just no good. So, I hope to find a set with multi colors to get me off to a good start. I have loved playing with the water colors but want to try something else. I really want to create a art journal like Donna Downey does weekly. I went to here site to see about ordering the journal pages of sturdy paper and the shipping was more than the pages! So gotta come up with my own idea.

Nylene- Wow, a 105???? That is HOT!!! Definately stay cool and have fun crafting in all that heat. Also, I was so mad with that nail polish and wish I can get it out of my sweet bed dress I was wearing when I got the bright idea to paint my nails.

Debi- I do hope to spend more time in that pool over this Summer. It is so relaxing just sitting and enjoying it. I am not a big swimmer either but would like to take lesson again to learn more so I can do more.

Cindy- YESSSS! I would love that ice cream. That sounds soooo good. I haven't had hand made ice cream, I can't even remember when. Have fun with the bike and the kids.

Well ladies, hope you all enjoy your day. Take care!

Kids are off to their dad's for the next week. He was in a foul mood when he picked them up and was quite unpleasant to talk to but seems to be the standard more than not these days. Guess I need to not take any of what he says to heart.

The kids are supposed to go white water river rafting this week sometime, but of course, their dad tells me nothing of their plans. I hope they stay safe, use sunscreen and have fun. I will miss them. I will not miss having to interact with my ex however.

I made it to the 2nd level of a contest on another site...yay! Here's my LO from the first level.

Laundry is all done,so I can just hang out by myself tonight. Now if I could just get my tooth to stop hurting...
